Editorial review from Citysearch 8/3/2013

It seems nothing has changed by looking at the reviews over time. Several complaints about the same things. I guess they don't get that their customers should be valuable. I look at the reviews and had the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. Very poor service, yes the owners are rude. Even when it is their mistake, they don't apologize when you have had to have your order fixed for the third time. Or had to ask to 4 times for a refill on our drink because even when there are only 3 tables with people. We have learned you order your meal with you drinks or you will be there for a very long time if they get your order right the first time. If you have a choice to spend your money else where, I would. The food is inconsistent so you don't know if this time it will be good or not. The prices are high for the portions. Won't go back. more

Strongly recommend NoNo's Cafe! The staff was friendly and service was great!\r \r My husband is a native Louisianian and, though we've lived in the Denver Metro for over five years, he was greatly concerned about going to a Cajun resturaunt -- he thought ""as long as there's hope of a good Cajun resturaunt, I'm good."" He was so convinced he'd be disappointed... FAR FROM IT!\r \r He had the Blackened Catfish smothered with Monica sauce; I had the lemon dill grilled Salmon -- we also had the shrimp bisque (amazing!). All was traditional Cajun cookin and we absolutely loved it!\r \r Now we've reserved for the first three crawfish boils -- crawfish is flown in fresh on Saturday mornings for the boil that starts at 3PM (SHARP!). We can't WAIT! more

DONT GO HERE!!! 12/19/2011

Owner is terribly rude, cheap, and terrible to staff! A child is his manager. They use to give bread and now they charge.. Wine is an ounce pour and the beer menu sux! The only thing thi splace has going for it is that it will suck in the hotel patrons next door! more

DO NOT EAT HERE!! 10/7/2011

I frequent privately owned restaurants, the but the owner is rude and inconsiderate, as well as abusive towards his staff. \r He once had a sign up about excessive motorcyle noise, and he is the one that moved in next to a Harley Dealership! Do not know if he realizes that motorcycle enthusiasts spend money. \r Please spend your money somewhere else!!!\r more

Will be a long time before we return 6/20/2011

We went to Nono's for Father's Day and I should have known to just turn around and leave when I asked for our name to be put on the wait list and was told by the owner that I could have called and made a reservation rather than just showing up (my son had a baseball tournament so we were not able to make a reservation ahead of time because we would not know what time the games would be depending on win/loss). Anyway, I was told the wait was 45 minutes so I said fine. Well 45 minutes came and went. The frustrating thing is there were always at least 6-8 open tables inside and more on the patio. One would think that on Father's Day a restaurant would make sure to have enough servers. When we were finally seated the drink and food orders were taken pretty quickly so we figured it wouldn't be so bad. WRONG....we waited another 45 minutes to get our food (we only had 3 people at our table) as we watched multiple tables that were sat 20 minutes after us get their food. From the time we first arrived it took 3 hours to be sat, be seated and eat. We never had anyone come and tell us that there was a problem with the order or a sorry for taking so long. After we paid we got a ""Thanks for being patient"" from the owner. Nice. Anyway, we will not go back for quite some time. There are plenty of other restaurants that appreciate their customers and have wonderful service in the area that we can go to before we will go back to Nono's Cafe. more

Mediocre at best 5/8/2011

I took my family to this restaurant for Mother's Day. In short, the manager was rude , the waitress good but it took an hour from seating to being served our meals. Rest assured that when I am told we will call you, don't come back to check on a reservation, I will not be back. I give this one star only because there is no zero. more

always good! 4/27/2011

I have been to Nono's a few times and whether it was in a large group for mid-week lunch or a Saturday visit for brunch the people and food are the best! Even though I only had a blackened steak salad today it was very delicious The steak was full of flavor! I will be back to visit you Nono's Cafe more

BAD BAD BAD BAD Service 1/23/2010

Nono's Cafe needs to be wiped off the map. \r The wait staff was rude and acted put out that we were waiting to be seated. My husband unfolded his napkin and silverware to find a big black hair wrapped around his fork. They messed up our order and charged us full price. And to even more enhance our wonderful dining experience, My husband and two small children were sat next to a group of degenerates that had nasty foul language for the 45 min. we were there. The absolute WORST restaurant I have ever been to! I spoke to the owner and several of the other servers and received a simple ""we're so sorry."" If they really cared about keeping their customers they would have compensated the situation. If I could grade them negative 5 stars on here I would. Pros: patio seating Cons: terrible service, unsanitary and overpriced more

Worst experience in a long time!!! The food was fine a little heavy on the blackening spices and the service lead something to be desired (I had to ask for a second beer 3 times before the waitress remembered to bring it and she kept walking away without asking if we needed anything like water or silverware.\r \r The big problem came with the bill when the owner added a 2 dollar cover for each of us for the band. We asked to speak with him and he was very condesending saying I could make a decision ?Honey? that it was only 2 dollars. That was the point. We just spent over $200 dollars on dinner. A dinner that we could have gotten at any number of restaurants in Denver that wouldn?t have charged us a cover for the band even without buying dinner. The entire reason we went to dinner there was to see the band. I called that day to make a reservation and no mention of the cover was mentioned when I asked about the band. A cover without dinner yes, fine but to nickel and dime dinner guests is rediculus. They were already charging $4 Bud Lt.\r \r Don?t waste your time or money on their fake southern charm. They obviously don?t have a clue what lagniappe means. Pros: bussers Cons: owner more

