Nice place, but meat wasnt all that 5/23/2011

Although this is a really nice place, I didnt think the food was all that great. I went here for my birthday with a pretty big group of people and didnt think that the meat was too good. The service wasnt bad, I just would think twice about coming back for a few reasons. I didnt think that the servers came around to our table that much or that they paid attention to the fact that we had pretty big table. They didnt come around to all of us and it wasnt at the same time. Also, I've been to other Churrascaria's and, in comparison, I was not really impressed with the food here. The meat wasnt that great and I feel like you're paying more for it being a nice place than for the service or food. I wouldnt tell people not to come here, just that it's not the best. more

Excellent food and even better service 4/12/2011

What a great time. The variety of meats was unbelieivable. The service staff was friendly and very attentive. The buffet bar was outstanding. All in all a terrific meal ! I took my 16 yr son here before a concert at MSG. I expect he will never forget the awesome experience. NICE !\r It was not inexpensive but was def worth it ! more

Meat Survival Guide 1/11/2011

My friend just kicked me in the face and as payback he has agreed to take me to Platforma for dinner. This is my game plan everytime I go to Plataforma: 1- Eat a light breakfast and lunch. 2- Drink lots of water during the day. 3- Go to Plataforma for dinner 4- Get a plate 5- Resist the temptation to fill up on bread (maybe just the pao de queijo), salad bar, sushi, rice, yucca frita or the other sides (although they are delicious) 6- Flip your little cardboard thing to the green side 7- Let the meat orgy begin - avoid the chicken and sausage and go for the expensive good beef - sirloin 8- make a special request for skirt steak 9- Make trips to the toilet as necessary and make sure to flirt with the coat check girls more

Tons of great meat! 8/30/2010

This is not an everyday outing but it's an experience worth having. I'm lucky I was briefed on the menu and it's culture. The rare steaks pieces were superb, wine was great, and it almost felt like Frank Sinatra was going to walk in and sing for you. Old/ New New York at it's best. I've learned that the good cuts of meat tend to come later in the meal... pace yourself... please do! more

**MUST** Go to in NYC! 6/14/2010

I went there with three other people over the weekend with my girlfriend and another couple, and everything was GREAT, people are saying that the food isn't worth it and that you are being ripped off, which is not true at all. We were seated immediately despite being 15 minutes early and were quickly greeted and served. Our plates were constantly cleared and there was never a shortage of food. While this may not be the most authentic Brazilian food (I go there once every few years to visit family) I found that the waiters and servers were speaking Portuguese, and knew all the meats very well. Point being, the food is still amazing. To start we hit the salad bar, the selection was small but why go to a place like this for a salad bar? Shortly after we were notified that we could have as many sides as we want and given a check list. No we did not get charged extra. If you are in NYC and are looking for a great place to dine this is the spot, great easy access from any place in the city, and its a short walk from Central Park to walk off the enormous meal! Pros: Excellent Food, Service, Enviroment Cons: Pricey more

Love Pricy Juicy Meats 4/16/2010

Are you super hungry? Are you a carnivore? If you nodded twice, this would be the right place for ya. Yes, it serves juicy meats. Oh my God, meats are so juicy and delicious; fresh from the kitchen one after another. Yes, they have a buffet with salad and some seafood as well. You know what I liked it a lot; especially sushi, shrimp cocktail, and super tender octopus. I ate too much to leave any room for desert, but they looked so good. This place is much better than the fancy steak houses where they charge $50 to $100 dollars a small potion of meat. After you try this place, you don't want to go back those fancy steak houses. Oh ya! Pros: Oh My Delicious Cons: Pricy more

The Service was terrible 4/2/2010

So I brought my girlfriend to this place for her birthday because she loved it when we went there with a huge group for lunch; I was in a suit then. The service was alright then and the food was good too, but not exceptional. This time, however, when I went there alone with my girlfriend, I went in there jeans (her and I wanted to feel comfortable) and the waiter gave us an attitude and also walked way rudely when we tried asking questions. It made my girlfriend and I feel so uncomfortable we just left. It was the hugest disappointment. Not only did they lose a good customer who tips over 20% every time in addition to service fees, they're bad service reputation and poor waiter reputation is going to spread every time someone asks me for a recommendation. If one is going to go to this place, one might as well spend their money on baltazar where they offer A++ service and the food is much higher quality. Pros: The food is worth trying once Cons: The waiters look down at you if you're under dressed more

