One positive note on Sibling Rivalry is that you can always be seated. Not the most popular restaurant in Southend. The menu was so limted we had to settle for something less tha...

Very Poor Service 4/28/2007

We made an 8:30 reservation a week in advance and when we arrived at the restaurant tonight, they told us that our table wasn't quite ready, so we should go into the lounge and wait for them to come get us. When we went to the lounge, it was packed with others waiting for their tables as well so there was no room to even stand. Half an hour later, we followed up with the hostess and again she repeated, ""we'll come get you when your table is ready."" We of course asked how much longer she thought it would be, and instead of telling us anything, or apologizing for our already extended wait, she just said they would find us in the lounge. Finally (40 minutes later), they did offer to buy us a round of drinks while we waited, but we decided to wait for our meal for our drinks. Another half hour later, our table was finally ready. For the restaurant to not have had any idea at all that they were running over an hour late was completely unacceptable. If they had told us up front that they were running so late, we might have chosen to do something different, or maybe we would have ordered an appetizer and drinks at the bar. They kept giving us the illusion that it would only be another 5 to 10 minutes longer. \r After finally sitting down and ordering, the food overall was just ok. Our appetizers of tuna tartar and the bufala mozzarella were exceptional, but everything else was just average. We ordered for our main course: the flat iron steak, the lamb, the crispy duck (which had to be sent back because it was so bad), and the chicken entree. We ordered 3 desserts: banana bread pudding (which was luke warm), vanilla angel food cake, and the triple chocolate fondue. \r Food review: Presentation was outstanding (the food really looked appetizing!). Unfortunately the taste of the food did not quite match the esthetics. \r Needless to say, we will not be returning to Sibling Rivalry especially with all the other outstanding restaurant options in the area. Pros: Tuna tartar appetizer Cons: service, food just average more

Great food, service and ambience 4/7/2007

Our group of four had made a reservation for 8:30 on a Friday night but weren't seated until 9:15. We were a bit annoyed but at least had a couple of seats at the bar. Once seated our servers were courteous and attentive. The food was excellent. I got the Pan-Seared Veal Hanger Steak and it was delicious. Even got a side order garlic mashed potatoes. There's definitely enough food. Despite the delayed seating, the waiters were great and the food yummy. I would definitely go back. Pros: Delicious upscale food Cons: Reservations may not matter on a weekend night more

Best Food in Boston Again and Again 3/17/2007

I've tried to find better food in Boston for the money and I just can't seem to do it. Todd English's Olives can come close, but can't match the diversity of flavors and outstanding quality at Sibling Rivalry. Been there over 5 times and never have I had a bad experience. The Setting: Modern and simple, not the high point of the restaurant, but not the focus either. The room is upscale without being stuffy. The Service: Strong service, never pushy, courteous, and knowledgeable. The Food: Now here's the highlight, great flavors, ingredients, and diversity. I like the mix of small plates and large plates. Two small plates are reasonable priced, enough food for a meal, and give a mixture of styles from Asian, French, to Latin. And try the gnocchi side dish! Overall: Outstanding and recommended! Pros: Great quality, diversity of flavors, small and large plates Cons: Decor is simple and not exciting more

AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3/6/2007

I absolutely love this restaurant, I live in the south end and have went in here several times. I is my fave restaurant in the city. It is always exceptional and the service is great. The food is over the top, I recently had the sweetbread raviolis, delicious and the spicy tuna tartare is the best!!! I usually always get the duck, which can melt in your mouth. \r I love sitting at the chef bar, it can be very entertaining watching them cook. The wine and cocktails are great, the Kiwi Martini is so good. The bar is also fun after dinner, they had some great music later in the evening, it was a very good time. I will be back sometime soon. Pros: service more

THE worst group dining experience 2/2/2007

A party of 10 was obviously too much to handle for this snooty waitstaff. Our group had to wait over an hour to be seated when the reservation had been booked well in advance. They didn't apologize once and when we told them we were going to be late for a post-dinner event, they balked, ""Well we didn't know you had plans after dinner"". Well ok, I guess we didn't know the true meaning of a reservation. When we were finally seated in a ""private room"", more like just a back room, the food was unmemorable and the service was non-existent. For my friend's birthday cake, they were nice enough to give her 5 stale cookies and a mug . I have never had such a bad dining experience, especially in the much beloved South End. Best group dining?? No way! Worst! Sibling Rivalry needs to get their overrated, overpriced act together! Cons: Service was horrible and overpriced and unmemorable food more

