Horrible Financial aid Office 6/13/2014

I was schedule to take enroll during this summer June 23 but the lady had me change my fasa statues to independent to dependent and I needed to resubmit it again. I did and still had time to enroll but it turned out my status was correct the first time and I need to resubmit the corrections again. She told me I can go in the fall unless I want to pay with my masters card. Also I asked and they never revived my faxed tuition papers from high school. I never taken any classes never will. The people at the financial office truly don't care about any student, don't answer their phone or email and I believe the lady never actually even looked up my fasa on her computer. Truly horrible school I'm thankfully I had this experience because I can't imagine what the teachers are like more

Good school, terrible Financial Aid department 9/10/2012

While the school is pretty good for obtaining an AA online, the Financial Aid department is absolutely terrible. The people working there are unprofessional and rude, not to mention incapable of doing their jobs. They don't check their fax machine or respond to emails or phone calls. Just about every single person I have ever met who has gone here has had problems with what may be the most important department in the school. Why have these people not been fired? more

Shoreline Dental Hygiene Program 8/27/2010

If you are considering the DH program at Shoreline Community College, I would get myself ready for a very stressful experience. The instructors have made many students cry and most are very unsupportive. You are required to find your own patients and if the patient does not show up your grade goes down. Each quarter you have certain requirements to get done and all the students have to find the patients with the same requirements. This puts students in a very competitive position, and many will not share their patients even if they don't need them just to make sure they have them for next quarter. The last few weeks of each quarter are a frantic attempt at finishing your requirements. Another thing about the instructors, they are very happy to point out any mistakes you make infront of the patient you are working on, and this erodes any confidence the patient might have in you. Also, the receptionist will periodically leave early, and you have to finish up early, even if this means you will have to ask the patient to come back for a final check from the instructor. Many patients are not happy about that. The instuctors also play favorites, and if you get on the wrong side of an instuctor, you will have a very difficult time. If you do decide to attend this school, just be very careful, it is a very stressful environment, and can bring out the worst in people. more

Good Opportunities 10/27/2005

This is a great school to go to right after high school. They have a lot of choices for different classes and offer lots of ranges of majors. I got my associates here and enjoyed most of the classes that I took. I especially enjoyed the women's studies (Rachel David is amazing!) and it was a great overall experience. The only downfall is that I really feel like it is overcrowded. Parking is a mess and walking through the campus can be hard during the peak hours. more

Nice School, not alot of parking 9/9/2005

The only thing that keeps me from giving SCC a perfect rating is the lack of available parking. If you have class at say, 8am, you MUST get there no later than 7am to ensure a parking space within a mile of the building. If you're not so lucky, you'll either spend an hour driving around the lot hoping for a space, or you'll be relegated to parking out in the dirt pit behind the automotive department. Not fun when it's been raining for 4 months and the 'pit' is more of a 'lake' That being said, the professors and staff are helpful and instructive. If you're taking prerequisites for the nursing program, be prepared to be pushed hard and far and most of your teachers will give you exams that make you ask yourself "Am I taking an exam for the right class?" The nursing program is very competitive. Unless you have a 4.0 AND years of experience as a CNA or EMT, don't even try to apply. it'll be a tremendous waste of your time and money. more

Dolphins Rule! 8/14/2005

I forsook my junior and senior years in high school to attend Shoreline Community College and found it to be a great school. My professors were all great ( with only one exception), and the advisors were better than the ones I had at UW. The course selection is excellent for those who want to transfer to a four year school, and for those who don't there are many fine certification programs to choose from. The campus is also very pleasant and conveniently located in north seattle. more

Some great professors and a nice campus 8/4/2005

I took only one class here, but thorougly enjoyed it (even though it was calculus and a summer class). I learned more than I learned in any other college level math class because the professor explained things multiple ways because she understood that different people respond to different techniques. This is a great college and I definitely recommend it to anyone looking at community colleges in the area. more

Shoreline Community College 7/29/2005

Shoreline is a nice school and a particularly good option for students interested in automotive technology or dental hygiene. Shoreline's automotive program has sponsorships with local dealerships (Honda, Toyota, etc.) whereby they will pay for your schooling and in return when you graduate you will work for them. Not bad if you want close to guaranteed employment. Also their dental hygiene program is great and has a good reputation in the community. A nice college it is for those programs. The campus is nice too and located in driving distance to downtown Seattle. more
