I had a facial followed by a pedicure. I was with the same technician Erin, who was a doll. She was patient with me answering all my pesky questions about my skin and educating me on skincare. I went for a paraffin manicure and pedicure in the beginning of January. I loved it! They had coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cookies available. The staff was curious and knowledgeable. I came in with calloused feet and broken nails and left soft, smooth and polished. Even better, they melted my stress away. Check it out! The staff at Spa Uptown is not only caring and professional, but they really know their stuff! I recently got a facial at the spa and was very impressed with the advice I received about my face during it. I had a lot of questions answered. Overall, I had a wonderful day. This is a great overall salon. I first encountered Spa Uptown under its former name over 25 years ago. I have been a loyal customer since. My children have been clients from the time of their first haircut (my twin boys are now 14). What makes this place great for us is that they can and do serve our entire family. Izear is not just talented but he is genuinely a wonderful person. We enjoy the familiar atmosphere and the accommodating service. I highly recommend this salon to men and women alike. For men I highly recommend the advantages of having an appointment that is honored and thereby a real time savings over traditional barbers or hair cutting establishments. I had m hair styled and colored - the coloring was free because I was ay first time customer. Geri was recommended and I received one of the poorest hair cut/styles ever with a razor cut and no shaping of my strairght har. The coloring was done so poorly that on the right side of my head the grey was not covered at all from the bottom of my forehead to around my ear about a inch into the hair ~ yikes I don't miss this when I color my own hair at home how can a professinal? I scheduled an appointment with another stylist and he was surprised how much of my hair was not colored. At Uptown my hair was colored first and then trimmed. While it was being trimmed I commented on how much of the hair falling on the cape and floor was so grey and it was just fluffed off. I called an left a message for Geri complaining about the poor coloring ~ I know it was free, but I expected it to be done properly. I never even received a courtesy return phone call, how very unprofessional. No contact saying the color could be corrected./or other services offered. What a disappointment, what a terrible way to run a business a zero for style, skill and customer service. What a waste of $100 - I was stupid enough to give a tip because I had not really brushed my hair myself and looked at it closely in my home mirror.l Pros: salon is clean Cons: poor skills and services more

As a salon and spa-goer at Spa-Uptown for over 2 years, I can assure you that I have never been disappointed with their service, staff, or the overall experience. As a college student, and especially as a beauty pageant contestant, looking my best at every moment is a necessity. Staying on top of the current trends, and always making sure my hair styles and color match my personality and lifestyle is essential! This is why I have chosen Spa-Uptown. The stylists know who you are as a person. They want to know your personality, your daily routine, your likes and dislikes, so when they cut, color, or style your hair they are sure that it will not only work for your everyday life, but that you look and feel fabulous when you step out of their chair. As Kim has said many times: "That's my name walking around on your head." They take pride in their work, and they will do whatever it takes to ensure your happiness with it. There are so many salons who can simply cut and color your hair if you take them a picture of a particular style or idea. But at Spa-Uptown, they sit with you to discuss what length might work a bit better to frame your face, or what color might need tweaked a bit to compliment your eyes. The personal attention is what really guarantees that when you walk out of their salon you can say with pride that Spa-Uptown is your salon of choice. Along with a fabulous team of hair stylists, is their wonderful Spa staff! No only have I had my hair done with Kim, but I have had the opportunity to get massages, body scrubs, and pedicures. I must say that it is The Best way that I could recommend to relax or decompress after a stressful week. (Or just to treat yourself to pampering!) The atmosphere inside the spa area is incredibly serene. Once you have stepped through their doors you will forget immediately that you are in the heart of Downtown Pittsburgh's busy streets. For many years I found myself going to the same JOB SHOP salons, receiving the same haircut and color as the person before me, now things have changed. At Spa Uptown the customer does matter! I had yet to find a stylist in PGH that I was happy with--nothing like a bad haircut to make you skittish! But having liked my Uptown experience for other services (see end of review), I decided to give their hair salon a try. Best. Decision. ever. I was thinking BIG change, and fully expected a hair stylist I'd never met to shy away from my idea. I'm almost 30, and a professional, so though I wanted something dramatic I also knew it had to be versatile. I didn't have a photo, but I was thinking something really short, edgy but with class. In essence, Rihanna hair. Mind you, I went IN with long, thick, curly hair down to the middle of my back. Anthony was AMAZING. He consulted with me for almost half an hour, poring over photos online and in magazines to ensure that we were speaking the same language. He had no qualms about cutting my hair super-short (once he had confirmed that that was indeed what I was after!) and did an *incredible* job. I have had nothing but compliments--everyone I know is blown away by how amazing my hair looks. It was a huge leap of faith, and completely well worth it. And, at $50, I'd say it was a steal. I have finally found a hairdresser to call my own! (other bonuses: no product pushing, super-friendly but not overbearing staff, soothing environment) Past review: I got a Signature Facial followed by an Hour-Long Swedish Massage. What a wonderful experience. The amenities were fantastic, the place was clean, quiet, and relaxing. Erin gave me the BEST facial I have *ever* gotten, and my skin is still glowing. She also sent me home with a complimentary follow-up masque and recommended a product that I purchased and cannot wait to try. It was fantastic. The massage I got from Jennifer was also very good--I felt refreshed, relaxed, and rejuvenated. I highly recommend Spa Uptown. I just recently had highlights put in my hair at Spa Uptown and they did an awesome job! I had never had any color on my hair before, but Geri helped me to pick out a color that would compliment my natural hair color, and be noticed by people without being too loud. I've received so many compliments on it! I love it, my husband loves it! Everyone at Spa Uptown was really nice and friendly-down to earth. They were professional without being "stuffy" which I look for in someone who will be doing my hair. I would definitely go back! more

I had my hair, nails and make-up done at Spa Uptown for my wedding on Saturday, October 11th. Everything turned out fabulous, but I have to give extra special thanks to Rachael Skirchak who did my hair and make-up. I gave her two pictures as reference for my hair style and she nailed it. I LOVED her work and would highly recommend her. I even had her weave a 90 year old hair piece that my great-grandmother wore into my hair and she made it look great. I got tons of compliments.
