EXCELLENT SERVICE! 3/24/2007

I'm an avid runner, and finally checked out Super Jock 'n Jill from a friend's recommendation. In the past, I just bought whatever was on sale at Big 5, but the service, fitting, and advice you get from the employees is unmatched. Every employee seems to be very knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about running. I bought a pair, took it home, and was unhappy after a few runs. With NO QUESTIONS ASKED, they apologized and allowed me to fit a new pair, which I am very happy with. ...and they're very reasonably priced. Sure, you might find the same pair of shoes online for $15-20 cheaper, but the service you get here is incredible. Most pairs I tried on were right around $100. more

Fittin' My Feet 12/9/2006

I've been a runner for years, and as someone who also likes to get a deal, I've been buying discount running shoes for just as many years. I was recently convinced to try out Super Jock n' Jill, however, and I don't think I'll ever go back to discount shoes. A trainer recently told me that the material in running shoes slowly degrades, so that even if you don't use them, they aren't nearly as effective after about 8 months. So buying from those discount stores, where shoes have been sitting in a warehouse (or other stores) for months, sort of defeats the point. At Super Jock n' Jill, the salespeople always take your foot size and shape, your arch style, AND your running style into consideration before selling you a shoe. And they aren't selling you just what is most expensive. Most of thier shoes are around $90, so they are in it to sell you whatever shoe works best. I feel so confident now knowing that not only are my shoes fitted for comfort and performance, but to prevent injury. Downfalls: not as cheap as the discount competitors, and not a huge amount of locations. Upswings: personal attention, quality merchandise, and discounts for trainiers and coaches. more

Best Customer Service 10/10/2006

If you are shopping for the right athletic shoe, make sure you stop by Super Jock 'N Jill ( http://www.superjocknjill.com ). The staff are super knowledgeable about their shoes (and the running scene) and make sure that you walk out the door with the right shoe. When I came in, they asked for the type of activity that I do, looked for pronation, asked about the arch support, heel support, toe box. They brought out at least 25 pairs of shoes and asked me to go outside and road test it. I was there for at least an hour but I discovered a new brand of shoes that I absolutely love. Great job guys! Super Jock 'n Jill sponsors several running events throughout the city/year. At the St. Patrick's Run, Walk, Crawl, they usually give out coupons along with T shirt when you register. more

Super shoe satisfaction guarantee 8/6/2006

Definitely by far the best running store I've been to. Friendly and knowledgable staff that is truly focused on getting you in the right shoe. They not only let you "road test" the shoes by running outside, but they also will take them back if you aren't satisfied. I brought my mother there and she decided after running in her shoes for 2 days that they were too narrow, so they gave her a full refund - no hassles. more

Super Jock N Jill - brand isn't the focus - fit is 7/3/2006

Going to Jock N Jill is a good first step since they do a good job of checking whether or not you pronate or have any other quirk in your running step. I wouldn't focus so much on brand as I would getting a good fit. If you go down to the shop it would be a good idea to also wear the shoes that you may have been using up till now so they can see the wear on the sold or shape of the shoe. I've been getting my running shoes at Jock N Jill for about 15 years and have been happy with the results. Yeah, the prices are higher than Big 5 but the quality is definitely there. My sad day with their store was when they stopped carrying volleyball shoes because they carried the best ones in town up till then. more

Great store 6/29/2006

There's a reason that this store has been around for a long time. They have a great selection of shoes, and their fittings are probably the best in town. They don't want you to leave thinking "well, maybe this fits" like you might at a store without a fitter. Nordstrom could take some lessons from these folks. They will fit even the mose stubborn feet and have a WIDE selection of WIDE widths and lengths, or if they don't have it in stock, they will order it for you. more

Best Shoe Fitting in Seattle 5/19/2006

Super Jock & Jill does one of the best shoe fittings I have ever had. I spent many years getting super intense pointe shoe fittings for dance. They could take up to an hour or more to finish. This is the closest and most detailed fitting I have had since. They don't believe in measuring your feet. They believe in well fit shoes. You have to be prepared to spend some time trying on a lot of pairs. They will study your stance, how you walk, and which shoe works best. They analyze every shoe you try and even seek out opinions from other employees. It is definitely a science. Because of many years of abuse dancing and funny feet to begin with, I was shocked to find my best shoe was a Brooks Adrenaline™ GTS 6 in a men's 7 1/2 and but...am totally in love with them. They do push insoles and if you have some, bring them with you. more

Easier to fetch that pail of water 4/23/2006

I'm not the athletic type at all, but when I was training for a triathlon I went to SJnJ and they were really great. Low frills but great shoes. They asked the right questions and every pair I have bought have been PROBLEM FREE (not even when I was wearing them in) and they have been a comparable price. They have different brands too so they're not trying to sell you by brand, but by your running style (pronate, supinate, etc). And they have been consistent, which is why they are still in business. more

Super Jock and Jill - they are super! 4/14/2006

These guys know feet, running, and shoes. Enough said. I have tried everyone and they not only fit you without selling you garbage you don't need, but they actually stand by their shoes. Run around the lake a few times and decide the shoes don't work- bring them back. They don't hassle you. more

