Every experience with Samson management has been a horror story. They are THE WORST. I would not recommend them to anyone. First, their apartments are not great whatsoever for the amount that you'll be paying. Not worth it. Second, their apartments are infested with roaches. I just recently transferred from one Samson apartment to another (for the sake of convenience and ease of transfer, or at least to hope of an easy transfer...) and it was certainly a downgrade. I had two apartments pending and I had to take the best of the worst, so to speak. Their finances are not well managed (delays in receiving direct deposit, being charged more for my rent that I'm supposed to), apartments not in the best condition (broken appliances, unfixed doors, poor paint jobs), and the biggest of them all, ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. They are snakes, liars, completely dishonest, and have no knowledge of how things work. If you call them, no one is ever there to answer, and after leaving a message, you won't receive a call back until days later. My phone number was given to a secretary without my authorization (somehow she called a repair company without my knowledge), I was lied to about a pending apartment transfer, and had me waiting 4 months for the transfer, only to find out that it had been rented to a new tenant already. I am quite surprised the company has not been shut down, or at the very least thoroughly investigated. There are a lot of unethical, and unprofessional people working there, I fail to understand how they live with themselves. It is absolutely disgusting. more

Don't be deceived by the bad management, shitty apartments, too expensive of a rent and bad smells all day long. Of course, don't forget about the outage of elevators, the bias of treating new renters better than senior or older ones, and certainly expect your rent to rise over 20% every year without notice. Samson buildings are the worst, most deceptive I've ever lived in. Watch for the mold that's been building up and watch for the bathroom ceiling not falling down like it did in y bathroom. If I was there that day I would have been seriously injured and concussed. more

Let's get clear about these slumlords, Andre Williams & Zelda Schlagel embody the word ""slimy"". They do nothing to help tenants who are living near disturbed neighbors who create chaos and problems. I had a neighbor who the police were investigating for rape, and my complaints to management went unanswered for over a full month. I had never complained about this neighbor for 8 months until his behavior become unbearable in January, I enlisted the police, and this was revealed about him. January and part of February were pure h**l until this neighbor moved out. The police followed up with me twice, while management, and the super never did. The super, Tino Morales, said he wouldn't knock on this neighbor's door because, and, I quote - the neighbor was aggressive and Tino was afraid he would be attacked. Yet, Tino told me to confront the neighbor. What?! The new person who moved in treats the building like a dorm, she's loud in the middle of the night on work nights and they won't do anything about that either, other than, Andre Williams told me to call 311 and send the reports to him. I've lived here for a year with 2 major repairs never being done, even after multiple polite requests. One including that there has never been warm or hot water in the bathroom, I can't brush my teeth or wash my face in the bathroom, I have to use the kitchen all the time. This company is a mess and I would never renew or live in one of their buildings. more

When my friend was looking for a new place, I recommended my building. She did some research and we were both pretty surprised at some of the really bad reviews Samson received. I live in one of their upper east side buildings. Its pretty old-- but I kinda like that look (it has a bit of history to it). Anyway, I've never had a problem with either Samson or my super. Obviously I can't speak for the tenants at the other buildings, but I've always had help when I needed it. Though I can't speak for my neighbors, I havent heard complaints from them either. Just thought I'd give my 2 cents. Happy apartment hunting everyone! more

Stay away from this company. They are nice enough to get you through the door but thats where the niceness ends. I lived at 2 North Broadway in white plains for a few years.the builiding's super is a senior citizen half cripple eastern european smoker lady named r***. r*** is scum, laziness and ineffectiveness personified. the building manager j*****(he represents samson) would have to be her son because he walks right in her footsteps but he's a bit taller with the personality of a rabid hyena. This company is without a shred of doubt one of the most unprofessional companies in the country and they should be avoided at all cost. I learned the hard way and you dont have to. RUN! When i finaly moved out because the mice asked me to in not so many words, this company had the nerve to dock me on about 40% of my security deposit because the retarded super claimed i returned the keys late even though i moved out before the end of the month and had stopped by twice to return the keys and she was not home. The list goes on and on about all the things that can go wrong dealing with samson management. if you doubt my review, stop by 2 north broadway in white plains and talk to any of the tenants about the building, what is suspected to be asbestos in the textured paint of some of the apartments , the super, and mice and you would have done yourself a huge favor. more

Must be Samson employees writing these excellent reviews!! They hire untrained workers as supers, the buildings aren't maintained properly and they don't like to do basic things - like provide heat, hot water, snow removal service or a clean building. They installed benches in a costly renovation that gave the deadbeats they let into the building a place to hang out and drink booze and do drugs!! more

