Every staff member was friendly. My stylist was Kitty, and she's phenomenal. She made me feel right at home straight away. She really listened to what I wanted in a hair style and made sure that we both understood the haircut about to take place. She has a kind of easy nature about her that makes it really easy to like her right off the bat and make a strong connection. \r \r When you come in, be prepared for THE hair wash of your life, and I got a great scalp massage. Plus the lavender-mint shampoo smells amazing. All of this plus a wonderful haircut and great conversation. No more ""saving"" for a trip to the hair salon! I'm more than happy with my experience at Alooks Salon and cannot wait to return. more

Kitty is phenomenally talented with both color and cut. The salon is charming and comfortable, and Kitty is a straightforward, thoughtful artist. (Also perfectionist, which might account for the amount of time and energy she puts into getting the cut and color to be exactly what was envisioned.) I have longish hair that is easy to botch; Kitty was able to color correct the botched hair I showed up with, create a beautiful and easy to maintain blond, and come up with a cut that is flattering and easy to style on my own. I can't imagine a better salon experience, or better results. The woman is amazing. more

The salon is beautiful... the staff is very friendly and make you feel at home. My Stylist did a great job on my hair and I would definitely go back to her. This place was great and I highly recommend it. more

My hair has natural curls, frizz, and always has dry split-ends. So I getting Keragreen Treatment !!! Update: Ok, so it's been one week since getting my Keragreen Keratin Smoothing Treatment. My hair still looks great! My ends were a bit dry but that was because I needed it trimmed which I just got done Saturday and it's so smooth and silky! Love it! I even noticed that when I washed my hair my hair color isn't washing out as much as it did before I got this treatment done. I colored my hair one week before the treatment and it's really helping it hold the color. more

I HAVE BEEN GOING TO JOY FOR LESS THAN A YEAR. Every time I made the appointment I only have certain hours available. I don't have time to find a new stylish so I tried to be patience. When I arrived at the salon for my hair appointment as usual. Again, Joy is running late at least 30 minutes. Over all her color and cut is okay. I go to her because I don't know the area. Plus She is nice . Im very busy running around between works and dealing Joy's time. it's very frustrated! more

Janell is AWESOME! I called her on a friday morning and I wasn't expecting a call back the same day, but surprisingly within hours, I had an appointment for the same day. I told her exactly what I wanted and she gave me exactly that! I left very happy not only with my cut and color but with the price as well. very reasonable. I am definitely going back for other services as well as referring everyone I know to her! more

I have been coming to Jenell at Alooks for months now. I had been searching for a good local stylist for a few years before that. Jenell came highly recommended for her expertise with color. My hair has never looked better. Her skills with highlights and grey coverage are out of this world. Jenell also cuts my hair too, and although the prices are not bad. Jenell is a senior stylist which is not a title that Alooks bestows on just anyone. As long as I continue to have people surprised that I am 30 rather than 25, Jenell will always be top choice for color and cut! more

We moved here a year ago and needed to find a new colorist/stylist for my wife..My wife went here after read reccomendation from this website and requested NINA.. . My wife had gorgeous brown hair . Nina give her highlights were orange yellow and the worst the color was awful...For past few months, Ive been trying to accept her new look...It was ??????? ... . In general, I think these stylist is over rated. more

KITTY was my stylist..and did a FANTASTIC job!!! I always say I'm not picky about my hair but that is absolutely the opposite. Even when I've paid over for a cut/color, I still had to direct the stylist as she went along. (Why???) Not with Kitty...she fully analyzed what I wanted now with my hair, and in the future, to provide me with a cut that would really make me happy...and it did! I Love it! The salon was beautiful, clean, friendly, accomodating, and talent. You also get the most relaxing shampoo that also serves as a mini-massage! Every other stylist was also doing great work! I'm very pleased with my hair, will certainly be back, and encourage you to try it!! more

