In need of Basic Courtesy Training 2/25/2009

Visited Seattle Lighting with the intention of placing a sizable remodeling order as efficiently as possible. The counter clerk suggested I wait 30 minutes for their design specialist who had no other appointments that day, after the customer she was serving. But when the specialist finished she simply breezed passed me and asked a customer who just walked in if she could help. When I finally got to chance to ask about my appointment, the specialist told me I would need to wait a week. This was odd because the counter clerk had mentioned that the specialist's schedule was pretty open all week. It will be interesting to see how Seattle Lighting fares in an increasingly competitive market. I'm a very busy person, so efficient service means quite a lot. They had my sale when I walked in the door, but they managed to provoke their way out of it. Seattle Lighting would stand to benefit by a little courtesy training. more

Good selection. Poor service. 7/10/2008

We used this company for our new house ($>1m). Some folks act as if they think they are doing you a favor selling to you. One staff member at the Pioneer Square branch is downright rude! The selection is good, but not great for contemporary styles. They told us some of the lights were in stock when they weren't, meaning that we're missing a few in our new house. On a visit to the Bellevue store to get another light (why can't we learn and just stay away?), we could not get served because they are clearly understaffed. They expect you to write your name in a book and wait around to be paged! Just who do the folks at this company think they are? more

Seattle Lighting 6/28/2006

Seattle Lighting south of downtown has a great selection. Tends to carry mid to high-end lines. It can be a bit crowded/hard to find help on weekends. http://www.seattlelighting.com/index.html more

good selection 8/17/2005

Seattle lighting is a great place to go to find any of your lighting needs. They have a wide selection of sconces, outdoor lighting, lamps, chandeliers, etc. They have a lot of different styles. Also you can special order items if you do not see them in the retail store. They occasionally have sales if you want to wait. more

Designer prices, poor service 8/16/2005

I admit it: I don't look like I'm trying to light a $500,000 home, or a corporate office building. Maybe that's why, when on any of the several times I've walked into this store, it's been very hard to get the attention of any of the staff, and when I do, they have been uniformly snooty. And the prices they quoted me? Uh.... yeah. No thank you. It's not *all* bad. Some of their fixtures really are pretty nice. Of course, you can get them for about half the price 30 blocks north at Lighting Supply, Inc. more
