Pork Italian and cheesesteak

Worst

My one time in Philadelphia rather than passing thru the airport, thought I'd try ""the best cheesesteak in town"", according to the ratings and peoples comments. Tony Luke's was ...

#1 11/4/2002

I'v only been to Tony Lukes 2 times in my life. I was born and raised on Pat's steaks. In all of my years, i feel that pats's and geno's have gone down hill and if I know of anyone coming in from out of town and has never had a Philly cheesesteak, I' going to recomend them to go to Tony Lukes.I think they are #1 in Philly. Pros: more meat, MORE VARIETY, inexpensive more

Philly all the way 8/13/2002

The best cheesesteak's all the way from the bread to the cheese................ Pros: best bread, large sandwiches Cons: right on the street more

""Best of Philly"" 8/8/2002

Best cheeze steaks in Philly. That says a lot. Outdoors which is great in good weather. Only recommended for diehards in the Winter. Located on Oregon Ave near the Walt Whitman bridge and Delaware now Colombus Blvd. Pros: Food, location Cons: Always a line, Cold in the Winter more

A healthy cheesesteak? 7/31/2002

Okay, maybe it's not exactly good for you, but it sure feels like it. Tony Luke's cuts of beef just seem leaner and less greasy than the ones that some of the other big cheesesteak joints use. Plus, the other ingredients from the rolls to the onions are always really fresh. The result is a cheesesteak that tastes great, but never feels heavy or oily. Worth the long lines. But one complaint -- how about opening up on Sundays? At least during Eagles season? Pros: excellent food, varied menu, terrific service Cons: long lines, closed on Sundays more

It's outa here! 7/30/2002

The new ballparks need to include these awsome cheessteaks into the plans. After traveling to various ballparks I found I wanted the food the city was famous for. People coming to Philly want cheesesteaks and Tony Luke's are best! Pros: Local Flavor more

After the Games 7/26/2002

The proximity of Tony Luke's to the ballparks lifts the eatery above the rest. Stopping there to grease up the engine after a long game could sure put a smile on anyone's face. more

Tony Luke's has the best roast pork sandwich in Philly...I prefer the Italian roast pork with sharp prov, sweet peppers and broccoli rabe. it's always a winner...I go to Jim's for cheezsteaks, but I'll go out of my way to Tony Luke's for a roast pork.... more
