My initial phone call I was hung up on a person named Rockie, who had no desire to assist me. I called back to speak to his manager, Daniel Jacobs, who not only spoke down to me, insulted me, assured me he didn't need my business nor had any reason to help me. In his last words to me, he said, good luck not moving, in response to my proclamation I would never use rent max because of the way he and his employee had treated me. more

My fiance and i went to them to get a list to find us a home for our new family, well i paid $60 dollars for a list of homes. Now i went searching and searching they had homes that were run down and unlivable but we continued to look. We found something worth living in and we moved in it the beginning of Oct. 2009. Well in January of 2010 a woman representing Regions bank came and told me that i had to move cause the home i was in was sold in a forclosured auction. I was shocked and told her this was my home and i had been renting from a guy listed on rent max paper. There was nothing she could do so now i have been in a battle of trying to move and find another place to stay cause the home i found through rent max they did not let me know they do not do checks on the landlords of the homes they place in there advertisement. So basically you can find a vacant house take it to rent max and rent it out with out having to give info on if you own it or not. I wouldn't recommend renting from them ever. Or you may end up like my family looking for something else!!!!!!! more

The people who work there are rude and condescending. Daniel, an employee from Little Rock, called me a liar within a 45 second initial call to this company. Like an idiot, I decided to go behind his back and check out the website to avoid him making a commission. I should have never given this company my money. They gave me 1 house to look at with no photo or much information. I paid $59 for a lead on 1 house. I would have rather given my money to a hustler on the street. Stay very far away from this group of liars and con artists. Beware of RENTMAX.... more

A true scam to make quick money. Owners of rent Max are just greedy and NOT ineterested in finding you a GOOD home. Office personnel are crude, very rude and VERY unprofessional. There were NO HOMES in the area I paid for and the ones available in their other areas were run down, roach infested and unliveable. SHAME SHAME RENT MAX!! more

My mom thinks this company is a joke. She wouldn't even let her dog live in those houses. MOst of the houses are falling apart and are in terrible condition. We don't recommend this list or any list to anyone who is in need or search for a good quailty home. more

Not everyone has the time or money to run around behind you people. When I called I made sure I asked if you had to pay before viewing the apartments. However, I assume you thought you could talk us into paying(once we arrived in person) so you dodged the question by answering in an unclear way. But heres a tip for you people at rent max: Next time someone asks you a simple yes or no question, you could do them the favor of answering them in the same way. Maybe then you wouldn't have so many negative reviews AND maybe you wouldn't be accused of being scam artist SO often. :P more

The reps were nice before they got my money. Once they talked me into using their services they became really rude to be even calling me names on the phone. Every house on my list that I was interested in was already taken the day it was first shown on my list. If they werent taken they were very trashy and in bad neighborhoods. Save your money. I found a house no thanks to Rent Max! more

THE PERSON THAT WORKED THERE AND SAID THOSE HOMES DON'T EXIST IS TELLING THE TRUTH. WHEN YOU CALL ON ONE OF THE HOMES LISTED THEY CAN'T TELL YOU WHERE IT IS LOCATED- THEY USE THE EXCUSE IT HAS TO BE IN THE AREAS YOU PICK. i work for rent max in the customer/ landlord division,we are NOT real estate agents. what we do is provide u folks information on all the avalible homes in ur area.You guys dont understand the information that we give u is given to us by the land lord if something is wrong how is that our fault.u dont understand how much work we do there is 5 of us back here workin 4 cities.thanx to people who understand and for u ungrateful people get a life,we try.....love and peace more

They offer houses in high crime areas, or ones that are so run down that you would think it was formerly a crack house. They require no Background, Credit, or any other Checks. So giving them your money you will be supporting Illigal Immigration, Child Molestors, Wanted Fugitives, and Sex Offenders on the run. My thoughts are they are demons from hell sent here to torment people looking for homes. Burn In Hell Rent-Max!!! more

Called on a HOUSE listed in the newspaper ad, was told it was available and talked into paying for information. Long story short: of the 130 properties they gave me, only 59 in price range I gave; of those 59, only 28 in the city I requested; of those 28, NOT ONE met my location/price request. I am glad there is a company like rent max in Arkansas. I'm from here and when I needed to start looking for a place mid week I was able to use them and found a place within a week. The benefit of Rent Max is that a lot of people don't advertise in the paper or they only list for the weekend. You can choose 3 areas for them to print off for you and you can also access the site via the web and research the areas before you drive to them. You can change up the areas as often as you want as long as it's no more than 3 at a time. The only down side is that you MUST keep your receipt or you will have to pay the fee again. I misplaced mine after about 6 or 8 months and did have to pay the fee. It was frustrating but it says it right on the receipt so the only person I could be mad at was me. more

I read all the bad reviews and decided to call anyways...shame on me. They talk like a carny would. Just $59 and if you pop the blue balloon you could get a house in the good side of Cabot and if you pop the pink balloon I can get you a run down place in Jacksonville. Gee thanks. I'm a working college student 59 bucks is a weeks worth of eating!! When I was even starting to sound hesitant he started spewing about how the operation worked and what a great deal I was getting and so on and so on. It was just plain annoying and I felt like I had just called a telemarketer. I guess just like chance games some people win big but I don't like to gamble so I'm going to stick to cutting out the middle man when it comes to my renting searches and I'm really sorry to the people who actually gave rent max money. more

When we used Rent-Max, we got the listings, and went down the list. We were looking for a place in Little Rock, AR. After going through the first 4 pages, we had come to this conclusion: 75% of the houses on the list had been rented 3 months before, or earlier, and they had called Rent-Max to have them remove their properties. They left them on there to stack their books. Of the remaining 25%, 60% of them did not meet the criteria that we requested, and the other 40% of the possible listings were so run down that they were on the verge of being deemed inhabitable by the state of Arkansas. Learn this trick: When you see Rent-Max in the news paper, automatically ignore it, so you don't even see what the listing says. That way, you won't have any false hope. more

I worked for Rent-max for a long time and can tell you that some of those houses are made up that are in the paper to get you in the door. I know because I wrote a lot of them. But some of the ones that are not made up are extremely overpriced and not worth your time anyway. But if you go in there and be honest and tell them what you can afford then they can get you what you need. Do not go in there saying I want to live in the Pines Rd area and all I can afford to pay is $200. Well then they think your stupid and you deserve to have your money taken. And they have no choice but to give you your money back if you call everyday like they ask. You can call give your acct # and as soon as they say do you have a pen? Just hang up because it is then logged in that computer that you called and they accessed your homes for that day. There is always 2 ways to skin a cat......... more

was tring to find a place, but couldnt everything in the paper said rent-max. so we decided to go through them. boy was that a mistake. the homes all trashy and run down. DO NOT USE RENT -MAX. IT IS A SCAM. more

I moved to Shreveport with my wife and two boys. When we were looking through the paper all we saw was Rent-max, so we called to find out what it was all about. I was skeptical until I went to the website and found out a lot more. We decided to go down and talk to them. We walked in to a reception area and were greeted by a very professional looking young man who seemed to know what he was talking about. So we signed up with the service, and we were given a list of 63 homes to look at. 63! There weren't that many ads in the paper, and the ones that weren't through Rent-max were too over priced or were in places I wouldn't even think about driving through, during the day, with a police escort. It took four days to find our house and we absolutely love it. Thank you Rentmax!!!! I would recommend Rentmax to anyone and everyone who is either new in town (because they kept us out of the "bad areas") or to any one,period. I give them 5 Stars. more