I have long, thick, frizzy, naturally wavy hair - real Latina horse hair and tons of it, you know what I mean? So it has always been hard to find that person that knows what to do with it, how to cut it, what color I'm trying to describe, etc. NINA knows exactly what do to with my hair and totally gets my style. Plus, the vibe at the salon is warm and welcoming .\r The Brazilian Blowout that Nina has done twice for me. It has really changed the texture of my hair - it is soft, smooth, and takes much less time to blowdry straight. When I use the flat iron - it's like silk. I could get my hair like this before but with a LOT MORE EFFORT and TIME. I'm HOOKED! The funny thing is, now that I spend much less time on my hair I've been spending more time on my eye make-up -- go figure!\r \r Thank you for make me feel GOOD!!!\r more

I found this place from a co-worker and I checked it out on citysearch. I hadn't cut my hair for over year because my last hair stylist did a terrible job and I had to wait for my hair to grow longer. I heard really great things about NINA so I wanted to give her a try.\r \r NINA is awesome! She listened to what I wanted and gave me advise on how to take care of my hair. She also gave me color & highlights . I have gotten so many great compliments on my hair and I tell them Nina did it. I moved to San Jose about a year and a half ago. Prior to my move I went through 7 different hair dressers, never finding one that I felt was worth going back to. A family friend recommended I go to JOY at alooks salon when I got to San Jose and I can now say...my search for a steady hair dresser is now over. Joy is an amazing hair dresser. I love changing my look a lot and feel comfortable to go to her with no game plan and let her do what she thinks will look best. Every time my appointment is over I leave astonished that my hair looks even better than the time before. My color has never looked better and she has made the dreadful experience of growing my hair out an easy process. I actually really look forward to my hair appointments with Joy because not only do I get the best head massage every time, but I also get to relax and laugh with her, allowing me to escape from my insanely hectic life. I was definitely in need of a stylist who can salvage my out of control hair. \r Of course, I found this place on Citysearch. I did a lot of research and read every person's reviews because I did not want to end up at yet another overpriced salon with stuck up stylists. No, you won't find that here. \r \r My stylist was Michael, I really went in there without a clue as to what I wanted to do with my hair and he gave me some great options . We ended up getting this really amazing color for my hair and the cut is wonderful. I wanted him to keep it long but add more life to it. He really is a genius in my opinion. Michael asked about my washing habits and gave me long scalp massage and some great tips to tackle my issue with oily hair. \r The pricing is pretty good too. At the other salons I had gone to, they were double the amount (that had turned me away from salons for quite sometime, hence the unruly mane.). \r \r Overall, I love this place and its unfortunate I didn't find it sooner. I could've saved my money from all those overpriced places. My hair feels and looks great, making me look and feel great as well. \r \r Thanks Michael! Back in March my hair was a hot mess of home color attempts to hide gray. I had several colors, bleached hi-lights, and still some gray. I knew I needed professional help, seriously, but who?? Previous dissatisfied trips to several salons had gotten me to where I was trying to do it myself and failing. And then.......a co-worker recommended Nina.\r \r oh WOW!!! Talk about a miracle - Nina is fantastic - a color correction savior! She was able to undo all my mistakes and bring my thick long mess of hair to a beautiful state of natural looking color, hi-lights and shimmer, and gave me a new style as well.\r \r I went back Saturday for a touch up of color and refreshed cut, again it is fabulous!\r \r who's my stylist now? it's hey Nina, Nina, Nina!!\r She's the only one who will be messing with my hair from now on! First of all, I really love that you can book appointments online through their website. I am currently having to do battle with my iPhone to get service in the middle of San Jose where I live, so talking on the phone is always dicey. Being able to circumvent the dropped call problem and book online was a huge relief! Also, Stylist called me the day before and left a message confirming the appointment, which I was hoping they'd do (even if it's booked online, it's still nice to get a human being confirming the appointment).\r \r I really liked the atmosphere and service. I arrived a few minutes early and was offered water,,etc.. while I waited . A few minutes later, NiNA came and got me and showed me to her station. I went in for an all over color/hl and basic cut and walked out of there with exactly what I asked for. Yvonne was super and professional it was a fine time had by all. She wisely steered me away from doing a true black dye on my naturally dark blonde/light brown hair (though it's been years since I've seen my natural hair color) and opted for a very dark brown instead and highlights. The color is fantastic. I couldn't be more pleased.\r \r The cut is also very nice, \r All in all, I'd say this was a good salon experience and right on par with what I would expect from this price point.