Love the variety of food! 2/2/2007

I went to dinner here a few months ago as a surprise from my boyfriend. He knew that I had been wanting to try out this unique dining concept. I love the dueling menu idea and the variety of food that I get to choose from even more. We shared the duxbury mussels to start and I was expecting a few mussels, but it was a full size appetizer portion and if I had ordered them by myself I would've definitely been more than half full. I then ordered the pumpkin raviolis and there were only 4 of them, but with the butter sauce, I wouldn't have been able to eat any more than that due to the richness. It was delicious however. I also had the lamb brik, which is ground lamb wrapped in a pastry/dough. I'm obviously simplifying the ingredients, but it was good and very rich as well. My boyfriend got the rib eye and it was huge! We're used to eating at fine dining establishments like Spire or Top of the Hub, where meat portions are on the small side. The price of his rib eye was the same as other places, but the portion size was probably 3 times bigger. We also ordered the parmesan zucchini strings because we thought we would need to supplement our dishes in order to be full, but I was so stuffed, I didn't even finish my lamb brik. I was so disappointed that I did not get to try the desserts. They looked so good. Food aside, the service was good and our waitress was attentive. I'm actually going back to eat dinner there tonight and I'm determined to have dessert this time! Pros: yummy food, variety, service Cons: no parking more

Love this place-brunch, lunch, dinner 1/10/2007

Sibling Rivalry is one of the best resturants in Boston. Their two chefs create amazing food for brunch, lunch and dinner. Both food and service is to excellence. The decor is modern and fun. Everytime I have been to Sibling Rivalry I have enjoyed their food, wine and service, and will return soon. \r \r Pros: Food, service, location, (bathroom) more

Best Customer Service 9/28/2006

I've been here twice in the past two months, both for birthday dinners. the food was great but the best part was the service. I am really big on customer service, and the waiters are extremely friendly and helpful. they do more than just candles in your dessert for birthdays. They go out of their way to print ""happy birthday chris"" on the menus, and also on the dessert plate. Before you leave, they also give you a mug with cookies and a copy of the personalized birthday menu. -- everything they do makes you feel really welcomed. more

Best DESSERTS i've ever had!! 8/23/2006

My friends and I tried Sibling for the very first time last week and from the host to service to the wine and dinner and the dessert, our entire dining experience was amazing! We had pretty much everything, but without a doubt, the dessert blew our minds. The Have your cake and eat it too was adorable and ingenius, the passionfruit cheesecake was the most imaginative presentation, and then the seven layer mocha cake was perfect -- decadent, and yet the perfect protion for such decadance! i have to say though as well, the grand manier creme brulee was beyond original -- an edible after-dinner apertif! kudos to the kinkead brothers for finding their pastry chef gem jessica goryl! more

Outstanding Perfection! 5/10/2006

The food was too die for not to mention the blood orange martini is a must have and the service was outstanding!!! The trendy decor and great atmosphere is the perfect spot for dinner and a few drinks with friends. I must say you need to try the pumpkin ravioli and the tuna appetizers - dont forget to leave room for dessert ..... you will be glad you did. Pros: Great Service, Oustanding Cuisine, Trendy more

Great Service,Food and Portions for your money!! 4/26/2006

Sibling Rivalry provided a great dining experience ........ impressive food, service and decor . The restaurant has a chic and modern but stately decor. The menu is nicely varied, with something for everyone, and I ordered the swordfish, it was cooked to perfection I also ordered the pumpkin ravioli and the ravioli was exquisite just enough because it is an appetizer not a meal like someone else wrote. The waitstaff was very attentive and provided great, nondisruptive service. I must suggest the blood orange martini and that you definitely save room for dessert . I look forward to going back again! Pros: Great Food, Service, prices & portions Cons: NOTHING more

