Best

Our child loved this place. Lots of other families here and good selection of Yummy sweet stuff. Much for kids to look at and keep busy...

Worst

I always wanted to go to this place after seeing the movie. It was a disappoinment. The service was slow, the food so-so. The frozen hot chocolate was good but pricey. The chocola...

Enchanting after dinner dessert experience 2/11/2011

I've been coming here since I was a child. The place is enchanting I can't praise it highly enough - and every christmas I send frozen hot chocolate to all of my friends that are missing New York. more

A Great End To An Evening 2/10/2011

I've enjoyed going to Serendipity 3 for dessert for many years now. Their signature drink, the frozen hot chocolate is delicious, dark and unique but their Forbidden Broadway Sundae actually does it one better. Oodles of hot fudge, dark cake and ice cream layer together to intense and satisfying combination. The portion sizes are massive and are appropriate for sharing. The staff border on the friendly side of a line that separates it from arrogance. Ignore the staff and go for the dessert ... it's a great end to an evening if you can stomach the the 2 hour wait. more

Sundaes on Sunday 2/8/2011

Visiting Serendipity 3 was such an enjoyable experience for myself and my two kids, that we go regularly and each time it is worth the long wait . We just head down the street for a Dylan's Candy bar while we waitThe cake is fresh baked and warm and the ice cream is delicious Layer after layer of of deliciousness more

Would Happily Return 2/7/2011

This was my second visit to Serendipity 3. I had seen it in two films and was not disappointed at all. Perhaps because we visited around 2pm on a weekday afternoon if October (1st time) and January (this time) we did not experience any queues, nor did we book. I, being a lover of butter pecan ice cream had the Insanity Sundae, both visits - see photo. My companions, however have tried, burgers, sandwiches, french toast and foot long hot dogs. this visit we also tried frozen hot chocolate and hot hot chocolate. Perhaps because there was a couple of feet of snow outside the frozen hot chocolate was not appreciated as much as the hot one. If you want to try the frozen one it comes with 4 straws so is good for sharing. We love the Tiffany lampshades and eclectic decor. The menu is worth reading just for the read. I would happily return again & again. more

one of the best things 2/4/2011

Frozen hot chocolate!!! It is seriously one of the best things I have ever had in my life. The whole experience at Serendipity was great. From the super cute interior to the service, everything was fantastic. A little hard to find, we actually passed it once or twice before spotting it. The whole place is decked out with all these little knick knacks that are reminiscent of something you would find in your Granny's house. This place really reminds me of a cute Alice in wonderlandish tea room. I cannot wait to come back and try everything else on the menu! more

I love the super cute interior, super delicious desserts and the fairytale atmosphere!!! I know a lot of people complain about wait time, but there are some ways to reduce it:) Me and my husband have been there couple of times, and I never had to wait! more

Kids.... 12/2/2010

I understand it cater to kids but why don't the parents do something about the unruly, loud screaming outside? I didn't bother going into the place just because that. The screaming and yelling, running on small sidewalk was unbearable. more

Excited for nothing 11/23/2010

I'm sure you have all seen this restaurant in movies, and have heard about it all over, so it's only normal for it to be a reatsaurant that I would want to check out. The prices were way too high, the service was unacceptable, and the food was completely a dissapointment. more

Terrible attitude, full of themselves 11/21/2010

I was very excited to take my 5 year old nephew to Serendipity for sundaes when he came to visit for a long weekend. I made a reservation for lunch at 1:30, and when we arrived was told they had put us down for 1:00 and then given my table away when we weren't there. The host was unsympathetic, made no apology for their error, but said they could have us seated in 20 minutes. After 20 minutes I asked for an update and he again gave me the standard ""we're doing everything we can to seat you as soon as possible"" and had a very unfriendly attitude. I asked him to please give me an actual estimate on time and he said ""half an hour."" So we left. It was more

love the movie and the hot chocolate 11/18/2010

My boyfriend and I watched the movie and then went to the restaurant. Its very cute. I was surprised at how little it is. The line was outrageous. It was about a 3 hour wait by the time we left at 2pm more

very surprised 9/2/2010

I am surprised to read the bad reviews on this place, even after all the hype it gets. I?ve been to this restaurant several times, never for food, but for the delicious desserts. The Strawberry Fields is my favorite ? good portion, good price. I would recommend it. more

Dirty! Dirty! Brings new meaning to the words ""clean me"" 8/29/2010

I'm not sure on where to start. Sad to say that this establishment was featured on the food network, which my wife an I assumed was a sure WIN. After waiting 2 hours....which is fine, after all we are in NYC, the disappointments were everywhere. Food, if you want to call it that, was amateur at best but we were forgiving since this place is known more for its ice cream and desserts, so BRING THEM ON....right? WRONG. Ice cream was ok, nothing over the top or special. Frozen hot chocolate.....what a joke. Whipped cream......better off brining in your own tub of cool whip. If this is the best NYC has to offer for ice cream lovers, than we need to look no further than our closest supermarket and pick up a $5.00 carton of Breyers. Overall poor quality, lacks inspiration and flair from staff. Lastly, any restaurant that is known for $1,000 ice cream dish can certainly afford to keep up and clean the place. more

pretty cool if you are into wierd stuff :) 8/23/2010

Don't believe in lines! If they tell you to wait for an hour or so, just give them your name and .. stay right there!!! Usually smb's leaving unexpectedly early and here you are - smiling and happy! more

A New York Staple! 8/14/2010

To start off with, I can't believe the negative reviews I've read! My experience with Serendipity 3 was quite the opposite. When visiting New York with my sister we decided just to spend a day walking the streets and catching some hole-in-the-wall boutiques instead of doing the typical tourist sights. I noticed a place called ""Serendipity"" and thought it was such a cute name for a place to eat and the Christmas decor ranked right up there in cuteness factor. We returned to the hotel, I did some research and looked at their menu and read their story. I was very much intrigued. The next day I was on a mission to go back and and really experience the place. We got there and there was a short line inside by the gifts. We ended up waiting maybe 45 minutes or an hour (just the same at an Outback on a Saturday night..no big deal) but I love that during the Winter when the line extends through the door, if people choose to stand in the doorway and don't want to close the door the entire front of the restaurant yells ""Close the door!"" due to the draft. :) We get seated and have one of the better tables in my opinion as we were sat next to some of their Christmas decorations that wrapped around an archway. The menu has LOADS of options and everything tends to be very affordable. I ordered a simple burger with a famous frozen hot chocolate for dessert. I loved both and was thrilled to go home and say I experienced it. On our way out I was greeted by the owner, yes Stephen Bruce. He was SO sweet and acted very grateful for us choosing his spot for lunch and wanted to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. Then I selected one of their awesome Christmas ornaments and asked if I could trouble him to autograph it for me. He was thrilled and asked what kind of personalization I'd like. It's August now and I'm already in the midst of planning another New York getaway just before Christmas for this year and you can bet that I'll be heading back here at least once, if not more! more