Out of curiosity, I logged onto Citysearch to see what they said about Samson Management, my landlord. I noticed several negative reviews. I am no lover of landlords, but in all fairness, 7 complaints out of 6,000 tenants over a 4 year period is probably speaking more of tenant satisfaction than dissatisfaction. more

I was curious about what Citysearch had to say about our Landlord, Samson Management. I was shocked at some of the comments, especially those about Dobbs Ferry property. I've lived there for the past 15 years. When Samson bought the buildings, there must have been hundreds of violations. The buildings were literally falling apart. I don't know how many millions they put in but they restored it so that I don't have to be ashamed to ask my friends and family to visit me. I don't know what those people are talking about. Beacon Hill is now a great place to live and at reasonable rents. more

I've read all the negative reviews about Samson Management. What about positive reviews? I love these guys who hide behind anonymity and take cheap unsubstantiated shots at the landlord. They sound like a bunch of malcontents who probably don't pay their rent on time and are incensed when they get a dispossess notice. This is probably their way of getting even. I live in a Samson building. The apartment is great and so is the neighborhood and, frankly, I don't have any complaints. more

Apartments are well past their prime. Exterior work has been done at tenants' expense but nothing done to fix basic serious problems with electricity, plumbing and apartment repair. Pros: location, fireplaces, swimming pool Cons: sloppy work, long wait for repairs, cracking walls, poor or more

The walls were moldy and the apartment was generally in need of several repairs. Walls had to be washed with bleach twice a year. Samson refused to even look at it. I emailed pictures of the mold and called many times. The only time I could get a call back was when I moved out 2 months early. Pros: large apartment Cons: No building management at all. Sorry they wouldnt let me do two parts so i have to squeeze this into one. DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE. I have lived in a samson-managed apartment compex in tarrytown called sleepy hollow gardens for over 25 years. Why am i still here you ask: rent control. Anyways first as the other reviewers have mentioned if you want any help don't bother calling them because they are rude and obnoxious. Also, just like the other reviewer said, if something is broken, dont think it will be fixed. I also had a leak and hole in my ceiling - 3 TIMES!! It came down to us gettin the building inspector for it to get fixed, and the process has taken YEARS. Another thing is the parking. There are not enough spots, so if you park after 7 PM, you will have to find a spot in a parking lot down the road ( and also risk getting towed). I thought this issue was about to be resolved , as we have gotten several letters saying they were about to build 60 new spots. I get a letter from Samson saying that they are ""considering adding sixty additional outdoor parking spaces to Sleepy Hollow Gardens. The new spaces would be made available on a RENTAL BASIS and reserved for your exclusive use."" How much you ask? well $65 a month plus tax. The letter is asking us to check yes or no whether we would consider renting a spot!! And dont think that people who rent those spots wont take a free spot that is closer to their apt if its free. So this solves nothing except gives more money to this terrible, greedy corporation. I can honestly go on for pages and pages on the problems with these people and this company, so if you are truly interested and want to know more you can email me. I have lived in a Samsom bldg for 5 years and though the apartments in my complex are big, they are poorly taken care of and the management company itself is awful. They have zero concern for their tenants, do not provide customer service (every person I have ever talked to is grumpy, evil and witchy) and could care less about you. If you have a problem in your unit, don't expect any help from them - no matter how long you have lived there or that you have a track record of always paying on time. My ceiling has been flaking, I have had multiple water leaks from above, my mailbox has never locked, it takes days to get things fixed. If you can avoid living in a unit managed by them, but all means do. Otherwise, I hope you are self sufficient. more

I have to fully agree with the above reviewer. Samson seems to take the term ""slumlord"" out of the slum. If you can find a phone number, just try calling and see for yourself. The people on the other end are angry, rude and make it crystal clear that you are a very replaceable tenant. Through luck, I contacted Zelda (who I believe is a manager) and she was helpful in resolving my issue. Unfortunately, you have a better chance of getting an audience with the Pope then reaching her. The nasty employees will actively avoid transferring you to her using office guerrilla tactics, such as transferring to a dead extension, refusing to transfer your call or just hanging up on you. It's a shame because I like the apartment. Pros: They love cashing tenants checks Cons: They hate tenants more

Samson is a large management company, and acts like it. Their customer service is non-existent. Our experience (my wife and me) is if we ever had to call the offices, they were rude, loud and not helpful. Pros: Good building locations Cons: poor service and management more
