Best

I've moved down to Florida temporarily, but will be returning back to NYC for good soon! Oasis was my favorite spa in the city. I had gone to their Affinia hotel located on ...

Worst

In mid Febuary I decided to do a facial just before a trip, for give my face a much needed treat. Reading reasonably good reviews on Citysearch, I decided to try Oasis Spa. Schedu...

Wonderful experience 11/5/2006

We got a 60 minute side by side couples massage and it was amazing. My masseuse was very nice and did a great job, I felt like butter at the end of it. (only bad thing was that it sounded there was hammering or pounding going on somewhere else in the building for abou 5 minutes - but I was able to zone it out anyway b/c I felt so relaxed) Locker room was very clean and big. Had the sauna all to myself. Staff was very friendly and I will defintily come back for other services. Highly recommended for their couples massage. Pros: wonderful couples massage, clean, relaxing ambiance more

Customer Service lacking 10/29/2006

I've been to this spa before and have had a wonderful experience. Their relaxation room is like a dim-lit lounge with plenty of reading material and drinks and snacks to enjoy while you wait for your therapist. The atmosphere is relaxing and enjoyable, however my last encounter left much to be desired. I had a 60-minute deep tissue with a therapist who chewed gum during the entire session. In addition, the room they put me in was absolutely freezing. I was cold and uncomfortable the entire time and distracted by the gum chomping. When I complained to the front desk that the room was not up to par, they didn't seem to care or take note that they would do something about it. They took my money and told me the rooms were always cold! Some customer service for a top rated spa!! If only the service were as welcoming as the lounge. Pros: Ambience Cons: Lousy Customer Service more

Relaxing and beautiful 10/26/2006

Upon arrival I was promptly whisked into the women's locker room and supplied a plush robe and slippers to change in to prior to my massage. I was then instructed to wait in the comfortable relaxation room. The room was supplied with tea, various dried fruit, snacks and water. My masseuse asked me prior to beginning what I wanted to focus on and she did just that. The massage was extremely relaxing and when I was done I took advantage of the sauna and shower - both completely spotless and again, relaxing. Overall the experience was fabulous. Pros: Relaxation room, spa rooms and locker room - all spotless and relaxing Cons: Small Entry Room with products and front desk more

Most relaxing facial! 10/15/2006

I had a facial with Debbie at the Affinia Dumont location. She was really attentive to my skin and made it such a relaxing experience. My skin was glowing afterwards! more

lisanne is awesome 10/9/2006

Like everyone else in new york i work at a desk and spend most of my time on the computer and my neck and back have certainly paid the price. My boyfriend was so sick of hearing me complain about that pain I was in he got me a gift certificate for a massage. Normally i like facials and scrubs and get freaked out by some massages but i figured i'd give it another shot since i was in soo much pain and i'm glad i did. Lisanne was my masseuse and she was awesome. i told her that problems i was having and her fingers worked their magic. I was so relaxed that I couldn't even pay attention to the fact that i was half dressed on the table. She gave excellent pressure and even worked on my feet which i've never had done before and my feet sorely needed from my heals. When I left I felt like a new person and my faith in massages has been restored. I HIGHLY recommend Lisanne especially for those who get a little nervous about massage-she's so great I keep telling people to get me a gift certificate for the holidays so I can start going to her on a regular basis!! Pros: Lisanne, massage more

best facial ever 10/3/2006

I have had a few facials at Oasis. Each time I go, they get better and better. The professionalism in the aestheticians is wonderful. I love the extra touch that each technician brings to the facial. I highly recommend this spa for facials. Pros: Great from beginning to end Cons: that the service has to end more

Invigorating massage! 9/26/2006

A true test of any spa is consistency. I've never had a bad massage at Oasis. Every massage I've had is always up to par and invigorating. I'm comfortable with any recommendation they offer when trying different massage therapists. Their massage therapists are top notch and they actually listen to where you would like them to focus. The massages are what I would call, 'inspiring.' I feel lighter, clearer headed, and have better mobility in my joints. more

Most painless Brazilian EVER!!!!!!! 9/8/2006

I know it sounds weird but as far as brazilians go, it was!!!! I was going away & being a constant procastinator... could only get an appointment at Oasis. I was a little skeptical since I had never been before; BUT I am so happy this happened. My aesthetician Mickey was amazing!!! When she came to get me in the waiting room she had a huge smile on her face and immediately put me at ease. She uses the strip wax (not hard-unless you really want her to) and I am telling you it hardly hurt at all. She is very fast; took only 10 min. Which seems like only one because she keeps talking to you the whole time & making you laugh to get your mind off of what she's actually doing to you. I will never go to anyone else. I trust her totally. You will not be dissapointed!!!!! I recommend her highly. more

Great experience start to finish 8/3/2006

From the moment I stepped in to Oasis, and I'd like to include the nice people who took my reservation, I was treatly warmly and enthusiastically. My massage was truly the best I've ever had and the facilities were wonderful. The entire staff was friendly and helpful I'll be back to try their other services Pros: staff, facilities, massage more

The worst Reservationist and Customer Service I've experienced 7/31/2006

hi, I have made numerous attempts to schedule an appointment at Oasis for my 3 girlfriends and I for the past 2 weeks. Everytime I call them, I get a different receptionist that gives me conflicting information. Now, they say they will be short on staff for my appointment I supposedly made with them for early September. What is the meaning of short on staff? I think it is perfectly feasible to handle a group of four with over 5 weeks of advance notice. I personally don't know what the hype is all about. They wouldn't even let me get my foot in the door. Management should be notified about the poor service and the lack of desire to remedy the problem. more

