Did not honor coupon, mediocre food 12/16/2009

I had used coupons here in the past with no problem. This time when it was time to pay they told me they would not honor the coupon even though it had not expired. The manager told me that they had never given permission for the website to issue the coupon. Funny that they honored it previously. The bread and the service were horrible. I had to wait 10 minutes for my check because they were invalidating the coupon code with the website even though they wouldn't take it anyway. Coupon or no coupon the food is mediocre and overpriced. Pros: Wasn't busy Cons: Did not honor coupon, poor service more

Avoid this place... 7/2/2008

Wow! what a terrorable place to spend money on olive garden quality food with waffel house quality service. Actually I'd give Waffel House more credit then these guys. The food and service were slow and bad. Who wants to pay thoughs prices for such bad olive garden food. Don't waste your time going here... Pros: didnt die from eatting food Cons: the food, the location, the service, the prices, etc more

Bad Food, Service, Management. 6/25/2008

I went to Resturante Cinellis on a thursday night for dinner with my family. When we arrived we sat ourselfs and didn't see a waiter for like five minutes. He took another five minutes to bring us menus, and then another five minutes to even take our drink order. Needless to say the service was horrible. They hardly had any beverages to choose from, and the beer was brought to me in a can.. like this is some dive bar. Well once the food arrived it was wrong and had to be sent back. We did not enjoy hearing the management and staff screaming profanity in the kitchen either... This place was a complete flop. Then when I got my credit card statements, the waiter had added ten dollars to his tip amount. Pros: none Cons: too many to list! more

Good Chef - Poor Management 6/14/2008

The flavor of the food on the buffet was very good, but it was very cold. Someone is going to get sick if they don't pay more attention. The staff was polite but very unprofessional. This was my second disappointing experience here. I was hoping that it had improved since my last trip. The problem is not the chef but the management. more

Great food, great price! 5/13/2008

I have been to Restorante Cinelli on SixForks several times with friends, and I sincerely wish that they had delivery service. The pasta dishes and entrees are absolutely delicious, with a wonderful sauce that lingers on your tongue long after you've eaten them. The specials selection is HUGE, and like nothing I've seen anywhere else, and the service is warm, friendly and helpful. There are beautiful desserts to choose from, and the waitors will be glad to bring over the day's selection for you to choose from (it can be a hard choice!) The general atmosphere is charming, comfortable and clean. No one is hovering over you to leave, and there is no "attitude". It's a wonderful place not only for singles, or couples, but a real "family" place to come to as well. They make you feel at home, with Italian music playing in the background. The price points are reasonable, and don't forget to ask Glen for new or rare wines. I'd recommend Cinelli's to anyone who appreciates good Italian food right in the heart of Raleigh. Mangia bene! Pros: Great food, right in Raleigh - perfect atmosphere Cons: none! more

Nice, authentic Italian fare - food worthy of a crowd! 4/22/2008

Had Cinelli's for the first time based on the recommendations here, and from a friend who dines there quite often... so I decided to try it on for my self. The menu is pretty extensive, with a very vibrant specials list. Enjoyed a mushroom with balsamic vinagrette and wine reduction, and of course had to try my favorite calamari! The calamari's were crisp, light and fresh with a wonderful tomato sauce served on the side. The mushroom wasn't my favorite, but my wife couldn't say enough good things about it. I'm not a huge fungus fan myself... I decided to be a little adventurous and had something recommended by the waiter, a chicken marsala rolatini - out of this world. Wonderful presentation and enough food to bring home lunch for the next day. The wife had a stuffed rigatoni dish that she too brought home enough for lunch - she raved to all her friends about the pesto sauce from that dish. I tried one, and agree it was quite tasty but I'm watching my carb intake so no pasta for me! We had a nice Italian wine recommended by the owner that was smooth and under 50 bucks.. went very well with the meal. We decided to pass on dessert because we were full, and it was a mid week dining experience and we try to save the calories for the weekend. I'm sure we'll be back- hopefully we can have a nice table in the corner like we did this time. Had candles on the tables, dimly lit with some jazz in the backround - romantic enough for us! Good time.. we'll be back. Pros: Location in North Raleigh, price point, variety of food available Cons: None more

