Love my haircut..... 3/26/2011

I needed a new salon, so I chose one in West Seattle. Luckily It was Pinup, and adorable tiny salon on Harbor Drive. Madison did my hair, and she really listened. I was so tired of my long wavy hair and ready for an easy shorter style. This is the best cut I've had in years. It's been over a month and it looks like it was cut yesterday. I also wanted to change the color and she was great with that, too. She picked color that looked so natural with my skin tone, and brightened up my face. After a month the color still looks fresh and crisp. Lastly, I was looking for new hair products and the Loma Pearatin and AG products Madison used on me are super. They helped keep the color from fading and my hair is super manageable and shiny, and best of all not greasy. Plus they protected my hair from damage by my blow dryer and flat iron. I highly recommend Madison, and the Pinup Salon. They have great deals on Facebook so remember to like them before you book your appointment. more

Great Color, Awful Cut 7/27/2010

I'm a curly, wavy blonde who heard Pinup was a good West Seattle salon. I love the pinup girl style and appreciated being able to book an appointment by email. The stylist I saw did a great job listening to what I wanted for color and delivered on her word. The cut felt like an after-thought. She said she'd studied curly hair and did a great job with the color. So I thought it was ok until the next day I washed and dried my hair - I ended up with two puffy clumps of hair around my face. In my email I had requested a brow wax, but they didn't seem to have that set-up in the salon, and no mention was made of that part of my service request. Ultimately I want a salon where I can get expert care in all three departments: cut, color, brow waxing. I would highly recommend pinup for color, but leave the cutting to someone else. Pros: Great Color Cons: Bad Cut more

Super happy with the service 5/12/2010

I found this place through a Groupon deal, and have been back several times. I thought I'd go back to the hairstylist, I'd been going to, but Ronda has a way with my hair. I've been over the moon each and every time. The shop is super cute. And I love the coffee stand that right outside of the front door. Pros: Great haircuts and color Cons: NA more

Not worth the hassle! 3/24/2010

Make a long story short...i bought a groupon to receive hair services from this salon w/o doing my proper research. To say the least, my hair turned out orange with blonde pieces when it was suppose to be a caramel brown full foil. Jennifer, the owner, refused me a redo, without me first paying $30 for the product charge, hence, let me remind you that my hair was ORANGE. She then proceeds to complain to me on the phone how groupon customers were demanding, how she's lost so much money on the groupons, and then blamed me for my hair turning out the way it did. She would not make me happy as the customer and did not even stop through her ranting and raving so that i could explain my situation until i asked her if i could talk now. Horrible business owner...one piece of advice, don't advertise on groupon and then complain about it. I tipped my stylist 20% of the $140 so there was no way i was being cheap even though i was disgusted by the color. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!! Cons: horrible service, incompetent owner more

Super cute salon on Alki does great work too! 1/19/2010

I went there on a Groupon deal and will definitely go back. I had terrible service at Shanti Salon in West Seattle and was in search of a new place to patronize. Rhonda, the stylist, was great -did beautiful color and a quick trim. The salon in small, but super quaint -AND Rhonda says they'll provide wine if you come by in the evening! Now that's service!! Pros: They have a low-flow toilet and next door to espresso stand Cons: Bathroom is outside- Not ideal for foils more

Great Wedding Hair & Makeup! 9/26/2009

On my wedding day last month, Jen traveled to my mom's home in Puyallup to do my hair, makeup and the hair for 4 of my bridesmaids. I've been going to Jen to have my hair done for the last couple years and was pleasantly surprised to learn that she's a great makeup artist as well! She did an amazing job and my friends and I were all very happy with her work. I'd highly recommend Jen for any wedding or event hair and makeup. And it's definitely a bonus that she's willing to drive almost anywhere. That bit of convenience on my wedding day was invaluable. more

Keratin Treatment is Great 8/25/2009

Found Jen and Pinup Salon based on reviews here on Citysearch. Another hairdresser had recommended I try a keratin treatment to get rid of frizz. Jen promptly scheduled an appointment and made sure I knew what to expect (and not expect) from the treatment. Jen was easy to talk to, her salon is nicely done, and the result was amazing. Silky smooth hair, no trace of frizz, and easy to manage. Will continue going to Pinup. Pros: Treatment made my hair silky soft Cons: Treatment takes awhile more

The Best Salon Experience I've had in Seattle!! 8/19/2009

Pinup Salon offers a unique one-on-one salone experience. I felt I could sit back, relax, and have a great cut/color without the hassle and the pretentious attitudes that come with most Seattle salons. Jen took the time to listen to what I was looking for, what styles I’ve had in the past, and the vision I have of my hair for the future. She was able to give me exactly what I want. (And ladies, you know that’s not easy to find!) \r \r Another big plus for me is that they’re open 7 days a week. It’s been so easy to find a time that works with my busy schedule. I'm so glad I’ve found this place!\r \r P.S. I love the space she’s in - absolutely adorable and intimate!\r Pros: best cut/color!, great chat, easy to find, free parking! Cons: Nada! more

not impressed 7/14/2009

I had been coloring my hair black for years, and I wanted a change. after a few emails back an forth, I was confident Jen could solve the problem. I knew it would not be an easy task, but she seemed sure she could do it in my price range and without bleach. after 8 hours and not much change in the color, I was charged more than we talked about, she had resorted to bleaching, and I still had to come back 2 days later for more 'processing' by another stylist! needless to say, months later I am still growing out the mess. more