Say NO to Nono's! Horrible food and service. 10/5/2008

We thought this would be a great place given the reviews, but our experience was horrible. We waited 10+ for the first person to come to our table and another 30 for our food to come. The food was horrible!! How can you mess up breakfast?? The manager blamed it on a ""slow"" Sunday...seriously?? more

NOT RECOMMENDED - BAD, BAD, SERVICE 9/24/2008

It seems that management doesn't read their reviews or even care because complaints have been issued for some time. I had breakfast there months ago and the service was bad. Tried again 9/24/08 and it was even worse. No one welcomed my wife and me, we were told that we could not have what we wanted because it would stress the small kitchen. Only 3 tables were occupied! Had to wait forever for food, coffee refills weren't offered, we had to ask, not one person asked if the meal was good or thanked us for coming. The trash from empty cream containers, used straws, used napkins etc. were placed at the edge of the table and never noticed, had to wait and finally askfor the bill. No thank you when we were leaving. This wait staff should be properyl trained and monitored to be friendly and courteous - or maybe the management should change! more

Authentic great Cajun 5/8/2008

I loved finding a Cajun restaurant with true Cajun food! Gumbo is terrific - very authentic, extra dark roux. Check out the crawfish boils - all you can eat and then some! Try the catfish poboy - great stuff! Oh, and it's nice finding guys from back home. Pros: great food and service more

Run, don't walk away! 4/6/2008

I was excited to find an ""unique"" restaurant where my family and I could go to for our traditional Sunday breakfast and that is near our home, then we ate there. We were treated like we were not wanted. To quote the host ""we do not want to overwhelm our kitchen, so it will be a 30 minute wait."" Mind you, there were several empty tables and what were they thinking staffing with inept help at Sunday brunch! This did not bode well, but we hung-in-there. We were eventually seated, but were lost in no-man's land where service was rare, which means only one cup of coffee for you. When we eventually got our order. My strawberry french toast was covered in sugar and barely a strawberry to be seen. My husband had something with country sausage gravy, but could not get sausage with his meal. Huh? My two-year-old son was tired of the 1.5 hour process and was ready to jump off the deck. Sadly, the view was the only thing good about the experience. No one gave us a bill, so I went to the front and stood there like an idiot until I could get someone's attention. Please go only if you have low expectations and high self esteem because this place is as welcoming as a rodent in your soup. more

Great! 3/29/2008

We had a great meal here! The service was wonderful as well. We met another couple here, and they were impressed also. We will all definitely be back. The view off of the west facing patio was beautiful! Pros: Good food! more

An Absolute NONO! 3/18/2008

MY Family and I went there for the first time, and had lunch .It took way to long to get a burger and a fish sandwich and mac and cheese, and when it got there the burger was raw, and I mean raw! My husband sent it back , so I shared my fish sandwich with him , which was ok but wasn't anything special. The mac and cheese looked like something that was scraped out of a pan that was sitting out for days. Yuck! So after sitting around again for my husbands other burger , we got tired of waiting and asked for the bill. Then the manager comes over and apologizes takes the burger off our bill , which I believe for the service and inconvienence of my husband not getting lunch they should not have of charged us period. We left and went home and made our own burgers(YUM) . Next time we want to go out for lunch it wont be there. more

Terrible Customer Service 3/16/2008

I ordered the pancake and scrambles eggs. Very simple to prepare. The eggs were cold. Apparently the eggs are prepared in advance and refrigerated until an order is requested. However, the cook? forgot to reheat them. Even the small plate they were served on was cold. The watress removed them, took an order for 4 from an adjoining table and finally took the cold eggs to the kitchen for heating. I finished my pancake before the reheated eggs arrived. I didn't have anything to eat with the eggs by then such as bread, toast, etc. I just left them on the plate. Requested the check and after watching her talk to the manager/owner, a $1.95 was removed from my bill. The manager/owner didn't come to apologize just glared at me as if it was my problem. He apparently didn't care if I ever returned. Terrible service. Pros: Atmosphere Cute Cons: Terrible Customer Service more

Great food Great Service 8/29/2007

When I read the online reviews I was hesitant about choosing Nono's cafe but so glad we did. We had a group of 23 for lunch on a Friday at 11:15. We arrived and were promptly seated. The food was excellent, the service was as well. We never had to wait for our drinks to be refilled or dirty dishes to be removed from the table. The desserts came highly recommended and did not disappoint...the bread pudding was so fabulous but the warm strawberry cake was also lucious. Glad we went and next time I am down that way I will stop in to try another entree. Can't wait!!! Pros: Excellent food Great Service Cons: Way down in Littleton more