Wonderful experience 7/20/2006

I had the citrus scrub and a 45 min facial. Both women were excellent and very very nice. The scrub was heavenly, more than I expected. The facial was great as well. What a beautiful place. more

Overall good experience! - Sunless Bronzing! 6/13/2006

I went in for a sunless bronzing session which was a first for me. I asked for a sample to test with first(b/c I sometimes turn orange with certain products) and they gave it to me - even though I had to call 5 times and was told different things each time I called. The clinician was good and made me feel comfortable during what is kind of a bizarre experience (basically naked being rubbed down, washed and creamed). The final color was lighter than I would have hoped but nice and even. If you want your tan to set well you CANNOT touch water for the next 24 hours so be prepared! Pros: Open weekends, nice snacks Cons: Can be pricey more

I only go back because of ONE person ... 4/5/2006

Shatelle is an incredibly talented and amazing facialist. She is the only reason I continue to return to this spa. My first impression of Oasis was unpromising - staff at the front desk is RUDE and simply not interested in you. I've been to many spas and never have I been asked to pay for the service before receiving the service. At my first visit, after a very weak greeting, I was given the hefty bill, reminded that gratuity is only accepted in cash, and asked to turn off my mobile phone. After I left the drill sargent, Shatelle was great and redeemed the spa overall. Pros: Some Good Staff, Nice Facilities, Late Hours Cons: Bad Front Desk Staff more

I'm Hooked 3/3/2006

Hard to understand some of the negative comments I've read about Oasis. I have now gone 4 times for a variety of services and have found Oasis to be consistently a great experience. I particularly enjoyed how nice everyone is, and the massages and facial services are an exceptional value compared to other high end spa's I've visited in NYC. I will admit that I've called to schedule sometimes and have been put on hold for a couple of minutes. But the staff has always been accomodating while it sounds as if the phones are ringing off the hook there. There must be a reason the place is so busy, and it's because it's fabu. I highly recommend Oasis. Pros: Great services, Beautiful environment, No sales pressure Cons: Sometimes hard to get more

Overrated but nice 2/27/2006

I've been a couple times, and I agree with all the other reviews that the staff there is very rude, snobbish, and unprofessional. Bikini wax - I've done it a couple times, and not's not that good here. For me, applying pressure is important, but they didn't. And when I asked them to, they kinda mumbled something and barely did it. Body massage - it's OK, but not worth their price Reflexology - an older man did this. He kept talking the entire time and was rude. NOT recommended by HIM atleast. He was in his late 40s/early 50s I would guess. Pros: location Cons: staff, price more

Best Facial Ever 2/16/2006

I was very pleased with my facial, and the woman who did it (Evelyn? Vivian?) I'm bad with names, but the facial was so relaxing that I actually fell asleep a couple times. My skin is still glowing a day later. The only thing I didn't like is the relaxation room- where you go and wait to be called for your service. I would have been more comfortable if it was only women, as I was surrounded by couples and also other men. When I go to a spa, I don't want to worry about how I look, while waiting for my appt. That part was not relaxing. I could tell that a lot of people in that room were tense as well. Pros: Ambiance, Excellent Skin Care, Very Clean Cons: Price, "Relaxation" Room more

unbelievable attitude -- stay away! 2/9/2006

First, got 2 calls within one hour, by two different people, to confirm (no organization!). Woman sounded halfasleep and gruff and ignored my question about the cross-street (nice). On both calls, plus a third confirmation call, I was told, sternly, that tipping must be in cash. Lest we forget, Oasis also has a large sign at the front desk not stating "Welcome" or some positive message but stating that tipping must be cash and that 15-20% is recommended. Very low class. Post-services, I went to the front desk to check out and had a most disagreeable encounter with an employee named Nikki. Word limits prevent me from detailing but her attitude was unbelievable from the minute I walked up -- Oasis doesn't care about its clients if it has such a bitter person working there. There are too many spas in the city to go to one with angry employees. Pros: salt scrub Cons: bitter front desk, pushy about products more

Excellent facial! 2/6/2006

I just had a facial with Patricia. She was excellent! I felt wonderful afterwards! Pros: Patricia more

Too overrated! 2/1/2006

I have seen a lot of advertisement about Oasis Spa everywhere. So I was very excited about a gift certificate given to me for Christmas; but I found the deep tissue massage to be so average even after I explained to be too soft many times, then, the massage just became "weird" as if the therapist got offended. The ambience is nice but I am more interested on a great service. Pros: nice name, ambience Cons: terrible massage more

Nice atmosphere, but disappointing massage... 1/28/2006

Oasis was one of a couple spas recommended by colleagues when I mentioned I'd like a massage while visiting New York. I liked the atmosphere overall, and the staff that checked me in was very friendly. I was disappointed though in the actual massage. The therapist was friendly, but she seemed new or at least unfamiliar with the treatment (Muscle Meltdown Massage). This "specialty massage" ended up being a fairly standard Swedish massage with heat packs placed on the areas she wasn't working on at the time. She also seemed more like a chiropractor (pulling joints, applying pressure at odd angles, quick jolty movements) than the slow, deep muscle massage I expected based on the description online and conversation with the reservation agent. Next time, I will either try another spa or at least make sure I have a different therapist. Overall, not horrible, but certainly disappointing for the money... more
