Pork Italian and cheesesteak

Worst

My one time in Philadelphia rather than passing thru the airport, thought I'd try ""the best cheesesteak in town"", according to the ratings and peoples comments. Tony Luke's was ...

Best Cheesesteak in Philly, bar none!! 8/10/2006

Try the others, not worth naming, they cannot hang with Tony Lukes. Simply the best. Not a better cheesesteak on the planet. Pros: Best Cheesesteak on the Planet Cons: Rustic, to say the least, Philly atmosphere... more

Great food and selections 3/15/2006

Everyone has their favorite, but to me Tony Luke's makes the best sandwiches in the city. Their variety is huge and all the food is great, from cheesesteaks to roast pork to chicken cutlets to meatballs. They also have awesome breakfast sandwiches. Their pepper and egg is the best I have ever had. The tourists can have Pat's, Geno's and Jim's. After trying them all, I'll take Tony Luke's anyday. Pros: Quality, Price, Selection Cons: Not open 24 hours! more

Better steaks in the burbs 1/15/2006

The best cheesesteaks are in the burbs not philly, your taste buds are burned out eating philly food. This place puts mayo on everything how gross you dont put mayo on a hoagie just oil tell them to put sauce on your steak they look at you like you got 2 heads a burb staple (tomatoe sauce) not ketchup the best pork and beef comes from johnnys off snyder travel a little further and get a better sandwich you probally think pizza hut makes the best pizzas in the world more

The Best Philly Cheesesteak In The World 1/10/2006

I will travel the 85 miles just to go to Tony Lukes. The sandwiches are great and the service likewise. Good beer and bar selection makes my day. Pros: Inexpensive, Good portions Cons: TrafficParking more

Best cheesesteak and pulled pork in town 6/14/2005

Easily the best in town. Don't go to tourist traps (Pat's and Geno's). more

food galore... 3/25/2005

I think they have the best cheesesteak in Philly period. Hands down no questions ask. And...if your not in the mood for cheesesteak, there are other things u can pick up (roast pork, beef, cutlets, hamburgers). Their hamburgers (Royal Double) are huge...but it's just ok tho. U can't really beat the price. Service is fast considering all ppl ordering. more

A Taste of Philly 1/4/2005

I had to see what all the hype was about. I've been working in Philadelphia for a little over a month, and Tony Luke's is the best Philly Cheesesteak I've had. As a boy from the gentle south, I have to say I enjoyed the no-nonsense atmosphere. The staff was impatient, but very efficient. The place is about good, big and inexpensive sandwiches, and the Philly experience was worth the lines. Pros: Great Food, Inexpensive Cons: , Limited Seating more

Overrated, but still good 6/16/2004

It's actually worth trekking down to Front & Oregon every once in awhile for this local legend, and that's saying something. Tony Luke's steaks are, though probably not the very best in Philly, quite good and almost worth their reputation. They are huge, the meat is tender, and the toppings are crisp and tasty. I also have to say that, while far from an original idea, the autographed photos of celebrities seem to fit the place. The downsides are the invariably long line, the somewhat curt service, and the location way out of the way. Pros: good cheesesteaks, large portions Cons: , location more

they're greaaaat! 6/8/2004

Simply the best pizza steak in the area. Add roasted hot peppers and sharp provolone and you're in heaven. Nice tender juicy pork sandwiches too. Unfortunately, the pork sandwiches have been a little light lately. Hey T.L., better to raise the price slightly than to skimp on the meat! Pros: big meaty sandwiches, top quality ingred. Cons: long lines more

Best sandwich I've ever had. 6/3/2004

The Pork Italian (with sharp provolone) is possibly one of the best flavors I've ever bitten into. One of my friends told me how good this was and I thought he had to be exagerating. My wife went to Casa di Pasta, heard people talking about the Pork sandwich, walked over and brought me home one. With the first bite, I was a believer. Unfortunetly for me, another one of my buddies was there, drooling over my sandwich. I cut him off a bite, out the door and down 95 he went to get his own. I have yet to wait in the incredibly long line at Citizens Bank Park, but I will always get a sandwich either pre or post game. I'd love to try the cutlet or cheese steak, but I can't bring myself to order anything other than the Pork. Pros: AWESOME Food, Good price , Mountain Dew on Tap Cons: , Long line (call ahead more

Dont Miss This Place 2/28/2004

We visit Philly on a regular basis. It is a great town to explore with alot of attractions. Tony Luke's is a definite stop for anyone visiting. The lines can be long at times but the wait is more than worth it. A very reasonable price selection for those on a tight budget. They dont skimp on the portions as alot of other places do. The service was friendly, efficient and the atmosphere truly enjoyable. I brought my dad along for his first visit and he was truly overwhelmed at the amount of food you get for your money. While parking is limited and those not familiar with downtown may find it hard to get to, it is a definite stop for those on a tight budget and very hungry while in the city. For 3 adults, it costs us under $20 to leave full and satisfied. Great Job Tony!! Pros: Inexpensive, Generous Portions, Fast Service Cons: , Limited Seating more
