I always wanted to go to this place after seeing the movie. It was a disappoinment. The service was slow, the food so-so. The frozen hot chocolate was good but pricey. The chocola...

LOVED Serendipity 4/21/2011

After trying to get into Serendipity 3 the few NYC trips previous, I finally made it in. And it did not disappoint. LOVE LOVE LOVE the frozen hot chocolate. I've had the one in Vegas, but there's something so special about going to the original home of the frozen hot chocolate. The ambience is so cute. more

Absolutely Delicious 4/12/2011

I love Serendipity... it's something of a New York tradition for me to come here every time I'm in the city. The most recent time, I came with my bf, his mom and sister. We ordered a whole bunch of sweets (frozen hot chocolate, banana split [coward's portion], and some kind of pie + ice cream + strawberry + whipped cream concoction). Hands down, my favorite is still the frozen hot chocolate -- I get it every single time and it never gets old. I would come back to try food items as well, but my stomach never seems to have room... more

Fun late night stop 4/8/2011

Be prepared for a little wait at Serendipity. Be sure to share the desserts as they are huge. Excellent banana split and forbidden Broadway brownie sundae. Wait staff was nice and treated my teenagers with courtesy and respect. Fun late night stop post theatre. more

So Good 4/7/2011

I went two times (july 2008 and may 2009). Everytime, I had to wait in line. They always told me we'd have to wait for an hour but 15 minutes later we were called... I always order the blue nachos and the Frrrozen Hot Chocolate. It is a little bit expensive but it is HUGE (you can totally share... even though you might not want to because it tastes so good!) more

Enjoyed the experience 4/5/2011

While visiting New York City my family made a stop for dinner at Serendipity 3. What an experience! My husband and I have two daughters, ages 12 and 15 and we are fans of the movie, Serendipity. We had planned to stop at the famous restaurant but were not sure if we would fit in a meal or just have time for dessert. We are so glad we were able ot dine there as the food proved to be delicious. The menu items were varied and intereesting and all four of us were happy with our choices. For dessert, of course, we all chose the Frozen Hot Chocolate as it has been tempting us since seeing it in the movie and in a Food Channel piece some years ago. One of my daughters tried the mint version and was very pleased. My other daughter went with the tradiitional Frozen Hot Chocolate as did my husband and I. One is definitely large enough to split for two people but the kids wanted their own of course. This dessert totally lived up to the hype we had heard about it! The restaurant itself is a marvel in decor and atmosphere, there is something interesting everywhere you look. The first floor houses a cramped but cute gift shop with Serendipity 3 tee shirts, snow globes and even Frozen Hot Chocolate mixes to make at home. My family enjoyed the entire experience of dining at Serendipity 3 and we look forward to going back the next time we visit the city. more

Chocolate! And the sandwiches are good, too! 3/29/2011

Three years go we couldn't get in Serendipity--the line was too long. This time my daughter and I arrived right when they opened on a Thursday. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly at an upstairs table by the window. Between the charming environs of the restaurant and the view of the street, we had a very pleasant lunch. We both ordered sandwiches (A Summer Bries and The Haight-Ashbury) and the portions were very generous--more than we could finish. But of course, we had to save room for the Frozen Hot Chocolate! We split one and it was plenty for each of us. The young men who waited on us were very attentive and charming. It was a lovely mom and daughter lunch and we look forward to going back on our next NYC trip. more

Worth checking out 3/28/2011

Definitely worth checking out. A good friend of mine told me about the frozen hot chocolates! Think the New York version of Fenton's. You'll have to wait a long time before getting a table (about an hour or so), but they definitely have good ice cream. We ordered frozen hot chocolates and a berry lemon blitz ice cream. For frozen hot chocolates, they kind of tasted like a freddo...get the mint one because it has a more subtle taste than the regular frozen hot chocolate. My favorite dish was the berry blitz ice cream. Basically, a ton of strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, all topped on vanilla ice cream with lemon extract in a pie crusted shell. Definitely worth sharing with friends. Service was great! Ice-cream didn't take long to arrive. This place is located on the side, so you'll have to search to find it. Come here during the winter! The decor is fantastic! Pretty lights and winter decorations were everywhere! more

