Great Chef Specials, excellent atmosphere, great customer service! 8/21/2006

Chef Eddie will prepare you a fantasic meal. Just tell him what you like and wait to be surprised. The menu items are also a great choice but I rarely order from the menu. I always want the best creation of the night! Cinelli's has a great New York family atmosphere and Bill Stonehouse is usually singing Frank Sinatra in the background on a Friday night (my father would have loved it). Family and friends, wine tasting of the night, suggestions and laughter are all part of the ambience. Mix all of those ingredients up and you have a superb evening. Great for romantic dates, groups, family meals or meeting up with your friends. Anything you order is going to be great my favorites are the hot or cold antipasto, anything with shrimp in it and the fancy Portabello Formaggio (did I spell it right?). I don't know, but I know it is fabulous! Go! The Social Light Pros: Thumbs Up: Great people, Great Chef, Ambience Cons: Parking can be hard to find more

Cinelli's = little Italy, in Raleigh!! 6/16/2006

Authentic Italian food!! It isn't "boiling HOT" (and I happen to like that - I can actually taste my food, eat it, and not burn my mouth.) Unless you request it to be HOT, it is pleasantly fresh-warm. The atmosphere is very nice--a nice cross of "Khaki"'s dressy and suit formal. The prices are a bit high, but to me it is worth it. The food is to-die-for good, and if you get the chance, ask for "hot strawberry milk" it's sooooooooo good. There is, most of the time, live music: a piano and occasionally a singer. Think "standards" and "Rat Pack." Pros: private & intimate atmosphere Cons: parking is on a slope and there isn't much of it t more

Too expensive, warm food. 3/18/2006

Room temperature meals that cost 20% more than other Italian restaurants in the area. The atmosphere is nice, the service was excellent, the food was very tasty, but it was room temperature. Pros: Service Cons: Price, Atmosphere, Parking more

Excellent food, too long a wait at lunchtime 9/7/2005

A colleague and I went for lunch and were seated outside on a very pleasant day. Drink and food orders were taken promptly (as IMHO they should be for lunchtime). The food took a *very* long time to arrive, and it appeared that just one waiter was working the floor, bar, etc. The food, however, when it arrived, was excellent. I had the Pasta Cinelli, which I thoroughly enjoyed - I'd heard the pasta was good there, and the one dish I've now had lived up to expectations. I'd definitely make a return visit, but I'd tell the office it'll be a long lunch. Pros: Food, Price, Menu Cons: Service more

That's Amore! 7/16/2005

I have been a regular at Cinellies almost every Friday night for three years. What keeps me coming back? The food! Best in the Triangle. Chef Eddie is second to none. I have been there on slow nights and I have been there on nights you can barly find a place to sit. It does not matter, you are always treated as family and the food is always great. Glen is guy whirling around the dining area, making sure all the guest are happy and making sure the glasses are always full. You can bring a date for a romantic evening or you can bring the kids. The place has an energ you can not find anywhere else in the Triangle. There is an added bonus which is Bill Stonehouse at the mike almost every Friday night. He is one of the best crooners around, and the dance floor is always crowded with couples having a great time. As I stated I am a regular and the place is filled with us. People who know a good meal when the taste it. Pros: food, wine, music Cons: cigar smoke in the bar area more

wow!!! 6/8/2005

wow is the only word that discribes this restaurant. ive worked in many restaurants in the area as well as the L.A. basin and this is one of the finest "truley" italian places to dine. From Bill Stonehouse singing Sinatra to the wonderful Barolas priced below retail. This place is a treasure that Raleigh should cherish. I love to take a date, because they always remember you and you always feel special. Ask for an Osso Buco or Branzino you won't be dissappointed. Pros: atmosphere, food, service more

Nothing like it!!! 6/8/2005

I grew up in Brooklyn, were Italian restaurants were on every corner. Later I moved to Long Island were Italians brought the same great food. I know live in Raleigh and am ecstatic that a true Italian restaurant has followed me again. Ristorante Cinelli rivals any restaurant in NY, in fact when I visit back to the LI there aren't any restaurants that compare. The owners there all the time, they are so knowledgeable and passionate about Italian food. Ask for Gianni or Randi or Eddie the Chef who has been with the family for 18 years. I can't believe this restaurant isn't the most spoken about restaurant in town. But I hope this review helps. anyone who wants fresh top notch ingredients in a beautiful atmosphere needs to go there. Oh! And the singer on Friday nights, Bill Stonehouse is WONDERFUL, doing Frank, Dino, Perry & Tony. more

Thanks Mom 6/8/2005

I have read many review of restaurants on City Search, much to my dismay when I finally go to establishments that are highly recommended. I don't know what some people consider great Italian food, but my mother has turned me on to the best I have ever had period. Ristorante Cinelli. is romantic, beautifully decorated and outstanding when it comes to the menu and quality. I no longer go to Fresh Market or Whole Foods to pick up gourmet Italian ingredients. I just ask the owners, Gianni and Randi for Reggiano or DeCecco Pasta when I feel like cooking myself. They sell wholesale to any one who asks. Because they truly care about food and wine, which is the best Italian wine menu in North Carolina, and farest priced by far. People you got to go! Pros: Decor, qaulity, Wine menu more

Real europen taste 6/8/2005

Great wine menu, service is great, food is unbealieveble, and the owners are fenomanel more

impressive 6/8/2005

Frst walking into the restaurant the atmosphere is beautifully seducing. the food, service, and wine selection are like none in town. I recommend, if you are into nice classic Italian cuisine, you definetly need to be a part of this experience. They love making food so go and enjoy, I know I will for a long time. Pros: Wine Menu, Fpod, Atmosphere more