Great Specials Menu - can't wait to go back! 3/30/2008

This was my second time dining at Cinelli's - and it inspired me to write something up. Atmosphere - fun and friendly. It was a little busy, but it wasn't a bother to us because we were out to relax and enjoy the weekend. Wine list - great selections for 30 bucks.. I'm tired of having to spend 50 60 bucks or more on wine to get something decent.. Glenn (the owner?) was more than happy to come over and describe and educate us on the wines he had.. which apparantly change frequently to keep things fresh! Food - wow.. we had some clam appetizer that was just.. simply.. delicious! Nothing fancy.. baked clams.. but in a lemon wine cause.. they melted in your mouth. Nice. A special.. Havana Cigar.. holy cow!! Possibly one of the best dishes I've ever had.. a very large chich stuffed with melted fontina cheese and ham and asparagus.. in some sauce that I'd beg to learn how to make ! AWESOME! Dessert.. nothing to preach about.. but by this time I was stuffed and was just enjoying the live music. They had some guy in the front playing low volume jazz and classic vocal stuff.. Great time.. little slow on the service - but.. again it wasn't a bother to us. We'll definitely be going back. Glenn's from up north.. and this place has a lot of character and charm from "up north" Pros: Great atmosphere, Friendly, SUPER FOOD! Cons: Little loud at the bar more

a jewel. Great Italian fare in a laid-back, neighborhood atmosphere 12/12/2007

First class gourmet Italian fare in a laid-back, neighborhood atmosphere. Good wine list featuring some hard-to-find local and Italian finds. Friendly, comfortable with excellent cuisine. Pros: cuisine, unusual and excellent local & Italian wines, good privacy in dining room Cons: loud, but welcoming bar more

What happened to them? 9/3/2007

I have been to Ristorante Cinelli on several occasions, even celebrating my birthday there. My previous visits had good service, quality food, and an overall goodtime. Anytime before last Friday I would have given this place 4 stars minimum. What happened to change my mind? Well, this last Friday, we were seated by the kitchen, mind you there were 4 or 5 other open tables. Ok, no biggie, the food & service will make up for it. Well, our waiter drops by our table after about 3-4 minutues, "what would you like to drink?". Well, could we see the menus? (Oh yes, dear readers, or hostess did not give us any). Oh sure, I'll be right back. We don't see him for 5 more minutes. In the interim, we flag a bus-boy down, can you get us menus (drink and food)? Sure, I'll be right back, last we saw of him all night. Our waiter finally gets back with the food menus, only to inform us that there are no drink menus, as they are redoing their wine list, but it's on the chalkboard. Why he couldn't tell us that to start with... In any event, we order our food and drinks, get the drinks, and are waiting for the food. Our waiter pops his head out of the kitchen, oh yah, what did you order again? I told him, thinking, this might be going downhill. We wait a bit more for our food, then another man, not our waiter, proceeds to bring out our appetizer, but then he also plops down our entrees right next to it. Huh??!! Ok, I eat out alot, and I never, and I mean never, have had that done before. I mentioned that to our waiter, oh that'd be when he came back 5 minutes after our mystery man delivered our meals. He stammered about "that darn kitchen". Well, it gets better. A few minutes later, our mystery man comes out of the kitchen grumbling about something, and proceeds to knock chairs as he made his way to the front. Yeah, that sums it up. He wasn't the only one grumbling that night. Bad scene, I will not be going back. Oh yeah, the food? Average. Pros: At one time a very good Italian restaraunt Cons: Service, service, service more

Great Food, Great atmosphere, Great time! 7/29/2007

I decided I would finally share my secret and write something up about this joint.. If you're looking for an all around great dining experience that you'll soon make a regular stop - visit Cinelli's Six forks. The food is wonderful - always a unique touch to the dishes coming out of the kitchen. Ask one of the waitors to have Glenn or the wine genious "Butter" recommend something with what you're eating.. they have many bottles of wine not on the list that are out of this world for aruond the $30-$45 mark. The crazy skinny guy running around is Glenn - part owner. Say hi and he'll be sure to give you a story about something crazy from the night that's gone on. The morale and energy in this place make it a great time. You won't regret! PS: Johngodspeed review is bogus - its one of those goomba gianni or gaetano brothers trying to stir things up. Nice spelling by the way in your review! Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Energy Cons: I wish I had enough money to eat there 3 times a week more

Best Italian food, service and ambiance! 7/17/2007

What an amazing experience...and on an unsuspecting Wednesday night! Great gathering place for old friends to catch up or for a romantic evening. The atmosphere was perfect for anyone wanting to escape the rush of the world! The service was some of the best I have had with a warmness and kindness too seldomly experienced. Our waiter made recommendations that were right on and every bite we had from appetizer to desert and even the wine was magnificent! Oh, and did I mention the music??? That was an added bonus to the already perfect evening. Everyone needs to check it out...and bring some friends!! Pros: You can't go wrong!! The most delicious food, the best service and oh my the ambience! Cons: NONE!! more

Delicious! 5/10/2007

This place was wonderful. I took my son there and was seated promptly. The food was excellent and pricing was right on target. Definetely recommended! Pros: Everything was great Cons: None at all more

Best restaurant in the triangle!! 1/31/2007

Wow! I'm so glad I discovered this wonderful restaurant! My husband and I wanted to have dinner out on a Thursday night. We stumbled across Cinellis and I'm so glad we did! The manager/host seated us right away. The wine list was spectacular! So was the food and the service. It is so great to finally find a restaurant in Raleigh that truly is perfect! What more could anyone want? It doesn't get any better than great service, great food, and great wine. Or so we thought until the live music began. What began for us a just eating dinner out turned into quite a romantic date!! Cinelli's will definitely be seeing more of us!!! Pros: incredible wine selection, easy going yet very attentive service more