Service...out of this world, Food...not so much 8/16/2009

People keep telling me this is a great Rodizio because I always rave about the Rodizio's I go to. But after visiting this place I just don't see this Rodizio being on my Top 5 list of Rodizio's. I am going to point out the right and wrongs about this place.\r \r First of all I want to commend this place for the best service I have ever experienced at a Rodizio. The whole time I never had to ask for anything, My drink was always full, my eatting area was always cleaned (new clean plate every 10 mins). But great service comes with a big price. It's definitely one of the most expensive Rodizio I have ever been to at $60.00 per person.\r \r Ok, now let's talk about the most important part of a Rodizio, the MEAT and food. I didn't see much variety of meats, it was the basic selection of chicken ,beef, and pork. The place lacked some variations of beef cuts and the meat was mostly cooked to medium and medium well. A lot of the Rodizio's that I have been to ask you how rare you want the meat to be, Plataforma doesn't really ask, and if you ask them to cut you a rare slice of meat, it's still medium. But the meat they use are definitely the best grade of meat you can get. Also this place isn't really creative on the ""Bacon wrap meats"" (ex. chicken wrap in bacon, turkey wrap in bacon). I have been to some places that had everything they served wrapped in bacon, it's a little excessive but you can never have too much bacon. Three things bothered me about the meat they served, first is the fact that they serve Ham as one of their meats. Ham is for breakfast not for a Rodizio, Second is that they don't have a cut of prime ribeye steak, They have a great prime rib but no prime ribeye steak, I think prime ribeye steak is one of the most delicious steaks, it's a must have at any rodizio and lastly they don't have an unique meat, for example, alligator, quill, duck, pigeon (no pigeon in NYC? come on?!?) or frog legs, something that you don't see or normally eat. i think duck would have been a nice addition to their list of meats. Enough about the meats and lets get to the other stuff. Their salad bar is definitely very very nice, good variation, some sushi, seafood and very fresh greens. some different about this place are their list of sides, you get to pick from a dozen list of sides that goes with your meats. And yes like everyone said they have a great wine list.\r \r My rating was really based on how the meats were and it didn't stand out for me. Yes they do have a lot sides but I eatting at a Rodizio to stuff myself with sides and they do have a great wine list, but any decent red wine will do for me. Yes the service is great and the place is fancy but I am not going to a Rodizo to impress my date while I eat a few lbs of meat (oh yea that's definitely impressive). When you go to an rodizios you want to be impressive by the different cuts of meat and how well they are cooked and experience unique flavors and this place just didn't do it for me. I would give it a 4 but the price I had to pay for a place like this is kind of a let down.\r \r note: If you want to try some great rodizios go to newark,nj. Pros: The Service is the best I have ever experienced at a Rodizio Cons: Varity of Meat is low more

A true churrascaria in NYC 8/13/2009

Great variety of meats and salad bar. The service is top notch. Make sure to request PICANHA NOBRE to your servant...its the best and most expensive cut. :O) Trust me, this is just like nice churrascarias in Brazil. Make sure to go there hungry. Pros: quality/variety of meats Cons: nothing more

Food was good for the first hour but then you eat yourself into a steak hang over! Wayyyy too over priced for something that will put you out of commission for a week. more

Great Steakhouse for parties of 4 or 5 + 11/10/2008

Really filling and high quality meats. Flip the red to green and the waiters will come over and cut fantastic meat over your plate. Good for parties but also pricey. They also have a great seafood buffet and salad buffet as well. Drinks are expensive but I think you can get a group deal for a cheaper then eating with one person. Which brings me to the next point it is not the type of place you bring a date. But I recommend it for sure. Pros: Fun, energetic, good eats Cons: expensive and filling more

Immaculately clean, awesome food and service. 10/9/2008

I've been in their kitchen, it's IMMACULATELY clean. It's one of the only places in NY whose kitchen I have been in and wouldn't hesitate for a second to eat there. The food is some of the best I have eaten, the atmosphere in the dining area is amazing. Take a few moments looking up from your plate at the cieling. The service and settings... All top notch. Pros: Everything more

Unbelievable!!! 8/25/2008

I was told not to eat anything all day before I come here. I'm glad I followed the instructions. I didn't go crazy with the meat because there was so many other delicious dishes to try. Everything was fresh and yummy. There is a plenty of seafood and they bring to your table rice, beans, polenta, fried bananas, homemade steak sauce, cheese bread 9t o die for), and mashed potatoes. Not to mention there are people coming over to your table with racks of prime rib, short ribs, chicken, sausage, and several different cuts of steak. Yeah, and then there is a dessert cart which will add that extra sweet taste you will need.\r more

Snooty Service for a wannabe Foga De Chao 5/21/2008

You get what you pay for. The food is good and the price is high.\r \r Unfortunately, you also get snooty service. What baffles me is how an entirely unoriginal concept could be so snooty about its service. When you go to Daniel, Per Se, etc - they are warm and welcoming and you have a great experience. \r \r I didn't see any Michelin stars on the wall, nor people queuing like at the Little Owl, but yet several of their employees, including ""Ricardo"" treated us as if we were lucky to be there.\r \r The real luck is that I can stop by a better version of a Brazillian steakhouse in Dallas or Atlanta, where people have better manners. Cons: Group Dining Nightmare! more

Great food, service could be better 5/13/2008

We ate there on Mother's Day and I accounted for that fact in my review. Party of 6 adults. We were seated reasonably quickly with a full house. Head waiter greeted us but was rarely seen during the dinner. No wine list offered. We had little attention from the drink waiter (surprising as this is a big money-maker for them) and had to repeatedly ask for wine and beer replenishments. The headwaiter assisted with some drink orders near the end of dinner after I flagged him down. He was friendly and polished.\r \r Desert was a bit hodge-podge. The cart was rolled in and we made selections and were served. Coffee was not even offered as there was no drink waiter. We had to flag one down.\r \r Port wine was offered and I think it was comp'ed or part of the desert service.\r \r Had a good time - the buffet, sides and the meat courses were all very fresh and flavorful. The meat waiters were attentive. Pros: Food - perfectly cooked meats and fresh buffet Cons: Service was a bit off but OK more