Now That's Italian! 6/7/2005

I've eaten in some fine Italian restaurants all over the world, but Cinelli's is by far one of the best. From the moment I entered the beautifully decorated restaurant I felt welcomed. The knowledgeable staff was kind and helpful, making wonderful wine and food suggestions. We ordered several items including the calamari, the portobello fromaggio appetizer, the pasta de la nonna (grandmamma's recipe) and the tiramisu. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. You can tell the Cinelli's and their staff are passionate about what they do. I really felt like I was eating in a Trattoria in Rome. It was refreshing to go to a restaurant that is not a chain or a corporate monster. Bravo to the Cinelli family and their chefs! more

best restaurant I ever ate at! 6/6/2005

I would have thought that everyone at Cinelli's knew me before I even walked through the door. The food was delicious and the service was every thing I could have hoped for. It was the little things, though that set this place apart. The wine list that pleased everyone in my group, the fantastic bread, the ambiance, the cheese and olive oil...I felt like I was back home in New York 20 years ago. Everyone in our group praised my choice and thought I had called ahead to make special arrangements but apparently, that's just the way they do things at Cinelli's. Highly recommended! more

tons of food 5/15/2005

Food & Service = Perfection 5/15/2005

I recently dined at Cinelli's for the first time Overall, my rating for Ristorante Cinelli's is a 10!Everything was amazing! Let me elaborate: THE FOOD - I ordered Fet. Alfredo w/ Shirmp and Chicken & Caesar Salad. For dessert, my date and I ate as if it was our last meals - had a piece of cheesecake AND Chocolate mousse, EVERYTHING were perfect. THE SERVICE - on this day I was treated like a king - everything you would hope-prompt, efficient & courteous... our server even demmed the lights for us, now that is service! This place is a secret garden in N. Raleigh and offers cuisine at a higher quality than most competitors. If you appreciate high quality cuisine, or if you would like to learn what high quality ingredients taste like...visit Cinelli's in N.Raleigh! PLEASE, tell them Citysearch sent you! Randy Goins Triangle.Citysearch.com Pros: homemade ingredients, romantic atmosphere, authentic italian Cons: shopping center, kind of hidden more

Thouroughly Impressed 5/4/2005

What a great experience! My wife and I dined at Cinelli's last Monday night. The food, wine, and service was impecable. We started out with a bottle of 99 Travaglini Gattinara which had a very Nebbiolo touch. Then we started with a portobello formaccio appetizer. The two paired perfectly. For the entree we had a Chilean Sea Bass Marechiarra which was exquisite. The homemade tiramisu was agreat finish. They have a wide variety of fine Italian wines at very reasonable prices. And you can bet, there will be repeat visits as far as we're concerned. Pros: Great Service, Great Wine, Great Food more

Good Eats! 4/1/2005

Wow! What a place! The food is amazing. The service . . . outstanding, catering to your every need. Great ambiance. I highly recommend the fried calamari cooked to perfection . . . tender, crispy and tasty! The tuna, also cooked to perfection blends savory and sweet combinations that will make your mouth smile! Great variety of Italian wines. Be sure to try their tiramisu. It is so light and creamy, a wonderful end to a delightful meal. It rates up there with my moms homemade tiramisu and that saying a lot! Cinellis is a must! Pros: food, service, ambiance more

Great Place 3/6/2005

The food was amazing, expensive yes, but you can taste why, only the best and freshest ingredients! We were there on a satrurday and the service was not as good as the food. Our waitress was pushy and unattentive, and there was a waiter who kept kicking my chair and when I asked him to please be more careful he told me to move my chair in some so that he would have enough room to get by. The food took too long, management was virtually non-existant and the place seemed a bit chaotic. We went there on a tuesday night though, and received excellent service. The food and wine alone is enough to come back, but Cinelli's defintely needs improvement in some area's. Pros: food, wine, quality Cons: management, organization, service more

Great Italian & Live music 2/27/2005

The food and ambience was great. We didn't realize that this Cinelli's was much more formal than we were used to (including the prices), but the food was absolutely delicious. Our server was a bit slow and did not bring the right dish for our appetizer, but it was corrected and we moved on to our entrees. The entire dinner took a lot longer than we expected. We may return, but we'll make sure we have the time and money to enjoy it! Pros: authentic , nice surroundings Cons: a little expensive more

Bad Customer Service 1/18/2005

I visited on a Sat evening. A group was next to us and a person had not received the appropriate food then when it came it was cold. A staff member was very inappropriate and was making all kinds of hand gestures and appeared to be speaking vehemently to the client. Our food was warm at best. The service was slow. I will choose not to return as when I observed the customer service issue and a staff member openly arguing with a client I felt that it could have been handled differently and because of that we ate our barely warm food and left. The singer was good and the ambience was fine. I was disappointed in what had been recommended to us as a very nice dining out experience. Pros: convenient location, accessible to all Cons: , slow, argumentative staff more

Simply the Best! 6/19/2004

As a world traveler to yes even Italy, my husband and I have NEVER experienced ANYTHING better! The food as well as atmostphere was outstanding! The portion size was even more then my husband could finish and the personal attention we received was outstanding! We immediately felt like"a part of the family" there. Owners Gianni and Randi Cinelli pride themselves on customer service. The music was like being in Italy as well as the wine. The wine selection was extensive! The overall experience was A+ overall and truly exceeded all other Traingle resturants by far. We recently experienced their catering and were astonished at the amount of food we received for the price. Again the food was remarkable! A MUST! It will be your new favorite resturant as the food and company that comes along with it by far surpasses anything else in Raleigh! Pros: Excellent Service!, Delicious food!, Great wine selection! more
