Wonderful Experience 9/29/2011

Had an amazing time. Our server was absolutely awesome, very attentive and on the ball. The drinks that came out were very tasty (among them were the blood orange Jalapeno margarita), many props to the bartender as well. The atmosphere is cozy and very comfortable, which makes this restaurant very easy to be at. more

NAVA ROCKS!! 8/18/2011

Nava is back! The pan seared scallops over smoked tomato grits and a saffron tostada are out of this world. We sat outside on the patio and had the tastiest margaritas in town. They have a flamenco band on Wednesdays. Blood Orange Jalapeno Margaritas and well priced wine menu offers like $8 Malbec pair well with the freshest ceviche in Atlanta hands down. It's not even close. This place offers the absolute best in hospitality. From the front door to the bartenders (who mix guava mojitos among other delights) to the best service staff this side of the Ritz, they aim to please it shows. A renaissance is afoot. NAVA IS THE PLACE TO BE!!!!!!! more

Amazing food, amazing service 8/6/2010

My husband and I LOVE making the trip from ""all the way out in Gwinnett"" to Nava's. We have been many times, and the service and food are always top notch. We've tried most everything on the menu; appetizers, salads, entrees, desserts, and even specials(which I am often suspicious of), and have never a bad experience. And the prickly pear margaritas... OMG. You have GOT to try one!!! We've dined at several ""upscale"" restaurants in Buckhead, and Nava's is BY FAR our favorite!! It's a can't miss!! more

quality service 7/14/2010

The food was not really outstanding but it was good. It’s the type of food that I usually get at any other restaurants. The extra-ordinary thing about this place is the quality of service they offer. It was indeed so special and each guest receives the same type of treatment. more

Nava - Inconsistent performance 9/21/2009

We, the four of us, had dinner at Nava. The experience can be barely qualified as average and we rated it as inconsistent. To the side of very good entrees, such as Pan-Roasted Loch Duart Salmon, we were served a Tequila Lime Ceviche, which was simply not eatable and we had to send it back to the kitchen. I ordered a medium Filet Mignon “Trio”, which was served cold. From the three-piece served (each of 3 ounces) two were cold and well done, and one was perfect, exactly the way was ordered. The manager arrived after the Ceviche episode, with the main entrée, and without enquiring what was going on he just made a statement if everything was OK. He never returned to enquire about the $27.50 Filet Mignon.\r Finally, the two deserts selected, house ice cream and banana crepes were tremendous.\r Pros: Great deserts Cons: Inconsistent kitchen more

Lost its touch 8/1/2009

My husband and I started dating with Nava as a frequent backdrop, so it was a really special place to us 13 years ago. For a recent lunch we ordered the special flank steak quesadilla app after the suggestion of our waiter. It was horribly average and ordinary. I ordered the chicken salad with blue cheese dressing as my entree and the dressing was a gross oil mixture with bits of blue cheese on the bottom. It was BAD! I asked if they had a creamy dressing and was told they did not.. so I was going to eat my salad dry. I took a bite of the chicken and it tasted like it had been dredged through a blacked salt mixture and it was really bad. I sent it back and I never send food back. I didn't want another. My husbands side order of grits were just not that great either. The manager didn't stop by after the waiter had him take it the salad off of our check.. And then we both had to pay $8 for parking in the garage. They must not still have the original chef. There is NOO way. It use to be soo good there. That was my last visit and I'll just have to keep the memories of better days. Try Taqueria Del Sol on Cheshire Bridge for truely great Ameri/Mex food. Pros: no wait..people are eating elsewhere for lunch Cons: just not as great as it once was more

Think before you leap 7/5/2009

Outdoor drinks and bar staff were awesome. But how do you kick SW food up enough notches for it to justify costing $100+ for two people? You dont. Lobster taco was a mushy burrito....dont expect to see a succulant tail!! Sent back one small item after one bite and the server told us we had to pay for it anyway regardless if we liked it or not. After that we stopped ordering and got out ASAP. But the bill was still mucho $$$$. Stop by have a drink outside then head to some decent Mex food in the city. This place is WAY over rated. Beware. Pros: Outdoor margarita Cons: Inside food more

Prickly Pear Margaritas! 4/10/2009

It's been such a long time since I've truly enjoyed all aspects of dining out. I went to Nava to celebrate my birthday and had the best time. The Pear Margaritas were amazing! Never thought I would enjoy grits either but I would highly recommend the smoked tomato grits.\r Patrick, our server was awesome too! Great personality and very knowledgeable about the menu and had great recommendations. \r One of the better Buckhead restaurants that I would visit again soon. Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

