The location was excellent the treatment delivered and received was extremely professsional and relaxing. Services provided were massage and manicure both of which were very good. Best Haircut Ever! 12/4/2007

I have had the best hair care ever at The Spa Uptown. Jack, who cuts my hair, is so talented - he listens to what you want, then creates a style which is attractive, flattering, and easy to recreate at home. The staff is always cheerful and since I usually have to get the cut during my lunch hour, Jack is always mindful of my time restrictions. It is not an exaggeration to say that going to The Spa Uptown has changed my life - my hairstyle is so attractive, easy to maintain, and I have gotten many compliments. I hope I never have to have my hair cut anywhere else again! more

Best, most trustworthy hairstylist in the Burgh 10/10/2007

I've been going to John to have my hair cut, styled, colored, highlighted -- you name it -- for about 5 years and he's just awesome! He knows exactly what to do to make my hair look good....it's a completely stress free experience. I don't have to worry about bringing a picture of an exact hairstyle I want, or try to figure out on my own, what color highlights would look best on me...I just leave it all up to him. And I know, without a doubt, that he'll pick something that I'll love and that looks fabulous -- every time! Plus - it's always a fun time to see John, chat and just unwind! All of the other stylists are very friendly as well and often remember me since I've been coming for awhile to see John. Izir is especially friendly!! PS - This is my first time posting. more

Exceptional Service 9/13/2007

This shop is one of the best that I've been too. Stacy, Shayla and Annie are just great. Stacy is always so friendly when you walk in or call on the phone. Shayla does an excellent job with my hair, I just love her. And Annie is kindess, gentless person when it comes to waxing. I will not go any place else. They are just wonderful, I recommend the shop all the time. more

I love spa uptown. I have only being going there a little over two months, since my hair dresser moved to spa uptown. At spa uptown everyone makes you feel relaxed and welcomed. I love how professional everyone is and the cleaniness of the place. They make you feel like a million bucks when you only have $5.00. I have recommended several people and will continued to do so in the future. They have great hours for everyone busy schedules, they are even open on Sunday's, it does not get any better than that. Excellent Customer Service and Styling 8/5/2007

I have recvd. a variety of services at Spa Uptown. All services were creatively and properly completed to my satisfaction. The entire staff were friendly and paid attention to all the details and needs of the client. My only hesitation for making Spa Uptown my regular place for hair color and style is my difficulty parking in the area. Perhaps if I move downtown it will become the ONLY place I go for services. After trying many different places, I can safely say that Spa Uptown is my favorite spa in Pittsburgh. The staff is always very personable and professional, and the prices are very competitive. If you live or work in the city, the location is ideal for a little after-work pampering. more

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED...NO, MAD!!!!! 6/29/2007

I couldn't believe what I was reading just now on the other poor reviews. I went in last night as a beautiful bleached blonde (my hair that is) & left with brown hair that looks like I'm going quite gray. I wanted to cry when the girl was rinsing the color off my hair. I went in to get my roots touched up! He decided my hair looked awful. My boyfriend thought it looked pretty stellar. I spent 4 hours of my precious time and $170 last night to look like everyone else in the crowd. Tomorrow morning I will spend just as much at another salon getting them to undo everything I had done last night. If you're a bleached blonde, RUN AWAY! I will NEVER go back. ~Extremely disappointed. more

TERRIBLE!!! 3/9/2006

I just got highlights and lowlights done and they were awful. He basically did not want to listen to a word i said about what I wanted - he actually told me what i should do then walked away while i was in mid sentence. He botched my hair to the point where the left side starts with dark brown and the right side starts with blond?? how do you do that?? I will never go back and way overpriced- I can get this color for the same price in NY but a thousand times better. I have to go back to someone to make it look better - ridiculous Cons: Incompetent, Expensive more

Great Spa Experience 10/22/2005

Spa Uptown was a great experience for me. I had a facial and a pedicure. The woman who gave me the facial was very knowledgeable and took the time to ask questions about my skin and habits. It was very relaxing and I felt refreshed and calm as I left the salon. My pedicure was also very good. I have had many pedicures in various salons and Spa Uptown was definately one of the best. I had a great total-spa experience when I visited Spa Uptown. I was treated like royalty! I loved it! My friend recommended this place and I liked the idea because it is downtown PGH. My massage was amazing! I also got my hair cut and colored and I am very hard to please. But, the stylist made me feel completely comfortable & together we came up with a more up to date look for me. I received a trip to spa uptown as an anniversary gift. My husband bought the gift certificates on a recommendation from one of my friends in Pittsburgh. It was wonderful. I had a massage, a pedicure, a manicure, and a facial. I walked out of there feeling totally de-stressed. I have been to some pretty expensive spas in Annapolis, which is where I live now, and spa uptown gave the same excellent service without the outrageous cost. I would definitely recommend it.