Best in Boston!!! 4/24/2006

I had been hearing a buzz about Sibling Rivalry for several months.... all good, so my fiance and I decided to try it out we live about 30 min outside of Boston and let me tell you it was worth the drive!! We made reservations and were seated right away the waitress was great very attentive. The martinis were fantastic and they had an exquisite wine menu, we started off with a few appetizers that were to die for I must suggest the pumkin ravioli , beet salad and tuna then dinner topped that the the swordfish melted in my mouth. The food came out timed perfectly!! I was told by my server they make some changes seasonally to keep it exciting! Pros: Great Service, Vegetarian Options, Outstanding Food more

What's the hype all about? 4/22/2006

I went to try this restaurant out before going to the theatre in the early afternoon. I was surprised at the little amount of food that I got for the price. I ordered Pumpkin Ravioli as an entree. The dish came with 3 raviolis on it. I walked away from the restaurant hungry and $21 out of pocket. I think it's high on pretence and low on value---there are far better places to visit and spend your money in Boston. Pros: Close to the Theatre Cons: Expensive, small servings, inattentive waiters more

Night to Remember 3/19/2006

Two friends of mine, myself and my husband had dinner last night at Sibling Rivalry and the experience simply couldn't have been better! The food was terrific, and the concept of the two chefs was a blast! Our server, Fred was attentive but not annoying, made some great suggestins for food and wine, and the atmosphere of the place was perfect. The only flaw in the evening was the extremely rude woman behind us who didn't even apologize when she shattered two wine glasses with her coat when she got up to leave! more

Top Notch Food and Service 2/19/2006

Where do I start the drinks were out of this world, the service was top notch and I loved the atmosphere!! We started with a few app`s and they were so exquisite, the portion size of our dinners were perfect and presented so well not too mention how great the food tasted. We finished with a few desserts I must recommend the desserts we ordered a few for the table and they were the best I have ever had! Pros: Great Service, Great atmosphere, Outstanding Food Cons: a little pricey more

All hype, below average food 2/16/2006

Nice attempt at a unique concept, my wife and I gave it two chances and we would not go back there again. It has a nice location and a good ambience but the food does not live up to the expectations. Drinks were nice but overpriced, Tuna was overcooked, service was average. I would not dine there again. Pros: drinks, nice location Cons: food, too expensive more

Not all you think it is... buyer beware! 1/12/2006

We went to Sibling Rivalry tonight and had 3 thoughts: 1. Poor service: Our waitress was at our table too much. She would ask the a question after we just answered it one minute prior. We received our dinner before our cocktails. (Without explanation just excuses and no apology.) She was awkward, unknowledgable and just down-right annoying. 2. Cool name, bad decor: The name, concept and logo are great- but, the decor was terrible and ""corporate modern"" cheapo looking. The staff was dressed goofy and not cool at all. It is too bad they didn't embrace the urban setting and take the conept to the next level. 3. The food was tasty: The concept of the 2 brothers is great and the portions were decent sized but it was really expensive. We left paying close to $100.00 for 2 entrees and only 2 cocktails. (Including a tip.) Pros: Good food, Nice logo Cons: Poor service, Weird ambiance, Over priced more

Very Impressed 8/17/2005

I went here for my birthday and was very pleased. The food was excellent, im still thinking about it till now, the service was great, and the amience was perfect for a date. I will definitely come back here. Pros: food, service, location Cons: pricey, NA, NA more

Great Dinner 8/1/2005

I had heard a lot of great things about Sibling Rivalry, and the experience lived up to the hype. It is a fun place, not too pretentious and not stuffy at all. The location is great. Valet parking. The bar attracts stylish people. I love the Kirkland martini. The dining room has a great view of the kitchen. The menu is so diverse, although I did not like my dinner combination of salmon and Mexican flavors of black beans and spicy chile rellano. The service was wonderful. It's just a fun place to be. Pros: Great food, Fun location, Valet parking Cons: Expensive, Not enough beef more

Excellent service and delicious food 7/14/2005

My friends took me here for a birthday celebration and we could not have been more impressed! Our waitress was extremely knowledgeable and didn't mind answering all of our questions in detail. Between the three of us, we had the halibut, lamb, and cod dishes and there was hardly anything left on our plates! We shared a sinfully yummy chocolate dessert and would definitely go back there for another special occasion. I can't wait to take my boyfriend there for a romantic night out. Pros: Service, Ambiance, Food flavors Cons: Does get crowded, Kind of pricy more
