After reading a blurb in New York Magazine, I decided to make reservations at YerbaBuena for a Friday night dinner with a friend. In the three years that I have lived in New York, I have never been so pleasantly surprised by a restaurant. Not only did they have amazing food (we started with the papas rellenas and a special chilled watermelon and avocado soup, I had the lechon, which, even to my extremely high Cuban standards, was exquisite and we ended with an order of churros for dessert) and cocktails (the cucumber cilantro jalapeno gin martini-esque cocktail sounded horrifying at first but was hands down the most delicious cocktail Ive ever tasted - and I've tasted my fair share of cocktails), but the service was impeccable and Giovanni, the manager, was an absolute delight. I would highly recommend YerbaBuena to just about anyone and can't wait to go back myself.
