Best

Our child loved this place. Lots of other families here and good selection of Yummy sweet stuff. Much for kids to look at and keep busy...

Worst

I always wanted to go to this place after seeing the movie. It was a disappoinment. The service was slow, the food so-so. The frozen hot chocolate was good but pricey. The chocola...

Not family friendly at all! Rude servers and no high chairs 8/5/2010

I took a bunch of out-of-towners and my 11 month old to this restaurant because I read online that it was family friendly. It was packed on a random Sunday evening around 6pm and the host informed us that the wait would be 1 hour. My friends and I put our name down on the list. We decided to eat dinner at Patsy's across the street (which was fabulous and very budget friendly) and then grab some dessert at Serendipity afterwards. more

Ewwww - Hair in Food and Rude Service to Boot! 7/29/2010

Don't waste your time or money going to this place--it's totally overrated and because they are so popular, they don't make customer service a priority. My husband had several hairs embedded in his open-faced turkey sandwich with melted brie--it was disgusting. When we notified one of the owners, they told us that none of the cooks in the kitchen had that type of hair and that the chef was bald. Um, ok, so I guess then what she was implying was that WE put the hair very deep into the sandwich. Frankly, it could have been her hair for all we know. She gave us a totally fake apology, then reluctantly comped the check at my husband's insistence. We didn't even bother to stay for the ice cream. BTW--the food for the most part was not good--poor presentation, badly cooked. With all the good restaurants in NY, this one is not worth your time or money. Stay away! Pros: Absolutely Nothing Cons: People are packed in, rude owners, bad food more

Everyone in the party MUST ORDER at least 9 dollars in food 7/7/2010

We came to this place to taste their supposed amazing ice cream creations. It was a mistake. After waiting an hour outside which is understandable we were sat down. I was with my husband. Cons: For every 1 dollar in purchase they give u 1 minute to sit more

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE 6/21/2010

I went here on Saturday night with 7 other friends. We did not make a reservation and the wait was an hour and a half. We came back and were seated. Took awhile for any wait staff to even acknowledge our party. Finally ordered 7 frozen hot chocolates and a double double chocolate cake and none of us were happy. The frozen hot chocolate was watery and disgusting. I don't know if we came on a bad night, but all eight of us had complaints. The next time we saw the waiter was when he dropped the check off and left. No comment. No interaction. Horrible service. Three of us ended up being overcharged on our credit cards and when I called to sort this out all I received was rudeness and the excuse that it wasn't their fault. Worst experience I have had dining in NYC. Cons: Rude wait staff and management. more

Love this place! 6/11/2010

As good as everyone says it is. Looove the deserts! Some of the best pie in NYC--you can't go wrong with a slice of the apple. I would totally bring out of town friends to visit. more

A New Yorker and Tourist Favorite 5/11/2010

If you are in the mood for a frozen hot chocolate on a Saturday night, be prepared to wait...and wait. But it's definitely worth it! Actually, everything is fantastic at Serendipity 3. But word of advice...save room for dessert. My favorite is the peanutbutter frozen hot chocolate. The gift area in the front of the restaurant will surely lure you in, as well as the cute and antique-y design aesthetic. Pros: Delicious and chocolatey desserts, great food Cons: Long wait! more

Tasty Treats! 4/4/2010

I'm a born and raised New Yorker that had never gone to Serendipity3. I've been hearing so many mixed reviews...that I decided to try it out myself. I brought along my boyfriend (he had never been there either). We went just for desserts, therefore, we did not make reservations. We went late afternoon on a Friday. There was a wait, however, it was only for about 25 minutes. We shared a Frozen Hot Chocolate & a Big Apple pie...which we loved! The service was great! I read reviews about the service being horrible...not sure what that was about...I had no problem with mine. I can't give my opinion on the food as I only went for dessert. So if you're in the mood for some tasty treats, I definitely recommend this place. Pros: Yummy Frozen Hot Chocolate Cons: Having to wait on line more

