I love this hotel. Right when you walk into the lobby, you're swept with the feeling for grandeur and romance. There's gold everywhere (I think i'm just particular to gold), and t...

Worst

This was my first time traveling to Las Vegas, my trip was booked as a package deal with 6 other family members, who have been to Las Vegas over 8 times.

non-plussed 5/17/2005

went to shibuya for my boyfriend's 30'th birthday while in vegas for the first time. i expected more. not to say it's bad, it's just good. the ambience is the high point - very classy & modern with plenty of elbow room at large, private tables. but i get sushi just as good if not better for half the price in new york. and the service was the low point. 20 minutes before even our water came. generally clueless & rushed waiter was polite, but not on the ball. there must be better options in MGM grand's A-team line-up of restaurants. Pros: ambience, good enough food, large, private tables Cons: food just good enough, sub-par service, pricey more

Not as good as I thought.... 5/10/2005

I had a high expectation for this restaurant since there are many good online reviews, but there were nothing impressive about Shibuya base on my own personal experience. Their food selection are very limited, and there are only about 20 types of sushi available in their menu. I was disappointed to find Sweet Shrimp is NOT in the list. Hand & Cut roll are very standard and typical compare to other local Japanese restaurants. Their cold & hot plates are rip off also. One order of Kapachi sashimi only has 4 slices. The plate is huge but only 4 slices in there makes it look weird. An unreasonable 20% gratuity was applied on my tap for my party of 10 seated in separate corners fae away from each other. In short, no more Shibuya Pros: Long Sake List Cons: Expensive, Limited Sushi Choice, High % Gratuity more

Great Pasta 5/5/2005

Their pasta dishes are wonderful. The salads are top shelf all the way. The service is great. We had reservations and were seated as soon as we arrived at a charming table right out front. Pros: Great food Cons: Almost too busy more

Wonderful food 5/5/2005

The food was awesome. Wait staff is attentive and great at pampering guests. The menu is varied and interesting. There hasn't been a single negative anytime we have eaten there. more

Chinese at it's BEST!! 3/24/2005

The service and friendliness of the staff as soon as we walked in to the time we left was so wonderful. I cannot compare the food as it was outstanding also. The best part is we were there with a large group - I cannot say enough good about it... we will stop in everytime we're at MGM Grand! Pros: service, Chinese Food, atmosphere more

So Grand! 3/24/2005

This hotel has so much to offer I don't know where to start... shopping, food, events... I went to NYNY accross the street once and didn't make it anywhere else over a long weekend. It was truely a city of entertainment in it's own. Make sure to see the Lion Habitat! more

Good wheelchair access 3/21/2005

My grandmother is in a wheelchair and this place is one of the few in Vegas that has rooms conveniently built for the handicap. Rooms are close by the casino on the first level through a separate entrance. Rooms and service are great. more

Decent buffet 3/16/2005

This buffet is decent, although not remarkable. They have the standard, roast beef and a huge salad bar. There desserts are plentiful though so save room. Beyond that, go if you're there, it's definitely better value than the other things offered at MGM. more

Not impressed 2/11/2005

I wasn't by impressed by anything but the decor. The ingredients were top quality and fresh but the overall taste of everything left a lot to be desired. Also, be aware things that are normally gratis as most Japanese restaurants such as edamame and rice are charged for here. Even the desserts (which I usually love no matter what) we lacking. I was very dissapointed, I normally love Sushi & Japanese food. Pros: decor, vibe, staff Cons: value, taste more

Very Very Disappointed 1/5/2005

Our party of 5 had reservations. We arrived slightly ahead of schedule to have a drink in the bar and enjoy the atmosphere. We were shuttled to our table - outside of the main room into a back room. The back room had NO atmosphere and was filled with large parties - a VERY stale environment. We asked to be moved into the main room and were denied. My seat faced the corner of this bland room. The food was average - nothing great, nothing so poor to send back. The service was too friendly - trying to make friends and hang out with us - at all the wrong times. The bill was steep for such a weak experience. more

Boo YA at SHIBUYA!! 11/23/2004

Best japanese in vegas period! I go ther every time I'm in Vegas. Staff is great and the chefs are very friendly. SHIBUYA KOBE IS AWESOME!!! Pros: design, service, food more

Good Buffet for a Group. 11/3/2004

We went to this buffet on Father's Day (Sunday) brunch. It was very crowded but the line moved quickly and offers a great view of the lion habitat. Once seated, our server was polite and helpful. We ordered the buffet which offered a HUGE selection of both breakfast and lunch/dinner items. WELL WORTH THE PRICE. We are local to Vegas and many of the buffets leave something to be desired. I would go back to this one - it was very good! Pros: Good Selection, Good Food more

do it 10/31/2004

arrived 6pm Sunday, pretty empty, but the main dining area & sushi bar gradually filled up ... very cool & not daunting or silly modern atmosphere inside. Unfortunately, it's at the MGM, and it's right along CityWalk ... would be nice is the premesis were recessed a bit, but hey ... Cold plates were lovely w/light flavors combining for powerful effect. A visit from the sommelier du Sake was refreshing too. the place to go before a show! Pros: cold plates, sake , value more

very good food 10/3/2004

The first thing I have to say...they serve steamed crab legs. This is the first buffet I have found in Vegas that actually serves warm crab legs. This was a very good buffet, but very expensive. There is also always a line. Pros: food quality, selection more
