impressed 10/2/2006

At the insistence of a friend who has been raving about this place since it opened, I went here for dinner over the weekend. Though this friend has impeccable taste in food, I wondered how a brand new spot could be so good as to warrant her high level of enthusiasm. I quickly learned, however, that she was not exaggerating - this place is a gem. We split all of our dishes, and they were all marked by freshness and an innovative blending of flavors and textures. The pumpkin soup, for example, was saved from typical pumpkin-soup-blandness by just the right dash of chives and a dollop of cream. The seafood stew had the most perfectly sliced (paper-thin) potatoes in it, giving it a sort of delicate oomph. But the clincher, for me, was the perfect barley risotto with prawns. I was dreaming about this dish the next morning before breakfast, and I absolutely did not want to eat anything else. On top of all this, the atmosphere is casual but gracious, and the staff was friendly and genuinely excited about the food - who doesn't like that? Pros: the food Cons: ? more

Viva Italia! 10/2/2006

My husband and I recently made the trek from midtown Manhattan to dine here with a couple of friends and cannot tell you how worthwhile the trip was. Settled in my ""high"" chair, I proceeded to eat my fill of the savory squash soup starter that was topped with yummy salmon tartar, then onto a delightful mesclun salad sprinkled with goat cheese. And les pieces de la resistance that made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside were the spicy asparagus-rolled-beef and seafood scalloped-potato stew! But I have not even mentioned dessert ... which included a tasting of a refreshing carrot mousse (I know it sounds ""different"" but it was oh so goood) and chocolate cake oozing with chocolate sauce. This last dish was so delish that it had my husband ready to go to battle with a girlfriend of ours for the last bite! I would definitely recommend this place to all my ""foodie"" friends! more

Great italian spot 9/17/2006

I was heading to Bonita (across the street) last weekend when I spotted this place across the street. I figured I would try something new this time, and I was definitely not disappointed. The place is cozy, had great service, and great food. The wine selection was pretty affordable, and helped me win some brownie points with my date. There weren't alot of items on the menu, but who cares when you serve food this good. Pros: Great food, low-key atmosphere Cons: Short menu more

Feels like home 9/12/2006

I was in NYC last week and I decided to try this brand new italian restaurant, I was quite sceptic at first because I'm from Italy and I'm used to high standard when it comes to eating, but I immediately changed my mind, the ambience is terrific, the guys were very friendly and polite and the food was the best. This place is just perfect, I'll go there over and over again more

Can't stop thinking about their food... 9/12/2006

Another gem on the Southside of Williamsburg!!!!! PT serves high-end quality cuisine, combined with a tasteful, non-pretentious ambience, service, and prices. I have dined at a lot of the top restaurants in New York, but I have to say PT takes the cake in Italian food. Realizing his recipes with only the freshest organic produce and herbs, homemade perfectly-cooked pasta, and savory sauces that top all of the assorted dishes offered, PT's Italian celebrity chef is clearly a driving, culinary genius in this sophisticated, laidback, candlelit niche. Not to be missed is the outdoor garden area, or Monday prix-fixe nights introducing alternating regional Italian fare. more

Simply the best 9/12/2006

Finally THE Italian restaurant in New York City! The best food I have tried since I moved here from the mother land. Amazing customer service, great wine list, superb atmosphere, definetly a must for every real newyorker Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing more
