Expect Great Tasting, Unique Southern/Creole flair...Don't Expect Good Service 8/13/2007

I've been going to NO-No's since they were in the shopping center off of Broadway, before they built their new restaurant. I love the food. But to keep from being disappointed, expect only fair service at best -it doesn't matter whether they are busy or not. Its never really good. The food keeps me going back just because I'm from the South and love the way they celebrate the South through their unique dishes. But the last time I went there they tried to served us their signature Gumbo without any rice. Thats like getting Irish stew without any potatoes! C'mon guys! And when I complained, our watress said ""yeah, we ran out""... Well then TELL ME YOU DON""T HAVE ANY RICE AND I'LL ORDER SOMETHING ELSE!"" Don't bother asking for the owner, it doesn't help a lot. We finally got our rice. Ofcourse it was AFTER most of the Gumbo was gone and the rest cold... Certainly don't expect an apology or some discount or a coupon or anything... the Brewster's east coast attitude comes off like ""I got your customer service right heah!"" And unfortunately, that attitude is passed down through the staff. When you get treated like that, you just don't feel appreciated as a customer. It's really sad. Such good unique recipes but an unreliable dining experience. Pros: Unique, spicey, Southern / Creole recipes in a setting that says 'Down South' Cons: ""Cocky, we don't really care"" attitude from the top-down creates a disappointing experience more

Unique and Wonderful Restaurant 8/12/2007

We always visit NONO's Cafe when we visit Denver. It is a delightful dinning experience with great dishes and adequate service. It has a homey atmosphere and great homey service. When it is busy the wait can be a little long but we aren't rushing to get anywhere. Life isn't intended to be as rushed as the Denver populace seems to think is necessary. The food is worth the wait. The cajun dishes are authentic as the owners are long time New Orleans residents and the chef is a local from the midwest who has a midwest work ethic. The southern comfort dishes are great and they even tell you where the recipes came from. The bread pudding is the very best I have ever eaten. Visit and enjoy the people and the great food. I can't believe the negative reviews I have read on this website!!! My experiences have always been the opposite but if it ensures I can always get into this restaurant so be it. We love it here!!!!! Pros: Food quality and value, Great owners, Cons: Not for a hurry up meal more

Horrible service! 5/18/2007

We have been to Nono's twice to enjoy the southern style food and have walked away disapointed each time. The food is good--excellent even--it's the service that will not bring us back. Both times we waited over ten minutes to get a drink order and both times the appetizer arrived before our drinks! After we've sent back the wrong dish, had the crabmeat dip delivered without bread, had to flag down a server (that wasn't even ours) to order and asked for our bill more than once, both times we left feeling not too excited about the establishment. Management makes no apologies for terrible service and the entire experience leaves something to be desired. Food is not worth the headache. Pros: Food Cons: Service, service, service! more

Best Menu Around 2/20/2007

We love No No's! My kids love the grilled peanut butter & jelly, my husband loves the Crawfish Monica, and I love the Beef Strogonoff. We always get the crab dip to start, and end it with the Strawberry Cake. This restaurant is a mom & pop shop (which you wouldn't think from the large building), so the service to me seems like a lot of the hired help is actually relatives doing a favor. But, the food definitely makes up for it, as every item on the menu seems to be well thought through and tested out (not just a whole bunch of generic food thrown in there.) A nice thing is that they always have their regular menu items, but rotate other menu items in each month, so there is always something new to try. A good restaurant for families and kids--very casual. Pros: Beef Stroganoff, Strawberry Cake, easy freeway access Cons: Mac n' cheese, service (sometimes) more

nice ""homey"" feeling 1/21/2007

We're always on the hunt for good breakfast food, and after seeing Nono's in a magazine, we decided to try it out. My husband had the ""Breakfast in Bread"" which is scrambled eggs, ham, hashbrowns served in a soft bread bowl, smothered with gravy!! It was huge, and though a bit carb-heavy, very delicious. I had the Strawberry French Toast, which was your traditional french toast stuffed with a whipped strawberry filling with pecans and raisins. It was very good, but very sweet! The service was fine, and the atmosphere felt like being in someone's home. Overall, we really liked Nono's, and would definitely recommend it to others! Pros: warm, homey feeling, good spot for breakfast more

