Houston's Greatest Greek! 1/19/2012

The line's out the door, 'cause the food's off the charts!! Just delicious Greek food. Gyro's, Chicken Kebabs, perfect Baklava. And it's unpretentious not like so many ""corporate"" chains. Love this place. Terrific atmosphere. Bustling. But really, it's all about the yummy food!!! And even good coffee. more

They have a chicken lemon soup worth dying for! more

Love the Food 3/22/2011

I love the food at Niko Nikos. There is no Greek food that comes close to it. They have gotten a little expensive in the last few months, but still hands down I spend it because they are really great food. I am addicted to the Athenian Pie it is wonderful! more

All this buzz over the most basic gyro ive tasted 9/4/2010

I was seriously excited to finally go to NIko Niko's. Ever since I moved to Houston Ive heard about this place but never had a chance to go. Yes its wonderful that the business has a cult following and is seeing success. Yes I love the funny greek drawings on the wall. Yes its always a good vibe to see a never ending line of people ordering food. Though when you finally stalk a table thats availabe, wait in line for ten minutes and finally get your food what you get is a really lame tasting gyro. Absolutely nothing special. I was really disapponted. We also ordered a chicken dish and salad. Nothing was particuarly yummy. The only thing I liked was their custard/pastery dessert. I will always try a place once. I wont be back again, Ill have to hunt down a Greek joint that is more flavorful... more

Gooey Jumbo Fried Shrimp! 6/10/2010

They have either changed vendors for their jumbo breaded shrimp or their recipe. I used to enjoy their lightly breaded shrimp. Today's batch was the size of a chicken leg! When you bite into the huge shrimp, you quickly learn that it's all breading. My shrimp wasn't cooked long enough because the breading inside was gooey. I was really disappointed. The salad was the best part of my lunch. Even the french fries were off today. Pros: Gyros still good Cons: 3 times more breading than shrimp more

Yummy Greek !! 2/15/2010

They say you always remember your first; this was love at first bite for me! Many years ago I was introduced to gyros at some random festival; it was there I instantly grew a passion for Greek food. Then I was taken to a place called Niko Niko's, a Houston favorite which as my stars suggest is an A+ place for great Greek eats. My favorite dish has to be the Hercules, try it on your next visit and you will see why. Caution, you might moan more than that Valentines night you spent with your........ Happy eating! Pros: Everything including the fries ! Cons: Gets packed... more

not worth it 1/24/2010

I paid $10.95 for a Gyro....couple of pieces of dry meat, tomato slices and pita bread with a heap of overdone fries that I had to find my food in. Pros: big portions Cons: price more

Don't be a freak, try the Greek! 12/7/2009

I love Niko Nikos. I spend every birthday there. It is absolutely my favorite Houston dining experience. First of all, the appetizers. I always order the hummus, it is some of the best I have ever tasted. The second must order is a Greek salad, the salads are the perfect size with delicious Feta cheese and great Greek salad dressing. The entree that I always order is what I believe to be called the Hercules plate. This plate is a combination with chicken, lamb, and beef. All three of which are delicious. Conan like meat!!!!! It also comes with your choice of a side, mostly potato sides. The french fries are great, but I love the oven potatoes. You must save room for dessert. The entrees are gigantic, so take some home, the dessert is a must. I have tried almost every dessert and have not been disappointed once. I also always order the iced chai tea, I know it sounds strange for a Greek restaurant to have Chai tea, but it is fantastic!! Conan strongly recommend Niko Nikos!!!!!!!!!! Pros: Portion size, delicious heaping piles of meat, EVERYTHING! Cons: Absolutely nothing... more

Good! 11/28/2009

I had the Lamb Kabab(sp?) and it was just delicious! I was worrying about the smell of the lamb (that kind of heavy, almost fishy smell), but, don't worry at all! It was just delicious! the vagie came with it was natually sweet and felightful, even the onions was a little burned. The potato was good with a special undescribable taste and the pita was just great! the texture was just perfect. and moreover, the sause (the cucumber one) was just good, refeshing. Gyro texture was not dry but not melting like it was raw. The dressing was nice and light, not greasy. Gyro taste was just right, not too heavy like other places. The taste made sure you will be able to eat the whole thing without feel bad on your tounge. Salad was just excellent! They even put a REAL big piece of feta cheese! (according to my friend whom have been to Greece) Unbelievable! Come hungry, and you will be sure to be full! The only thing is that, you gotta come early, so you will have a seat! I went there around 6pm, and it was almost filled up! Me and my company struggled to find a seat! Just great place! We will definitly go there next time! Pros: Food protion, price, taste... Cons: parking more

Good Food, Great Location, Gouged Prices 10/31/2009

The absolute best thing at Niko Niko's are the oven potatoes. How good can you get? Sprinkle some more of the seasoning over them, extra seasoning is in parmesan cheese shakers on the tables, and we are talkin.' Pros: Oven Potatoes, Location Cons: Prices, Parking, Serveware more

Worth the wait 10/19/2009

After two visits, I come to the same results about this cafe. The appearance is simple but the challenge is locating a parking spot. For example, my trip during the work week at lunchtime required a drive around the cafe until a parking spot became available and my weekend trip was easy as long don't drive a large vehicle. Once inside, you stand in the a line to place your order, pay your, receive your pager and then seat yourself. When your pager goes off, you go pickup your order and enjoy. The food was excellent, for it meet my expectation of what Greek food taste like, and the price was idea. I recommend the Greek plate called Hercules or the Gyro plate. Pros: The food taste and portion size Cons: The parking lot and order line more

Just okay 7/20/2009

Everything was just okay to me. I didn't really love it. It has gotten a lot of good reviews but I just didn't really like it. I had the greek salad and didn't like it very well. It came with a brick of cheese on top instead of crumbles, which I didn't really like. Pros: service more

Pretty Good 6/3/2009

We have always enjoyed the food and the service, however the plastic forks always break, you would think they would upgrade to something a little more sturdy considering the prices they charge. I will recommend to atleast eat here once. Pros: Friendliness Cons: Plastic Ware is too cheap. more

Going downhill 5/11/2009

I've been eating here for years and the prices are high while the quality of the food is steadily declining, Gyros are greasy, portions are shrinking, fried food tastes like burnt oil, and to top it off half the time the counter staff is rude. The parking lot expansion was nice, but everything else is getting worse. I also agree with the previous poster about the absolutely MONUMENTAL amount of trash they create with absolutely no efforts to conserve or recycle. Very environmentally unconscious. Pros: Patio, desserts, very clean Cons: Food is expensive, greasy, rude staff more

Treasure with alot of TRASH!! 4/23/2009

I just recently dined at Nikos Nikos for the first time and the food was delish, service was great and I defo look forward to returning however in this day and age how can such a popular restaurant get away with serving EVERYTHING in disposable containers?! Pros: Quick counter service, nice patio Cons: Disposable EVERYTHING!! more