Perfecto 12/28/2006

This is by far the best restaurant in the Triangle. I have lived here for over 5 years and just discovered Cinelli's. I have become a regular since my boyfriend and I first discovered Cinellis. Unbelievable service AND food. The owner checked on us and the wait staff never left us needing anything from continuously supplying bread and their to-die-for oil with fresh herbs to replenishing our wine. Dan, our waiter, was genuinely enjoying providing outstanding service with his good nature, humor and attention to our needs. We were having such a great time with the great ambience and mouth-watering food. When we thought that the evening couldn't be any more perfect, the live music began and the evening was complete. Needless to stay, we stayed for more wine and dessert. Cons: Absolutely none more

Best Italian food with a superb atmosphere and a "Cheers-friendly bar." 11/29/2006

Best chef and Italian food in the Triangle with unbelievable service. Another great meal last night (Veal parm). Glen V's service and quick wit are unparalleled. Service is always with a smile...Try the baked Alaska for dessert... The staff are the friendliest in the Triangle...I will eat there at least weekly 'til I die... VT. Pros: They're all pros!!! Cons: None! more

Great service and attention to detail. Ambience a real plus! 11/27/2006

Took my mother there Satturday night after returning from Thanksgiving and we were greeted by wonderful jazzy live music.....seated right away in the dining room and the food was excellent. The Chicken Piccatta and Broccoli Rabe were outstanding. And the attention from the manager/owner was beyond our expectations especially when he presented freshly grated nutmeg over our fried cinnamon cheesecake. Will definitely return and have already booked our office's xmas social in their private room with a custom tailored menu. Thanks much for a delightful evening!!!! more

Best personal service in Raleigh 11/26/2006

My wife took me to Cinelli's for the first time for my birthday a few years ago. We have been there many many times since and have thoroughly enjoyed it every time. The food is authentic Italian and superb. (As a relocated yankee via NJ and Pgh. - I can assure you its great.) The specials are creative and always exceptional. Plus if you can't find something you like, just ask and the chef will do something special for you. However, the best part of Cinelli's is the personal service. The first time you go, you will be treated cordially but with a smile. By the third or fourth time you go, you are family. From the hostess to the service staff, everyone stops by to say "Hi, how are ya?" and will make time to chat (if they aren't too busy). The wait staff and bartenders are always attentive and make a point of getting to know you. On weekends, they typically have live entertainment (including a Sinatra-like crooner) that is a nice break from Muzak. We have become so comfortable at Cinelli's that at this point, we don't even look at a wine list. We ask Glen for a recommendation. He always brings a few bottles over and describes each in detail and offers his favorite of the bunch. Never gone wrong yet. In contrast to all the chain restaurants that are homogenizing our food choices, this is a special place. In short, its like the verse from the "Cheers" theme... "Where everyone knows your name..." Pros: Food and personal service Cons: Gets busy at times - make a reservation. more

Rude staff, r o a c h scurrying about the dining area. 11/11/2006

I'd like to preface this with... I've been to this restaurant before with my in-laws and we were all completely impressed with the quality of food and service. I've also frequented the Cary location with co-workers at lunchtime. Having said that, I decided to introduce my wife to this "gem" I had found. We arrived and were seated immediately. The restaurant only had a handful of patrons at the time, probably due to the hour. The evening was rather uneventful ... until mid-way through dinner, a gigantic c o c k r o a c h ran out from under our table and stopped next to the chair leg of the table across from ours. My wife flagged down a staff member who said "the boss doesn't like it when we k i l l b u g s". He ran to the back and got a wine glass and a napkin, picked up the "visitor" and put it into the glass, with bare hands. At this point, my wife was done eating. I continued to eat, thinking "well these things happen" ... At no point did anyone come by and apologize or mention anything else about the incident. Also, the gentleman who was handling the r o a c h was back out on the floor within 15 seconds of disposing of it... and was packing up people's to-go orders and grating cheese. There is NO way he had time to even wipe his hands, let alone wash them. Our check came, and we paid it, then tracked down the owner/manager (a tall, thin man with longish dark hair) about the r o a c h. He was rude and argumentative. My wife said that she expected someone to at least come by the table and apologize. She said she wasn't looking for a "freebie" ... having already paid the bill. The owner of the restaurant picked up the black check/money holder and took the change (about $10) and stuffed it in his pocket while they were talking. Cinelli's has a b u g problem, a bad attitude and they don't wash their hands after handling nasty stuff. The food is good, but we will NOT be back. Pros: The food is good... Cons: I can watch r o a c h e s run around at any greasy spoon, for a whole lot less money. more
