Managers make restaurant 10/10/2009

I have been to PT's twice and the reason it stands out is because of the care and service given by Sylvia and Eduardo. Their care and attention makes a reasonable restaurant into a must return. Good pasta is good pasta, but you need more than that to make a good restaurant. Pros: Welcoming service more

Perfect Italian 9/26/2008

This place was very good and better than what I had expected based on some of the reviews. The server did not appear too happy when we showed up at 9:30 for dinner on a Thursday so I got the impression they were closing soon, but when we left around 10:30 they were still seating people. It is nice to have a place close to home that will serve food at that hour on a weeknight. The Orecchiette Ceci and Sei Assaggini were delicious. I will definitely be going back to try more pastas! Pros: staff, food more

Beware the Prix Fixe, ask questions, and remember CASH ONLY! 3/31/2008

Ate here when it first opened. Wonderful. Warm, rustic atmosphere, attentive service, flavorful food. Great addition to the neighborhood. This visit, not so much, which was a bummer. There was a prix fixe for ""Eat out in Brooklyn"" during March. Not sure what that was but I think I know what soup is. However, when I ordered the kale and cannelli soup off the prix fixe it was a stew. Actually it was less liquid than a stew, more like oatmeal. Nice flavor, but not a soup. I wished the (very nice)waiter had told me it might not be what I would expect, authentic Italian or not. It was filling, which was good because when I got my tiny portion of vegetable tagliatelle, I wasn't too hungry. The pasta was handmade and perfectly cooked but the small portion was RIDICULOUS for the price, even prix fixe. It was weird because my friend got the venison(also prix fixe) and this portion was larger than the pasta. Then we had to practically beg for our dessert and finally our check. Maybe it was an off night, but unfortunately I won't return. And since it is cash only they really should get an ATM, well hidden of course, like Aurora, so it's not an eyesore. Pros: Beautiful romantic atmosphere, Italian waitstaff Cons: Wine list is pricey more

Terrific 1/13/2008

I'm much older than the majority of the young adults that eat here; but, I never felt uncomfortably or in any way out of place. I've been here 6 times (by myself, with my wife and with friends) since it opened and have not been disappointed with the food or the wine suggestions. The staff is great, the wine is great and the food is much better than the usual stuff offered at this type of neighbohood restaurant. This place is more than it seems to be and the owners definitely have it going for them. This old guy and his wife would eat there more often if it had a low table and chairs with backs. I tend to fall off the stools after a couple of bottles of wine; but, to date, I haven't let this stop me from enjoying a great little restaurant. (the stools not the falling). Pros: Owner and staff are great. Cons: If you use to LI's parking advantages you'll find it tough - if your a New Yorker, it's no problem. more

Great Food & Great Service 7/21/2007

On Friday evening a large group of friends and I decided to head over to PT in Williamsburg for some dinner. I had been there a few times during the week for a quick bite after work and adored the food and atmosphere. By the time we got there the place was super packed. Once we were seated in the adorable garden and had placed our orders. we did have some delay in getting our food. But the manager, Angelo, kindly came over and explained that the kitchen was short staffed that evening and apologized, offering us a bottle of wine as we waited!! The food was certainly worth the wait and we ended up enjoying the slowed down pace of our Friday dinner. This place is just superb - great, honest service and unbeatable food. What a needed addition to this neighborhood! Pros: The Food - The Service - The Garden! Cons: None. Really! more

Cozy hideout 4/2/2007

Lovely little place for dinner, wine and conversation. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable about the wine list. We took our time with the meal and never felt rushed - a VERY important quality :) Interesting that all seating is on tall stools, but it was completely comfortable and, if anything, added to the casual friendly atmosphere. The food was delicious and the portions were just right; we had room for appetizers, entrees, desserts and wine and we felt juuust right afterwards. It'd be a great place to go with a group of buddies or on a date... a good place for intimate conversation and great food! Pros: Yummy food and wine, friendly staff, cozy atmosphere more

