I'm sad to report that RuSan's has seriously gone down hill. I remember when I had friends in town on a regular basis and I would make sure that they each experienced RuSan's whil...

Best Sushi in Town 5/26/2004

The chefs are great, the ambiance is lively and hip, the menu is huge, the prices are excellent and the food is fantastic. It's a great place to have a great meal and a great night out. The lunch buffet is an amazing deal as well. I can't believe they can serve such good japanese food at such reasonable prices. If only the restaurant were a little larger. Pros: great sushi, reasonable prices, fun and lively more

Lively Sushi 1/24/2004

After having pleasantly visited the Ru San's in Atlanta, I was happy to see one open up in The Gulch. If you are accustomed to the Koto, Shintomi, or Samurai scene, you may be a bit taken by Ru San's atmosphere, which I must admit, is my primary draw. It wouldn't be a stretch to imagine Ru San's knocking out the side wall and installing a DJ booth and dance floor. I recommend the more traditional sushi because of the excellent price and good quality. The sushi menu is ridiculously modern but contains all of the traditional items. Upon my first visit, I had the salmon, tuna, yellowtail, unagi, tamago, and uni nigiri, as well as the ""Dr. Zhivago Roll,"" all of which were excellent. Prices allow patrons to try lots of unfamiliar items, making this a great place to take sushi-virgins. Oh yeah, and the bar is frickin' huge. Pros: Good food, superb atmosphere, great prices Cons: Ambiguous parking, not enough waitresses more

Happy Happy!! We have great sushi! 11/6/2003

This is the best sushi for 250 miles! Tell all your friends! Excellent, creative sushi and Japanese entrees in Nashville! If you are visiting Nashville or if you are new to the sushi experience, you must go! Since moving to Nashville almost two years ago I have tried every sushi restaurant in and around town and became complacent to drive the 3.5 hours back to Atlanta once a month to get my fill of great sushi. Now we have a Ru San's here in Nashville! Ru San's is known for their FRESH fish, extensive menu, larger portions, creative rolls, great presentation, and upbeat atmosphere. If you are shy of raw fish, they have an excellent assortment of tempura, yakitori, as well as selections of entrees sure to please the entire crowd. The drinks are funky, the decor is modern and brightly lit with Ru San's trademark artwork on the walls. Pros: Fresh fish, larger portions, LARGE MENU Cons: Music can be loud, Fellow diners loud more

Best Sushi hangout in town 11/3/2003

RuSan's is definately the best sushi I have had in Nashville. Great upbeat atmosphere. The service is good and the food is out of this world. Very inexpensive for sushi. Lunch buffet is the best way to sample differents types of sushi. I have been four times in one week. Great hangout spot. Pros: Inexpensive, Friendly staff, Good choices of food Cons: insufficient parking, not for kids more

I keep coming back for more... 10/29/2003

Well, we're not in California/Hawaii/Japan, so within our limited choices I totally recommend RuSan's. For the best service and freshest sashimi in an upscale/quiet setting, go to Goten or Shintomi. For cheap/good/creative sushi + upbeat atmosphere --> RuSan's, the only Nashvillian sushi house that rocks. (Party-esque: Avoid if with migraine or allergic to dance music à la Ian Van Dahl.) Amazing service at the bar --> GREAT CHEFS. Say hi/gambe with Ru-San himself, admire his watercolors. So I've been every week since opening, and experienced only one off night - extreme difficulty for anyone to convince our waitress to come by our table and her refusal to give change for a twenty (it wasnt fake!). It happens. Small groups should sit at the bar - faster/entertaining. If you haven't been, Go For It! -asianchic who has eaten/loved sushi all her life (well, since she was 3!!) everywhere Pros: Extensive Menu, Lively, Great/Fast Sushi Bar Cons: Slow Table Service more

Cosmo Sushi in Nashville 10/27/2003

This place is definitely not like the other sushi restaurants in Nashville. Upon entering you are hit with the fast paced buzz of urban techno mix and the hip cosmopolitan design of the restaurant. The menu is almost overwhelming. Thankfully the wait staff helps you navigate through it and will make recommendations if you are stuck. It is great to have a place in Nashville that is not typical ""Nashville."" Having good sushi and Saki with Ru San late night is recommended. Pros: Service, People Watching, Extensive Menu Cons: Extensive Menu more

Sushi Fan 10/27/2003

Forget that ""other"" sushi place: you know the one where you could always count on good sushi, but as of late, bad ratings by the restaurant critics, too? After joining two of my friends for a quick lunch at Ru San's, I am now a true Sushi fan. I visited Ru San's three times in one week!! Ru San's has the BEST sushi in Nashville. Pros: Great Food, Great Atmosphere, Great Service more

Nashville's Best Sushi Restaurant 10/19/2003

After moving to Nashville from Atlanta, I was never able to fill the void that leaving RuSan's had left. Finally, they have decided to open up a RuSan's here, and I think Nashville will love it. If nothing else, Nashvillians will like the fact that the sushi is quality and fresh made, but most of the nigiri and maki is $1.50 or less per piece or roll. I like the ambience, generally there is pleasing background music, and the original art on the walls adds to the experience. This particular RuSan's is smaller than most I have seen, but I guees that could be seen as cozy. Happy does not begin to describe how excited I am to be getting a great sushi place. Pros: Inexpensive, Fresh ingredients, Quality seafood Cons: Parking not marked, Kind of small more