Decent comfort food but terrible service. 9/26/2006

We have been hearing good things about Nono's Cafe so we were eager to try it...but will probably not go back. The food was pretty good actually (although we were starving!) Chicken Nono and salad with ranch dressing were well prepared. Mac n cheese was an oily brick of penne, not creamy. But it was the service that will prohibit us from returning. Iced tea arrived with no sweetener or straw. I asked but did not receive any until I waved down someone else. Waitress forgot my salad, didn't clear anyones plates and did not ask how our food was (nor did she deliver it). We had to ask for the check which is the only thing she did quickly. Decent food but unacceptable service. Pros: Chicken Nono Cons: Bad service in a cafeteria style restaurant more

worst restaurant experience 9/6/2006

This was the first time I left a restauant without leaving a tip. I too am a server at a restaurant and I value not just serving food to my customers/guests, but a positive experience. I know we all have off days, but unfortunatly my experience at Nono's was VERY VERY disappointing and the server didn't seem very apologetic. I was so looking forward to eating there because I've heard so much about the restaurant. We were seated quickly, but after we gave our server our order we never saw our server again till we complained to management. Someone else dropped off our food. No refills on drinks or bread from our server or another server/helper. We weren't sure about a side dish and the server knew that and never came back to follow up on it. I know when I'm busy as a server at a restaurant and I can't get to my table again I ask for help, even if it's the owner. While we were leaving management apologized and asked us to give them a second chance. I know the restaurant that I work at would have offered to comp something or offer a gift card to come make again. Nono's was a no no choice for me and my guest and I don't plan to give them a 2nd chance. Pros: location Cons: service more

All around, not so good 8/21/2006

My family went there for a birthday celebration, and the service was okay, we didn't get our food for 1 hour. 3 of my family members, including me, ordered the ribeye steak (all medium and cajun style). Every steak came to us very well done and mostly fat. Not to mention that none of them were cajun. They were the grilled style ribeye (also available on the menu). We nicely asked if the steaks were cajun. The server went to ask the cook and came back saying ""yes, they are definatley cajun"". Yikes! Did the cook lie? It was the worst steak I have ever had. I left more than half of it on my plate. The macaroni and cheese on the side, was simply penne pasta with a big chunk of cheddar cheese melted on top, turned into a brick of oily noodels. Is this truly how they do it in Louisiana? Nasty! more

Best Mac n Cheese anywhere 6/20/2006

Mom and pop shop with a lot of regulars. Busy, busy, busy call for reservations on the weekends and evenings. Ever changing menu that adds to the excitement. Mature staff and a grandma type decor makes for a casual but warm setting. Enjoy! Pros: Unique food made from the heart! Cons: Open atmosphere makes it a little loud at times. more

Cajun Cracker Barrel 5/18/2006

The interior of NoNo's is a little too kitschy to be classy. The atmosphere feels cluttered, like your grandma's sewing room. The wine selection is slim at best, and the bread is as white as it comes. The Crawfish Monica had good flavor, but was very oily. VERY oily. The Chicken NoNo was delicious, but again, dripping with oil. I lived in New Orleans, Louisiana and miss the cuisine, so I'm always looking for authentic NOLA-style spicing and flavor. NoNo's has it, but I'd like to see it with a little (make that a lot, in fact, a heck-of-a-lot) less oil. And I'd like to see it...with a different interior. Pros: spices and flavors Cons: way too much oil, slim wine selection, kitschy, cluttered more

The WORST Customer Service I have EVER had 3/28/2006

We didn't finish our meals and we BOTH asked for a box. The waitress came back with my leftovers and not my friends. My friend asked about hers. The waitress said she didn't hear my friend ask for a box and went to ask the manager what to do. When the bill came, the sandwich was still on the bill. The manager came over, we explained the situation. Well, he started Yelling at us that he was being fair and we didn't ask for the leftovers. We repeated that we asked for it. The waitress said she didn't hear us. Well, this is when he starting yelling louder at us...leaned over the table into my friends face and was literally yelling at the top of his lungs at her. Told us to get the H ell out of the restaurant and never come back. Pros: food variety Cons: Service, management, Service more