Can't wait to try it! 3/24/2010

when I read the description and saw the video, I can't wait to go to New-york to try it!! Pros: tons of different desserts Cons: should be focused on desserts only! more

One of a kind 2/6/2010

I wasn't sure what to do first eat my chocolate sunday of by a table lamp. The place is certainly an experiance. And make sure you don't eat anything three days prior as you will make up in the calories in about 10 minutes. Haha Cons: Long wait more

Special Treat 10/12/2009

Once you start feasting on the frozen hot chocolate you forget how long you waited on line. My daughter and I go annually for a special treat. Pros: frozen hot chocolate Cons: long wait more

Love the Frozen Hot Chocolate! 10/7/2009

The ambiance goes great with the desert more

Why the Wait? 10/2/2009

Used to live down the block from here; due to the perpetual out-the-door wait, I would pop by an hour before, go eat elsewhere, and then head back for the reason to go--the dessert. The frozen hot chocolate is a much-imitated but unequaled classic. Not the cleanest joint, but chock full of retro, cute ambiance. Skip dinner and eat up dessert. Want to try the Vegas one next time I'm there. Pros: Delicious desserts Cons: Always a wait, lackluster entrees. more

if i say its bad mabye i won't have to wait as long! 9/30/2009

Serendipity 3 is My Favorite! Pros: hot fudge! Cons: long wait more

Reservations gone bad 9/8/2009

My husband and I had reservations (which I'd called in the prior week to us flying to NYC) for our 10-year wedding anniversary dinner at 8:30pm last Saturday night at Serendipitiy. When we walked to the front desk to check in they could not find our name on their list. Then the manager spoke to us and did not believe that I had called and made a reservation over the phone. He said that I couldn't have done so when I said I did because they'd been booked up for this night before I even called them. Basically he accused me of lying to get into the restaurant. My husband was so mad and I was so disappointed that we were being treated this way. We walked away and luckily found a wonderful restaurant that could seat us right away just a few blocks away. I will never even try to dine at Serendipitiy with the way we were treated. Apparently, with the line of people waiting they feel that individual customers do not matter. I'd rather spend my money elsewhere. Pros: Good reputation Cons: Not trust in potential customer more

decent 8/24/2009

a little overrated, the food's not going to win any (legit) 4**** awards any time soon, but the desserts are amazing and the atmosphere makes it worth visiting. more

Dry and tasteless 8/13/2009

The food was dry and tasteless. We ordered the mixed grill, sheperd pie and the shrimp fettuccine. It was a waste of money. It was understaffed and service was horrible. We wanted to order the dessert but opt for the check. It took the waitress 15 minutes to come over. When we ask for the check and no suprised she bought it to us right away. more

A little overrated, but still an NYC must-eat! 8/5/2009

I have been to Serendipity 3 on three separate visits to New York over the last 4 years. Each time has been a great experience, mostly because I made reservations well in advance. Serendipity is very good about getting those with reservations in quickly. In fact, when I called once with a party of 11, I had to split it into two groups and stagger the reservations by 30 minutes so that we could all be accomodated. While that was a little inconvenient, it shows that they are being careful not to overbook their reservations. Pros: Frrrozen hot chocolate, desserts Cons: cramped space more

Like a four leaf clover 7/27/2009

Serendipity is like a four leaf clover good luck charm.... It's one of those goldielucks just right momment.... more

Always A Favorite 7/17/2009

This place is always a favorite of mine. You can't go wrong with the cold hot chocolate and a single order of the cakes can be shared by 2 to 3 people. The wait is a little long, but definitely worth it. Pros: Gigantic Portions, Delicious Deserts Cons: Wait In Line, but well worth it. more

Oprah was RIGHT! 7/5/2009

I LOVE this place... Oprah was so right, it is YUMMY! Pros: YUMMY Cons: waiting for a table! more
