I love this hotel. Right when you walk into the lobby, you're swept with the feeling for grandeur and romance. There's gold everywhere (I think i'm just particular to gold), and t...

Worst

This was my first time traveling to Las Vegas, my trip was booked as a package deal with 6 other family members, who have been to Las Vegas over 8 times.

Less than mediocre food! 9/20/2005

My sister and dined at Pearl during our recent stay at the MGM Grand; we enjoy fine dining and if we are spending a bit more on food, we expect to get our money's worth. We felt cheated at Pearl! While the decor and ambience are inviting, they are offer false security that the food will be just as good. Not only were 2 of our 4 dishes incorrect (and had to be re-ordered), all 4 left much to be desired regarding taste and quality! The lo mein noodles were very greasy, the beef was fatty, and the chicken with vegetables dish was extrememly bland and the chicken was processed! We are not usually picky about our food; however, not using real quality chicken in their dishes is not acceptable considering the price we paid for them! You and your pocketbook will regret dining at the Pearl. Pros: decor, service, ambience Cons: food, food , price more

Disappointing 9/7/2005

I've seen many Cirque du Soleil shows over the years and enjoyed them all. I was therefore very excited to be able to get tickets (even at $300) to see ""Ka"" in Las Vegas and share it with my boyfriend who had never seen the company perform before. Well, the excitement died out after about 5 minutes into the show. It had nothing of what you would expect from a Cirque performance. No unbelievable acrobatics. No amazing feats of balance or contortionism. Instead you got a baton-twirling, dance show. The action was so slow, I actually fell asleep for a moment. Other people were leaving halfway through. For a classic Cirque experience in Las Vegas, see ""O"" or ""Mystere"" instead. Pros: new theater/seats, good sound/music, great lighting and st Cons: boring story line, lack of acrobatics, SLOW/no excitement more

Expensive disappointment 8/28/2005

Seablue fell below our expectations. The staff was wonderful, and some of the dishes were excellent (appetizers, especially the lobster corndogs were a delight.) However, the ambiance and main dishes disappointed. Both our fish entrees, while good but not great, were noticeably undercooked. There's an odd ambiance with design elements that, nice individually, didn't seem to work together. The table for two was tiny and cramped. They cheerfully moved us to a comfortable large booth. for the price, I expected more than paper placemats! However, it was the background music that really ruined our experience. It was too loud, with a driving beat that never changed. The songs changed, but the beat never did, and after an hour, we were anxious to leave to get away from the music. In the end, neither the food nor the ambiance created a relaxing, enjoyable experience. Pros: Appetizers, Service Cons: Ambiance more

Delicious even if you don't like Chinese food! 8/22/2005

I went with a large group of people and even though some weren't huge fans of Chinese food - everyone thought the food was exceptional. It was very fresh, light, and flavorful and not greasy at all. All the dishes were perfect. Service was excellent and the waitstaff was very attentive. I would go back there again on my next trip to Vegas. Pros: Food, Service, Ambiance more

Overrated!! 8/8/2005

We had a 7:30 reservation and were seated at 8. By looking at the decor, I expected a lot more from this place. Menu contents were extremely limited and food was OK. The sashimi were not even fresh. We had a $400 bills for 4 ppl (didnt even ordered any hot entree) and stll came out feeling hungry (we are a moderate eater). It's just another fancy place with no real food! Perhaps the food at the food court beside it might tastes better. more

Quite a happening joint! 8/3/2005

This is a great club! Get there early if you want to dance to classic music from the 70s, 80s and 90s. After midnight, the music changes. Great atmosphere. Lots of people everywhere so its not for the claustraphobic! more

Just great food 7/9/2005

One of the most memorable meals I've ever had. Don't go expecting a typical sushi place. We ordered the tasting menu and it was beyond amazing! It included lobster in uni butter, and kobe beef with fois gras among many other fantastic dishes. However I could see being disappointed if you wanted special or diffrent types of sushi, they offer just the basics, but you can taste how fresh the fish is. The service was great as well, our waitress was very knowledgable, and so sweet. This is not the place to go if you just want sushi, but it is great for a special night out, be prepared to pay for it as well. We were more than happy to shell out $600 for four people (we ordered a ton!) Pros: FOOD, service, decor Cons: pricey more

The Club that Started it All 7/9/2005

Studio 54 was among the first super clubs to hit the Las Vegas scene and it's still one of the best. Dance until dawn to hot beats in this huge (I mean really, really big) nightclub. Designers have done a great job mirroring the hedonism and wildlife of New York's original "54." It's not uncommon to find people dancing from the ceilings and half-naked people performing unusual feats of daring while confetti showers down onto the dance floor. The club can get pretty crowded on a Friday or Saturday night -- and it'll stay that way until 5 a.m. Tuesdays are a special night for Studio 54. Dress code is strictly enforced. Drinks are as expensive as you might expect for a Vegas nightclub. PROS: Incredible atmosphere... Fun... Pulse-Pounding music CONS: Crowded more

Great Hotel, Great Location 7/7/2005

I stayed at the MGM during the 4th of July Weekend and would recommend this hotel to anyone who is interested in a hotel with everything you could ever want. The casino is great (especially the Poker room), there is a wide array of food choices and the rooms are very good. We stayed in the West wing, which features a TV built into the mirror in the bathroom. The only negatives are the bed pillows (very thin) and the food carts left in the hallways for many hours. I would stay here again, though, due to the location and amenities. Pros: Price, Activities, Comps more

Good Service, Average Food 7/7/2005

My husband and I visited Craftsteak for a nice, quiet dinner, which we received but we were very disappointed in the food. The service and lobster bisque was very good; however, the steak left a lot to be desired. There was no seasoning on the steak and I found it to be chewy. I would not recomment spending $150 on one meal at Craftsteak. Pros: Service Cons: Price, Food Quality more

A great Eat 6/6/2005

My girlfriend and I visited Craftsteak twice while staying at the MGM. The caviar is great, the kobe fillet is great, and the 2lb Australian lobster tail was superb. If you're in a hurry, don't go here. Service is good, but a little slow at times. Overall, the food was great and I would recommend this restaurant to others. more

Did not meet expectation 5/18/2005

The service was great. The lobster bisque was excellent. The side dishes were excellent. But the steak was a big disappointment. Although I would say, it was a great cut of meat. It did not meet the level of the rest of the meal. The steak did not have an outstanding flavor or imagination in how it was grilled. Anyone can put a high quality cut of meat on a grill, but for the value I would expect outstanding flavor and grilling. If the steak had met the level of the rest of the meal, it would been an excellent dining experience. more

non-plussed 5/17/2005

went to shibuya for my boyfriend's 30'th birthday while in vegas for the first time. i expected more. not to say it's bad, it's just good. the ambience is the high point - very classy & modern with plenty of elbow room at large, private tables. but i get sushi just as good if not better for half the price in new york. and the service was the low point. 20 minutes before even our water came. generally clueless & rushed waiter was polite, but not on the ball. there must be better options in MGM grand's A-team line-up of restaurants. Pros: ambience, good enough food, large, private tables Cons: food just good enough, sub-par service, pricey more