No mistake - this place is awesome! 2/27/2007

This place is a true diamond in the rough. Cons: is not under my house more

nice place 2/23/2007

Went there with a couple of friends. We weren't sure about sharing a table with other two people but it ended up being a lot of fun. The food was very good, the lasagna was definitely the best I had in a long time (since my mom used to cook for me in Italy). My friends had the specials of the night and they were all excellent. Te dessert I had, a white chocolate tart, was impressive. The wine selection was good and the waiter was very helpful in choosing the right one for the food we ordered. Definitely a keeper. Pros: everything Cons: cash only more

The real deal 2/21/2007

We are long time fans of D.O.C. and finally made it to P.T. for a truly remarkable dining experience. This restaurant truly has it all. The design of the place is stunning without being austere. From the detail of the bathroom light switch, to the bread served in a brown paper lunch sack, to the silver ware placed on individual grey stones, it is a warm and delightful place to have dinner. The staff is remarkable. Don't expect French service, expect an authentic Italian dinning experience. This is the real deal. The servers are incredibly knowledgeable about the unique wine list and incredible food. If you are lucky, you might get a bear hug from the chef who comes out to see how people are enjoying their meal! My favorite items were the special appetizers of a single ravioli stuffed with venison and the shrimp salad with fennel which was refreshing and tasty. The en trees were also wonderful. The home made Tagliatelle pasta dish with a boar chocolate ragout was incredible. The lobster ravioli special was a subtle delight. We can't wait to go back and try more! more

BEST RAVIOLI 1/5/2007

I live nearby and i stop by at PT for casual and for fancy dinners. it never disappoints. The dishes are unique and delicious without the high prices and the waitstaff is there to make sure you enjoy your night. They have daily specials and the homemade pastas are perfect....i think this place is for the intellectual palate only. Pros: best homemade pasta.cozy restaurant. more

Overpriced fiasco drenched in butter... 1/2/2007

I went with a group for New Years? Eve and it was an overpriced fiasco. I hate going to a restaurant and feeling intimidated into ordering from the Prix Fixe menu so I didn?t. After asking the waiter about 4 times to repeat what our options were (we couldn?t understand a word he said) my significant other and I decided we wanted to share two entrees. Those entrees were full-priced and when they came, there was nothing on the plate. We walked out feeling taken advantage of and starving. We?re not into big portions either. Everything tasted like it was saturated in butter. We will never return. It kind of ruined our New Year's Eve. Overpriced, pretentious restaurants need to stay out of Williamsburg, especially if they can't deliver the goods to back it up. Pros: Cute little restaurant Cons: Prices, service, food more

great spot ! 12/21/2006

After a few times there I decided to share some thoughts about this place. The atmopsphere at PT is great, casual, relaxed and cozy, it just feels right. Anyway the main reason I keep on going there is to enjoy some good wine and some good food. My favorite dish is the vincisgrassi, it's true that I love lasagna in general, but this one is just superior. The appetizers are all great, fresh, simple and very tasty....just the way they are supposed to be. The menu is quite concise, but I always found a good number of different specials to choose from. Great spot ! more

Definetely a good find 12/20/2006

Pointless trip 12/19/2006

Went on a Friday night with my husband. As we stepped in, we were gladly impressed with the appearance of the place: looks cozy and not trying too hard to be trendy. We sat at the bar. The two bartenders/waiters were more interested in watching the dust settle than to serve us. We felt unwelcomed from the get go. The few words dispensed by the waiters had more attitude than anybody who has ever worked at Lucky Chen'g. OK, maybe that's one way to highlight that they are Italian bartenders and that we should be thankful that we are eating (for the first and last time) there. The food, however, was as 'nostrano' as Applebee's Festa Italiana. The homemade tagliatelle were by no means homemade and had the consistency of any Barilla pasta that has been cooked overnight. My fish ('orata') was floating in a warm broth that was unbearably tasteless and was served with some vegetables that must have spent the night with the tagliatelle. My husband had an OK lasagna. The crowd? A lot of out-of-towners (think Milwaukee) and Long Islanders. ""Si mangia molto meglio altrove"". Pros: Space and cozyness Cons: Food, service, noisy more

Great food! Good service! 12/16/2006

I ate here on a regular basis last month and managed to try just about everything on the menu. I won't make specific recommendations because I want you to try everything they have! Pros: Great food and service Cons: Wish it were free more
