Best Hidden Secret 9/22/2008

I have been to many spas and retreats throughout the world and I have to say that this ranks in the top five. I would like to further state that my massage therapist Durrell Waters has "fingers of magic". The atmosphere of this spa exudes itself with the professionalism of its staff. my experience with uptown spa was phenomenal for one main reason. Durrell Waters! He was not only professional but the best massage therapist I have ever had. Before arriving at the spa I was very nervous, but Mr. Water's pleasant personality made me feel relaxed the entire time. He asked me many questions about my day-to-day life to really center in on what areas needed to be worked on the most. Even offering insight on positive ways to create a more balanced muscle distribution. He obviously cares about his job and clients 100%. You won?t be disappointed! 8/25/2008

I recently moved from the New York area and was very attached to my stylist. She had styled my hair for the past four years, along with my husband?s. When I was getting married I wouldn?t let anybody else touch my hair. When I moved to the Pittsburgh area I did not know if I could find another stylist who would meet my high expectations. Well I did! At Spa Uptown, Rachel and the rest of the crew treated me like a Queen. I was offered all the same ?extras? that I previously received. When it came to my blonde highlights, Rachel listened to what I had to say and put her own spin on it. More importantly I have never experienced so much personal attention at a salon. I highly recommend Spa Uptown for their well trained stylists, relaxing atmosphere, and sunny dispositions! You won?t be disappointed! more

My experience 8/17/2008

Spa Uptown is the most relaxing, soothing and professional place of business I have ever been to. Before I visited Spa Uptown I have never had the pleasure to have a professional massage done. And I was uncomfortable, and very tense on having one preformed. Durrell The gentleman on whom preformed the massage was very professional and kind in proforming his job. He made me feel comfortable, relaxed and soothed about the whole experience. He not only helped me with my back problems but, he involved in the massage by asking where it hurt the most. This made me feel as though I was in control on what was being done and that it would be taken care of. Now that I am expecting not only will i plan to visit time and time again but, I will be asking friends and family to join me at Spa Uptown!!! Thank you Durrell!!! more

Jack is totally awesome - he performed magic and totally fixed a bad haircut - and made me look very much like me! I and thrilled with the results. I am from out of town, and I actually think parking is very reasonable. Very nice relaxed atmosphere, but very professional. Great experience and I will definitely come back when I am in town! Great Pedicure! 6/5/2008

This is my first visit to this spa and I would definately go back..and recommend it to others! Dana did a pedicure for me -- she's GREAT. I'm going back for a manicure next. What is included in this spa pedicure is often 'extra' other places so that was an added bonus! They have a pedicure room, which I enjoyed. The place is clean, up-to-date and easy to find. The front desk staff is not friendly (in person or on the phone) so don't ask them too many questions - but (surprisingly) I find this to be true in a lot of local salons. Pros: Dana is the reason I would return - Cons: unfriendly front desk staff is a turn-off - Parking is a pain (but that's true anywhere downtown) more

The BEST salon I've found in Pittsburgh! 6/1/2008

THIS IS A GREAT SALON! I've been looking for a new salon and found some reviews on Spa Uptown on this citysearch. I figured I'd give them a try. I got an appointment with Izaer, a co-owner and nothing less than fabulous, as I would come to learn. The salon itself is stylish, bright and open, upscale and modern. The staff members each are courteous, smiling, delightfully stylish in there own right ---- and all had great hair (both men and women alike). Izaer took the time to listen carefully to my wants and expectations, formulate an idea and plan and worked with me to give me a great color and cut. I had a great time while I was there, the atmosphere is fun and the staff have a great time with the customers. I can tell you when I was done, I gave Izaer a hug and told him that I am a definite return customer!! 10 THUMBS UP! :-) Pros: Fantastic place Cons: On the costly side, but you get your money's worth. more

Amazing Service 4/30/2008

I am a college student at Pitt, and I went to the spa for my first time this April. I've always wanted to get my hair straightened but I didn't think it was possible, my hair is crazy curly and thick. I had the owner (Jerri, not sure of the spelling) for my services, she was AMAZING! She was very polite, and took a lot of care and put a lot of thought into every step of the process. She straightened my hair with the Unreel Straightening System, and then gave me a designer haircut. This is the first time I've ever had short hair and I LOVE it! I'm going to go back to get some color and highlights put into my hair. The Spa is an amazing place. Pros: Amazing services and employees Cons: Price more

great experience 4/9/2008

had my hair cut and colored today with kim, the color is amazing and i have never had someone pay so much attention to detail in every step of the way through the entire process. blondes are her thing, and i will certainly spread the word about the amazing experience i had with her. she brings professionalism and personality in all that she does. this girl is brilliant with color, i just cant say enough good things about my experience!!!! My daughter and I recently had our hair colored and cut by Rachel. It was a wonderful experience. The staff is very friendly and attentive. We will continue going to Spa Uptown and to Rachel. Cons: Because it is downtown, you have to pay for parking. more

Excellent Customer Service 2/26/2008

Spa Uptown is the best salon I have ever been to in my life. I have been going to this spa for almost a year now and cannot imagine going anywhere else. Shayla is a fantastic hair stylist. Everyone that works at the spa has great customer service, as soon as you come in the door they are asking you if you need help with something( and believe me that doesn't happen anywhere else). I've always had a pleasant experience when I leave there, Deborah is great, I love the way she does my eye lashes and she shows such fabulous interest in what she is doing. I have recommended this spa to everyone I know, this is one place where everyone makes you feel comfortable and that is so important. Bad service 2/22/2008

I had my hair colored at Uptown Salon. It had everything from blonde to patches of black in it. It was supposed to be one color - light brown - close to my natural color. I had my hair colored at other salons for years before I went to this salon (based on a recommendation), and never had any problems with color before. I returned to the salon so someone else could fix the color disaster, but it became very dry and overprocessed. Cons: lack of knowledgeable/friendly staff, parking, appointment availability more

I visited Spa UpTown with my one of my girlfriends for our little "girls day out" we both enjoyed a hot stone message. it was truely amazing. this was my first experience at this particular spa, and i was very impressed. the salon area is very clean and well presented, along with the spa rooms and shower area. the staff was very helpful and greeted everyone promptly. would highly reccoment to all age, will be visiting agian very soon!! Excellent professional customer service! 1/4/2008

I visited Spa Uptown to have my hair highlighted and trimmed. The hair stylist, Kim, was new so I didn't know what to expect. I was 10 minutes early and even though Kim was with another customer, she took a minute to come out to the waiting area, introduce herself and let me know that she would be just a few more minutes. Her professionalism continued as she carried my coat and briefcase to her workstation. She noticed that I had finished reading a magazine while waiting for my color to set. She immediately brought me a new magazine. She also offered another beverage. I have always believed that it is the "little things" that we do that make people feel good about an experience.