Greenlake's Beloved 4/13/2006

Could an athletic, running-based shoe store be any more perfect on the outskirts of Greenlake? I cannot think of a more appropriate location. I suspect business is booming! The staff were very supportive when I visited the store for the first time. I knew nothing about running shoes and came out with not only the supposively best pair but also a pretty good knowledge of brands and sizing in general. They were very informative, to say the least. My shoes fit perfectly and have kept me going for about 6 months now... pretty soon it'll be time to pay another visit to Super Jock n' Jill. Hopefully the next pair will be as perfect as the first ones. more

Super Jock n Jill for Your Running Needs 4/2/2006

I buy my running shoes at Super Jock n Jill by Green Lake. Knowledgeable staff who is experienced at matching shoes to your running style and foot fall. You can try as many pairs as you like, taking as much time as you like. They'll watch you run in each pair to make sure they are right. Prices are on par with most shoe stores. It's crowded on the weekends so if you can go there during the week it's all the better. more

The ONLY place for running 3/6/2006

Super Jock N Jill is a Seattle institution. There are only a handful of running stores in the entire country that compare to Super Jock. No one should ever, under any circumstances, go to Road Runner Sports or any other place in Seattle that is not called Super Jock N Jill. Kids who run on their school teams get 10% off shoes. All of the employees are extremely knowledgeable about running, racing, training, and shoes. It is right at Greenlake, so you can't miss it more

great customer service 11/24/2005

I have been a long time customer of Super Jock n Jill and would recommed them to anyone looking for running or walking shoes. You will find a friendly, informative staff that is excited about what they do. I wouldn't shop anywhere else. more

If you don't look like you're already in shape, don't bother 10/12/2005

A few years ago I was training for the Breast Cancer 3-Day (60 miles over 3 days). I knew I needed the best possible shoes I could find since I'm not "HWP"and would be using them constantly so I went to J&J. I was pretty much ignored while other people (seek, slender, sinewy people) were waited on. I approached someone for help and got very little advice which I really needed. I finally bought what seemed best and got horrible blisters so I took them back, which is their policy but they were pretty rude about it. I've heard similar reports about the difference in service from older women and other people who appear to be less in shape. I went to the Seattle Running Company in Capitol Hill next and it was night and day! I got more advice than I could possibly use, a stride analysis and the feeling that they wouldn't let me choose a shoe that wouldn't take care of me. They were supportive and friendly and I've been going their ever since. more

Super Jock'n Jill 10/6/2005

I've bought shoes, as well as various items of running gear, for several years from Super Jock'n Jill. Even though I live outside Seattle now, I will drive the distance to this store for their selection and service. Their staff are quite knowledgeable and can point you to the right type of shoes depending on your running mechanics. I've gone to other athletic specialty stores but find the staff in these stores lacking in knowledge - that's if the teen behind the counter even notices you walking into the store. I've taken my wife to this store when she started walking and running. She's told me she was impressed with the staff's knowledge AND she only spent $80 for the shoes that fit her perfectly. For the staff's depth of knowledge, not only on shoes but all things running, and great service, I have to rate Super Jock'n Jill the best running specialty store. more

Go here if you need running/sports shoes 10/5/2005

If you are a runner, you know the importance of having good, supportive shoes. Personally, I don't know much about shoes, so in comes Jock n' Jills. They have a very friendly and informative staff that will get you into the right shoes. They watch your gait and make you take a walk/run out of the store to make sure you feel 100% comfortable with the shoes. Also, I have never walked out of there without trying on at least 3 or 4 different pairs. I don't think I have ever bought a pair of shoes over $100 there, and they definitely have no preference over how much you spend, they just want you to have a great shoe and great experience. If more retail stores were like this, it would be much easier to buy quality products. more

Green Lake's own sport shop 8/21/2005

Blowout your Air Nike's on a run around the pond? These guys are stumbling distance away from the track around Green Lake (just next door to GL Bar and Grill -- a stone's throw from the Starbucks). If you run, you should be shopping here. For a small store, they maintain a competitive price level with the bigger competitors and mega-sporting goods stores, but with a bent on service that goes beyond "Can I show that you in a Size 9?" more

Find a Pair of Running Shoes that Fits Perfectly 8/20/2005

When my knees started to ache from the shoes I'd been running in, I decided it was time to splurge for a really good pair of running shoes. At Super Jock n' Jill the the woman who helped me measured my feet, watched me run, and came back with three pairs of shoes that she thought might be a good fit. She had me try the first, sending me outside to run a block or so up the sidewalk. They were great. I came back and tried the other two, both good but not quite as perfect as the first. She was perfectly willing to keep trying more, but I told her I was happy with the first ones, bought them, and have been happily using them ever since. The best part was that they ended up being no more expensive than the previous poor-fitting shoes I'd gotten elsewhere. more

Great Store 8/19/2005

If you are looking for running or sports training shoes, this is the place to go. The staff here is incredibly helpful, and definitely knows their stuff. The prices are a little higher than what you might find online, but it’s worth it to get a great pair of shoes that fit well. I’ve bought here twice, and plan on going back soon. more

Great Running Store 8/9/2005

Super Jock 'n Jill was the first store that my Cross Country coach advised new runners to go to. The store can professionally fit you for shoes that are best for you, depending on your feet, running style and various other factors. The prices are hot if you are a high school runner because you receive ten percent off the retail price. They also have many local community runs and road races, such as the Super Jock 'n Jill Half Marathon and Fun Run/Walk. Overall, a great place if you are in the Greenlake area of Seattle. more
