Review for the restaurant at 2520 Montrose

rock on! 5/12/2004

dude, drop your pretensions and get in line for a styro-plate o' food, heaven-sent from olympia. gawk the bidness types, students, piercees, techies and generally innured, to discover a truly urban fast food restaurant. try the lamb shank. nice to see an independent restaurant succeeding in the increasingly chained (cabo, berryhill, katz's) montrose district. niko's has proven fun and delicious, no matter what strada of friend/clientele i've taken. landmark. Pros: food, cheap, people watching Cons: , plastic forks more

Always a favorite 4/1/2004

I love this restaurant. I have been going for years...and it's always a pleasure. Sure, there's a long line, but I'm happy for the restaurant's success. If you haven't been and you love greek food....you must experience Niko Niko's! Pros: food, inexpensive Cons: , long lines, wait for food more

Niko's 7/23/2003

I think Nikos is a great place. The wait in line was a bit long but well worth it. I tried their fries and they were great but I think the baked potatoes may be better so I will try them next. I highly recommend Nikos to anyone trying Greek food for the first time. The prices are very reasonable and if you go try the combination platters they are great. I dont know about you but I love Dr. Pepper but most places that have it as a fountain drink always get the mix wrong and this place had it perfect. Pros: inexpensive Cons: crowded more

Wonderful fast-food, Greek style 7/22/2003

Although I rarely choose to dine-in at Niko Niko's, I often call in take-out orders. My family loves the dolmathes plates (with a side-order of fabulous fries), and the gyros are first-rate, too. Portions are generous; prices are reasonable for dinner; service is friendly, if abrupt. Parking can be a pain, however, and I avoid their house wines (again, take-out is the way to go here), but overall, Niko Niko's offers some of the most reliable Greek food inside the loop. Pros: Huge portions, Excellent food, Reasonable prices Cons: Limited parking, No ambience, Long lines more

Worth Trying Once 7/19/2003

Try it once. The atmosphere was friendly, but the food was average. The portions were decent. You won't leave hungry. I'd recommend getting their salad. If you've never had Greek food, you won't fall in love with it by trying it here. There are better places in Houston around the same price. It's more ""fast food"" (though it took 45 minutes for our food on Friday night) than fine, tasty food. Do order out! Your food will be ready faster, and you won't have to sit in the warm restaurant. One other thing: the fries aren't that great. Go for the rice. Pros: Friendly, Decent price, Casual Cons: Crowded, Warm more

Great food, great value 7/10/2003

I love Niko Niko's! The food is great and cheap, but good luck finding somewhere to sit and park. Pros: cheap, authentic Greek food, delicious Cons: parking, crowded, seating more

Gyro Heaven 5/13/2003

If you are looking for tasty Greek food, this is the place to go. The food is very good, prepared fresh, and is hard to beat. Its a little light on the formal dinning space, you seat yourself. I can't think of a place where I would rather go for some awesome Greek food. The gyros are pure heaven as are their desserts. Pros: inexpensive, prepared fresh, very tasty Cons: can be very busy more

I likea da sauce 4/29/2003

I'm getting hungry just thinking about Nikos. Best greek in town, killer fries, excellent fried shrimp. They are great at what they do. Not to mention, tons of awards for cleanliness from M. Zindler. Best bet: Take home a menu and call it in for pickup Pros: Excellent food, cheap prices, clean Cons: crowded more

good gyros 1/30/2003

This place is probably the best in town for gyros.. Although I must admit there isn't much of a choice for Greek food in Houston anyways. Its very packed and parking is hard to find though. Be prepared to wait in line for about 10-20 mins before you order. The fries are good! Pros: great gyros, fresh fries Cons: crowded, hard parking more

Best In The City - By Far 1/11/2003

Niko Niko's is unbelievable. I am a big fan of gyros and have not found anything close in Houston to the ones at Niko Niko's. Combo platters are almost too much to eat and the prices are pretty reasonable. Only downside is this place gets packed at any time of the day. So, if you don't mind waiting for a parking spot or to sit, you'll love it. The food is definitely worth it! Pros: Greek Food, Price, Location Cons: Parking, Limited Seating more

WOO HOO 12/19/2002

Having few places for a GOOD Gyro, I am in love with Niko Niko's. Husband introduced me, I'll never be any closer to pure pleasure when it comes to food... my fave. Pros: Gyros, Tsadziki Cons: parking is crazy more

amazing food 12/15/2002

Niko Niko's has the only food that brightens my mood. Even if I feel under the weather, something about the Combination number 1 and french fries makes everything 'all good'. Pros: food more

Real Fries! 12/15/2002

Niko Niko's is one of the few restaurants still cutting their own fries from fresh potatoes. No frozen or factory spuds here, baby...and this makes this place even EXTRA great. Try the Souvlaki plate with tazaki sauce, dolmades (stuffed grape leaves), warm pita bread and mounds of those real fresh fries. They are the BEST in the city. Pros: great food Cons: bad parking, not enough seating more

wow! 11/20/2002

the food is awesome! price is very fair also. the only thing i dont like is the parking, which is pretty much non-existent unless i am missing something. Pros: food, price Cons: parking more

The best meal you'll ever have. 11/7/2002

I went there about 10 times last month! This place is GREAT!!! more

Hip funky Greek! 10/25/2002

Hip urbanites ""in the know"" and ""Inside the Loop"" know Niko Niko's for GREAT cheap Greek food. Flavorful food prepared FAST in a CLEAN kitchen -- a perpetual Marvin Zindler clean kitchen winner year after year. Friendly staff and fast kitchen help. To the scrubbed, mini-van drivin' suburbanites: BEWARE -- the exterior will scare you, but the kitchen is as clean as your anti-bacterialized little poo-poo in the rear child seat. Continuous stream of colorful Montrosian characters line up for the great tastes of Niko Niko's -- if you get scared, get it TO GO (back to Sugar Land). Pros: Great Food, Fast Service, Funky ambiance more

I LOVE THIS PLACE 9/27/2002

If you have seen the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding and the Dancing Zoras, you will feel right at home in this restaraunt. Great Greek Food, very happy, up-beat place. Take some friends and have a good time! Pros: food, atmosphere Cons: wait in line to order more

Best Greek (& Fries) 9/25/2002

Several plates come with a choice of fries or roasted potatoes. At any other eatery, either one is usually ""plate filler."" But you'd better think, and think hard about which version of spud you want. Both are great. The fries are *real* potatoes - cut in strips with the skin left on. The staff are very kind, always happy to see you. There's no reason to eat Greek food anywhere else in Houston. more

Eating with family 9/3/2002

Niko Niko's is wonderful for making you feel like you've come home to enjoy a meal. Food is great and prices reasonable. Definitely a must if you enjoy Greek. Come enjoy a home cooked meal. Pros: Friendly staff, wonderful food Cons: crowded, limited parking more

the very best ever 8/30/2002

I have been going to NikoNiko's for a very long time and have never once been disappointed. My kids love their food also, their bread and their babaganoush (spelling) are the best around... the secret must be in the sauce... it is incredible. Pros: great food, great price, fast service Cons: limited parking, need one in Bellaire, too warm inside more
