I was having some gear changing problems in my Nissan and the dealer could not figure out the problem. These people were recommended to me by my friend and when i brought the car here, they immediately diagnosed it to be a clutch problem and not a gear problem. My car was ready in 30 minutes. more

Women Beware-Slimeballs 8/6/2012

I took my 1996 Land Rover Disco in to have the "death wobble" issue addressed. I knew what the solution was, I just didn't want to hassle with it (I was a mechanic in the military) and purchase additional tools. Not only did they refuse to inspect the parts I requested, they?not knowing I just had the ball joints replaced?tried to tell me they joints were bad/not put together correctly and they would charge $500 just to take them apart and put them back together. Anyone that knows how ball joints work knows thats BS. Also, there truly was not an issue with the joints. They also said they weren't sure that would fix the issue, but it was where they wanted to start. $500 to tear apart a perfectly fine and non-broken component? Be sensible. They also asked me to bring my car back in so they could look at it again. They only asked to do this after I balked at the their plan to tear apart the ball joints. The "death wobble" is a common and EASILY DIAGNOSED issue on the older Disco's. W more

Rip-Off people Business scammer 2/8/2012

I decided today to leave a negative comment on this Business who said they are expect in the foreign cars. In truth they are scammer. people who have good speech in their mouths to extract money from the poor people like me. I decided to bring my car over there for short visits. After their diagnostics they say I need to change a part on my car. I don't know if is was true, but they made me a bill for this part that costs $ 171.56 Labor $ 433.50, and I paid. After 1 year the same problem came back so I decided to do research on the internet. I discovered that the original part was costing $ 29.99, and they sold me at $ 171.56. I couldn't believe they sold me this part at this price. I bought the original part at $29.99, and I mounted on my car by myself. Please very careful about these scammer. more

Great, quality service 5/4/2011

These guys are great. I have a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder that I USED to take to the dealership for maintenance and repairs, but I just didn't trust what they would tell me and the quality of their work. In addition, I used to take it to Midas, but then I realized that you get what you pay for with them; cheap parts and repair! A friend of mine told me about University Foreign repair and they have been great. They're honest and fair, reasonably priced, use high quality parts, and just no games or BS. Example...a few years back my car had a loud squeaking noise (some sort of belt) and it took the dealership 5 times to finally fix it. The same squeak recently came back and while I was getting my oil changed at UF, I told them about the squeak and they fixed in minutes with no charge! If anything, stop by and talk to the owner (he sounds like he knows his stuff) and get an estimate for what you need to have done... I'm not sure of all the negatives that have been posted (Maybe they have this place confused with another shop???)...these guys are very nice and take the time out to discuss what does and doesn't ned repair and they do so in terms that I can understand! I highly recommend! more

LandRover Discovery Fiasco! 4/2/2011

Took my 2001 LandRover Discovery which was overheating to them for a repair. We were told that we needed the head gasket done. Paid $5000 for this repair which took 7 days. Two days after picking up the car it was having the same problem. They took it back, looked at it again and told us we needed a new engine. Did not offer us any compensation for the $5000 we wasted. more

BEWARE 3/21/2011

Worst experience I have ever had. What was suppose to take 1.5 hrs took over a week. That were just giving us a diagnosis. Owner was polite at first, but then sceamed and threatened to call the police. Dont want to get into it. Owner is a friggen nutcase! more

Not Impressed 10/21/2010

Dropped off my vehicle due to a leak in the sunroof. They found other problems while working on the vehicle and ended up having it for over a week. My biggest complaint with this was that we had to keep calling them to check on the progress and I feel they should have been calling us to keep us posted. When I got the vehicle back it had grease smudges on the ceiling fabric and on the arm rest. Further, they had forgotten to reset the change oil light. It has been one week since I got it back and the floor is soaking wet from the rain we got the other day. Apparently the sunroof still leaks! more

Good place for MSU students. 9/13/2010

This is my first semester at MSU and I was looking around town for a place to get my Subaru serviced. This shop is located just west of campus near the Frandor shopping center. They gave me a ride over to my class when I dropped my car off. I got my oil changed and everything went smoothly. It was a little more expensive than a drive in oil change shop, but they seem a great deal more professional. more

Worth the wait! 9/13/2010

I am waiting for an oil change right now, and I overheard one of their staff talking about their website he was working on, and it appears they have a facebook page as well. I whipped out my DroidX and checked them out, I have a few minutes to spare. The website seems good enough, we repair cars, here is our phone number, what else do you need from a car repair web site. Their facebook appears to give updates on auto repair advice and schedules, as well as traffic or construction issues in the Lansing area - thats a rather helpful thing I think as I add their page feed to google reader. Now there is a potential downside to all this - I have been waiting here almost 30 minutes for my oil change. They are a busy shop and locally owned, not some chain store. They have work lined up most days so it takes a little longer than your in and out oil change shop. But when they are done I know if my car has anything wrong with it they will let me know. That has given me the warning I need in the past so that I can budget for upcoming repairs. I normally leave my car with them and get a ride into work, I have seen a few of the people this morning get rides to work from the staff though, so it looks like they help with getting you to work as well. I recommend giving them a chance at least. Eric at the front desk is very friendly, and gives you the feeling that your car is being well looked after. more

Good car repair in Lansing! 9/9/2010

These folks changed my oil for me, and pointed out a list of other repairs I would be needing in the future. They didnt pressure me at the time, but a few months later I noticed the signs they pointed out. I took it back to them to get my brakes fixed, I cant argue with that. The original oil change prepared me for what was coming so I could set some money aside. Thanks UFC! more

Good car repair in Lansing! 9/9/2010

I started coming here a few months ago when I needed an oil change, I was coming home off 127 and saw the shop a few blocks down Kalamazoo Street. I got my oil changed and when I was paying they gave me a list of things that were in need of repair on my car! I was irritated at first seeing this list of expensive repairs, but they quickly broke it all down for me. They explained to me how to tell when my brakes were getting worse, what would happen if I didnt get the preventative repairs, and an estimate of how much longer I had. Over the next two months I noticed the signs they pointed out (shaking when slowing down) gradually increase. I just got my brakes repaired there, and I feel good about the service I was provided. Highly recommend! more
