I organized a celebratory dinner for a large group of 16, on a Saturday night, which was wonderful. I contacted the restaurant in advance regarding ease of seating etc. for such a...

Worst

One positive note on Sibling Rivalry is that you can always be seated. Not the most popular restaurant in Southend. The menu was so limted we had to settle for something less tha...

did not live up to hype 6/24/2005

Agree with others that menu was difficult to figure out, would have been better if they would have a set menu showcasing both brothers in direct comparison. Decor was trendy and fun, but tables were almost overlapping with the next. Food was overall good, maybe a bit on the salty side. The best description of Lobster terrine app was ""weird"". The main courses were tasty but not worth the exorbitant prices. All of this would have been forgiveable were it not for the inattentive service. We had to ask twice for our water to be refilled and twice for bread. Service was disorganized and we did not get the professional service that should come with a restaurant of this reputation. Unfortunately we still feel obligated to fork out a lot of tip. Overall the experience was lacking. Pros: dessert Cons: service, price more

not worth it 6/1/2005

This restaurant is not all that it is cracked up to be. We had reservations and were seated promptly but we waited about 15 min for the menu, which was difficult to read. The appetizers were tasty, but the entrees needed some help. The waiter was slow and not very attentive to our needs. We went there for a Birthday celebration and it was nothing close to a celebration. When the waiter came with the dessert he said that he could not find any candles but happy birthday anyways, I figure he just forgot from the preious service he had given us. I have dined at much better places than this in Boston - it was a disappointment. more

Many better places to go 5/22/2005

The evening was off to a lousy start with an incident with the valet. The nights specials seemed to be read as we were seated, and pressure for an order was intense. Our food arrived promptly, which was nice, but the wine we had ordered was nowhere to be found. Every person we asked couldnt seem to help us and our server had vanished when we needed him most. When we asked where our wine was he said we never ordered it, which was insulting. The service was surprisingly bad, especially for the price of the food, which was very good. Good food isnt everything and the service/experience left a bad taste. After hearing some good reviews we thought we would give it a try. In this case curiosity definitely did kill the cat. We wont be coming back any time soon, and wouldnt recommend it to friends. Pros: good food Cons: bad service more

Vegetarians Be Warned... 5/8/2005

Vegetarians do not get to choose a chef, or an entree from the menu. My meal consisted of a plate full of vegetables. They were perfectly cooked and delicious - but come on! Why can't there be one vegetarian option from each chef. Any other hip restaurant in Boston would have a vegetarian option. Excellent service. Great decor. Amazing menu. No vegetarian food. Pros: ambiance, drinks, service Cons: no vegetarian entree more

Perfection 3/14/2005

Everything was amazing, from the Menage a Trois blanc and perfectly paired little salt cod tartlet bites - through my salmon entree which was moist perfection paired with creamy mushrooms, gorgeous herbs and wraped in a crispy filo wrap, to the heavenly desserts. We sampled the Bananas Napolean (couldn't get enough), the insane layered lime pie dessert - each new layer burst in the mouth in a whole new experience, and the apple tart. Each just out of this world. Acoustics were amazing. Seats comfortable. Servers knowledgable, perfectly courteous, prompt & attentive. Menu just fun! Bravo. Don't want them to change a thing. Just wish I still lived a block away.... though I suppose I'd be broke. more

disappointed 1/4/2005

Sunday lunch, place almost empty, I got offered the table all the way in the back corner?!?!?, nobody sat at any other table. The food comes, so the waitress said, as it ""comes on the window"", are we at a diner or a drive through? As the food arrived I had to make space on the table, which I don't mind in acasual place, but not where the service pretends to be professional. They incourage sharing for lunch, which is a great idea, but what about some serving utensils, and speaking of portion control!, I am willing to pay more, but give me a little more, if I have to share it! At least the flavours where all alomost there and interesting. The tune tartare a bit greasier than expected, poached egg on duck confit definately a must! more

Top 5 Boston ! 12/15/2004

A great new addition to our city! Yes the menu is very different and can be confusing, but it is well explained by the server when they greet you. The decor is wonderful, rather there are 3 separate dining areas, with totally different feels to them. An open kitchen ampitheater dining room, lounge, and upscale dining area, for more formal dining. The food is superb, perhaps they could go a little easy on the salt, but nevertheless, unbelievably tasty. I vote for chef david, overall, but chef bob is simply no slouch either. Short ribs are divine, as well as the scallops and duck ! more

contemporary setting, beautiful food 11/27/2004

We ate here for Thanksgiving and unfortunately, there was no brother v brother type menu set-up. No problem, we went for the 4 course holiday menu. The space is striking. The service is restrained (bordering on the slow side). Salt wasn't a problem, though they ran out of dessert items. My pumpkin bread pudding was heavy on the chocolate chips and lacked pumpkin. Small quibble considering the great entrees. more

Too confusing menu.. 11/14/2004

Extremely confusing menu...One shouldn't have to work so hard to order..the idea of the brothers is fine..but most people don't order according to ingredients...the room to the left as you walk in is sterile and my dining partner had is back to the entire restaurant.... just ok in my book...I'd just as soon get a pizza next door. more

Great, but salty 10/31/2004

Havre the fried squid, the duck in port sauce, the creamed spinach, the sweet potato pie with great cinnamon ice cream, the chocolate daquoise - they are all wonderful - but drink plenty of water - the use lots of salt. Otherwise, a great experience, especially with friends. Pros: Food Food, Service, Service more