Best dessert ever!! 3/25/2011

Serendipity 3 is my favorite destination for desserts that are to die for! The frozen hot chocolate is my favorite and when I bring my friends over, they feels the same way. The customer service is great and the location feels inviting, nice and cozy. Overall, a great little place for the best dessert in the city! more

most amazing creation 3/23/2011

The Frozen Hot Chocolate is the most amazing creation I have ever experienced. I told my now girlfriend of 2 years for Valentines day and we had the most amazing time and of course the most delicious meal followed by our frozen treat. Thanks for all the memories. See you soon. more

portions are great 3/11/2011

I'm surprised everyone always complains about lines. Maybe it's my luck, but I never have trouble getting a table without a reservation. To be honest, I love their wait staff. They're incredibly accommodating and nice without being too pushy. The portions are great. Serendipity has been a favorite of mine, ever since my dad started bringing me here when I was a little kid. The Frozen Hot Chocolate is huge. Honestly, if you order it, don't be stubborn like me and insist that you can finish it on your own, because you probably can't. It's a drink that's meant to be shared. The chicken pot pie is one of my favorite things from here, along with the Madame Butterfly. Ugh. So. Good. I'm basically salivating right now. more

FROZEN HOT CHOCOLATE!! 3/8/2011

FROZEN HOT CHOCOLATE!! You know there are those places that you hear people talk about all the time, and they just get you hyped up about. Then you show up expecting something great...Well, Serendipity's Frozen Hot Chocolate is IT!! OMG!! It was sooo good!!! I LOVE IT! I came with my friend, and we ordered one to share because we saw how big it was. My friend doesn't really like chocolate/sweets, so she was just going to take a sip- therefore, MORE FOR ME! I was glad she doesn't like sweets because I got to drink the entire glass. YUM!!! The whip cream was kinda gross, so the next time I go I'll just ask for no whipped cream. We didn't order the actual food because we had already ate, and the food was pricey. The glass of frozen hot chocolate came out to almost $10. more

more then just a fourtunate accident 3/2/2011

I was in Serendipity at the end of January and have to admit it more then exceeded my expectations. Like many others, after seeing the film I really wanted to experience everything that was ""serendipity."" We were extremely lucky in that we didn't have to wait to be seated and got in to eat immedialtely. I agree with others in what they said about the hostess. They could be alot more friendly. Our waiter was very friendly and fast. The best part of all was the Chocolate Hot Fudge Sunday. In one word, ""Heaven"". Would recommend Serendipity to all my friends, it has a really nice relaxed vibe, with a ""kooky"" air to it. For all fans of the movie, its a must see and you wont be disappointed. more

A Pleased Customer 2/24/2011

I am in love with everything about this ""small whole in the wall"" called Serendipity. The precious restaurant has a type of joy and warm-hearted feeling to it for me. I love the word serendipity and by definition I believe it to be the sweetest word in the English language. I believe in serendipity wholeheartedly and I am ecstatic each and every time I am in the presence of the restaurant. You have a wonderful thing going for you, and I am a pleased customer. more

Frozen Hot Chocolate - Sandro Calloni 2/22/2011

Stephen, my New Yorker friend promised to pamper my chocoholic tastebuds ..... and thats how we landed up on the sidewalk outside Serendipity 3. After a wait of about 45 minutes, I was tucking into some amazing dessert - a dessert lovers' dream come true! Also sampled the strawberry cheesecake. Teamed them up with some fresh delicate sandwiches. more

Fun and Pleasant 2/22/2011

Serendipity! Contrary to it's definition this was a well planned visit and expectation of scrumptious food and frozen hot chocolate. =) The first time I ever tried Serendipity was in Vegas when they opened up their branch by Caesars Palace. Oh my, oh my, it was heaven. I'm a Chocoholic soooo anything chocolate I may en up just devouring but I am also a very picky Chocolatier. Their frozen hot chocolate was amazing. The name itself pretty much sums it up...its hot chocolate, but frozen! Haha When I finally came to NYC the original Serendipity was a must on my list of things to do. It's a touristy attraction, so there probably will be some sort of a wait. When my girlfriends and I went we lucked out because the wait was only about 15 mins. I've heard that it can definitely be much longer. The restaurant is so cute. Tons of decorations all over, Serendipity memorabilia, chocolate anything, Cupcakes and any kinda of cute lil trinkettes decorate this place. The ambiance is just an overall fun and pleasant one. So it's a two story building. When you first enter the restaurant, it's narrow and can get a lil crowded in their waiting area/ hallway. You have the option of dining upstairs or down. I've had the opportunity for both. Downstairs its awesome, a bit small but sorta a caf?-ish area with random things hanging on the walls amidst a pretty stained glass chandelier. Upstairs it a little more open, higher ceilings and has a old school Victorian effect with all the moldings. This place has such a great variety for foods ranging from appetizers, all sorts of entres and not to mention their desserts. They have this cool dessert that's like a million dollar version of their frozen hot chocolate that they serve with edible gold flakes or something. Unfortunately, my friends and I got the ""commoner"" version minus the edible gold flakes. But hey, I guess if I was that rich I wouldn't mind wearing and eating my gold! Overall, every time I've gone I've had a great experience and have never been disappointed. Cheers! more