Fantastic Haircuts for Guys! 6/5/2009

I have pretty simple hair and usually go to SuperCuts, but I was blown away when I tried Jen's salon. It is a cool, relaxing spot to get a haircut and Jen does a great job asking questions and making sure she cuts your hair just right. I would highly recommend Pinup Salon for guys or anyone needing a quality haircut! Pros: Fun, hip environment to get a haircut more

A great haircut 6/3/2009

Jen's caring and fun attitude makes her salon a great place to go to for a haircut. She is diligent in her work and she continues to take classes as well as teach other hair cutters. I have all sorts of cowlicks that flummox (I don't get to use that word in a sentence very often!) other hair cutters and she was able to deal with them. Pros: Jen listens to what I want to do with my hair more

Top Salon in West Seattle! 6/2/2009

The personal touch that the decor and Jenn provide hits you from the moment you enter. Whether it is her infectious smile or warm demeanor, time flies with Jenn. Most importantly, my hair always looks great! You'd be crazy not to branch away from the standard salon experience for Pinup!! Pros: Intimate & Relaxing Environment more

Thanks for the great cut! 6/2/2009

I have had a standing appointment every three weeks at the same barber shop for years. A problem arose when I found out my barber was going to be out of town for 6 weeks over the holidays: what was I to do after three weeks?!?! I'm very particular about my hair and dread going to new places because inevitably something goes wrong and I end up with an embarrassing haircut for a few weeks. However, instead of flying out of the country to meet my barber on his vacation for a quick trim, I ventured down to Pinup Salon and gave Jen the exact specifications of what I was looking for. Needless to say, she nailed it! The first time! It was a great experience and I highly recommend it for anyone in the market for a new salon. Thank you, Jen! Pros: Jen cut my hair just right... the first time! Cons: Jen hasn't cloned herself yet & opened a space in Ballard :( more

Bad Hair Day/Month/Year - Jen will fix that! 6/2/2009

You will be treated well and leave with fabulous, easy to manage hair. Pros: Great space, easy to find, easy parking, talented stylist. more

Great hair in a gorgeous salon 4/30/2009

Jen is fabulous. She knows how to do a very flattering cut that lives up to my Iow-maintenance hair requirements. She always has a smile and really listens to what I want to have done with my hair. No pretensions! more

Not Afraid to Give a Hair Makeover 4/7/2009

I was tired of going to my hairstylist, telling her I wanted something different, and walking out with the same old cut. Jen was not afraid to consider my face shape, push my comfort zone, and give me a haircut I was truly excited about. Cute, cute, cute and super stylish!\r \r Jen also did my hair for my wedding, and it was fabulous! Pros: Didn't just give me the same old thing. more

Worth the drive from Magnolia 3/23/2009

I have been practically married to my colorist and stylist from Gene Juarez, I could not have imagined going anywhere else... however, after a number of recommendations, I decided to give Pinup a try. I was not disappointed! The attention Jen gave me was top notch. I had one of her Keratin Smoothing treatments. Not only was I blown away by the result (I can actually leave my long hair to air dry!!) but the service and price was unbeatable. I still think of my ""hair-exes"" with fondness, but I don't see myself heading back in the near future. Viva Jen and Pinup salon! Go ahead, give it a go, you won't be disappointed! Pros: Jen, easy parking, by the beach, intimate and fun Cons: I wish Jen was closer to Magnolia! more

Finally! I found someone! 3/23/2009

After going to Jen a few times to cut my hair, I’ve officially decided… she’s the one! After years and years of searching for someone who I can trust with my long locks, Jen has proved to be the most experienced and skilled stylist in Seattle! \r I love how she not only listens to exactly what I have to say, but she actually understands the questions and concerns I have with my finicky straight hair. She even spends a fair amount of time (in between our great chat sessions) teaching me how to style my hair and even how gain a new appreciation for what my mane can, and can’t, do. She’s honest, reliable, and extremely personable. Her space is fabulous and cozy! I encourage everyone I know to take the short hop to West Seattle to experience Jen’s magic.\r Pros: Great parking, nice location, amazing service! more

The Keratin Treatment rocks! 3/5/2009

I recently got Jen's Keratin Treatment and I love it. I wanted a professional sleek look and that's exactly what I got. My hair is softer, silkier and shinier than it has ever been and it is incredibly easy to take care of. I basically roll out of bed and it looks like I just got my hair done. Whether it is up, back or down, it looks well put together. The time I am saving on hair styling is realy valuable to me as well! Jen's salon is a fantastic atmosphere with cool music and funky decor and the intimacy of the place makes you feel as if you have your own personal stylist. If you are looking for a different look, the keratin treatment really is an awesome way to go. more

Hair Therapy for Men 2/25/2009

I've been going to Jen for over a year now, and she's just fantastic. She's smart and sassy, and really makes you feel welcome in her salon. She's a blast to talk to, or just listen to, or ask advice from. I always leave with my hair looking great, and feeling like I've enjoyed a glass of fine bourbon with an old friend. Pros: plenty of free parking more