Pretty place but food was surprisingly not all that 10/25/2008

I have driven by and the seen the bold and beautiful ""Nava"" logo many times on Paces Ferry Road. This restaurant looked so appealing -especially after having seen it on the BHL website and after reading their menu. My husband and I wanted to celebrate my birthday, so we'd thought we try Nava. Their fixed price menu offerings actually sounded quite appealing. When we arrived on a Sunday evening, we were a little surprised to see it so empty. It was pretty near peak evening hours and BHL was having their special $29 three course menu, so we expected more folks to show up. The interior is, in my opinion, quite lovely. We ordered two slightly pricy but tasty cocktails and gave the waiter our order. Some rolls and cornbread sticks that were kind of bluish in color were brought out (from the cornmeal, I guess). They were moist enough but only okay tasting , and I have to admit that I've had better bread and cornbread elsewhere (for starters my mother could make much more delicious cornbread). I ordered a dish consisting of ""organic"" chicken breast and some kind of spicy mac and cheese. It also came with a salad. My husband had the salmon and he opted for the appetizer trio instead of the salad. I must say that I wasn't overly impressed with anything except for the dessert which was a banana enchilada. My husband had the berry tart which he didn't care for at all and we ending up taking that home and not eating any of it. While my chicken breast was juicy and tender, I just did not care for the way it or my mac and cheese were seasoned, and I'm usually a very open-minded individual. I really didn't like the salad at all or my husband's appetizers for that matter. My husband did enjoy his salmon pretty well but he wasn't overly impressed by it. The service that we get at BHL locations is usually pretty snotty at times, but because we were apparently his only table on this night, our server was rather attentive. Pros: Beautiful place with a patio for outside dining if weather permits Cons: food is lacking more

Best salmon of my life! 10/1/2008

We had a great time at Nava last night! The wait was long (45 minutes for two people), so we ordered a couple of the prickly pear margaritas at the outdoor bar. They were quite good, not too sweet, and just the right zing! We definitely indulged and ordered two appetizers: the fritters and the salmon which were both superb. If I had to pick, I'd probably pick the salmon! \r \r We ordered and shared two entrees as well. They were out of the tuna (which was a bit disappointing) but forced us to order the Red chili-seared salmon, which was honestly the best salmon I have ever had. I never expect much from salmon anymore, but the flavor combinations and surprises in this dish simply got better and better as you finished the dish. I could eat it every day for the rest of my life! We also got the filet trio, which was good, but NOTHING compared to the salmon. The charring on the steak was delicious, but it was slightly more done than I prefer a steak to be. \r \r We didn't have room for dessert, but between the margaritas, the wine, the appetizers and amazing salmon we left beyond satisfied! Pros: The best salmon of your life! Cons: We weren't asked how we wanted our filets cooked and they were slightly over done. more

A little pricey for southwestern but a great dining experience 3/22/2008

There are restaurants in Atlanta that I will always frequent- Chops, Atlanta Fish Market, MF Sushi. This is a great addition to the Buckhead Life Group, but for me, it was moreso a great place to ""try out"" but will probably not be my first choice for future dining experiences. I did not have reservations on a Friday night but was seated within 10 minutes by friendly (but busy) waitstaff. Our waiter was attentive, knowledgeable, and pleasant. My dining companion and I ordered the cheese fritters for an appetizer and they were awesome. The Red Snapper w grits entree was also spicy (but not too spicy), but IMO Two Urban Licks has better grits; the texture of these was a bit pasty. My recommendation is to dine on the patio if the weather is nice; there are heaters by each table and the view of Peachtree and ambience make will make for an even better dining experience. The decor inside is lovely, but seating seemed to be too close together as wall as maze-like. The GM also stopped by our table to make sure everything was going well, which is always a plus. I may go back here again, and I'm glad I tried something new. My suggestion would be to visit on a nice night if you want to try something a little different and experience new flavors. The most appealing entrees start at about $23. Pros: waitstaff; valet, awesome patio dining Cons: a bit pricey for what you get more

Poor Customer Service 2/14/2008

I made a Valentine's Day reservation 3 weeks in advance. They called me February 14, 3 hours before my reservation to confirm and inform me that there was a $75 per person preset menu. When I told Mercedes, the manager, I wanted to cancel due to the fact we were unaware of that and did not want to pay that much she copped an attitude and told me she would cancel it this time! She said I won't charge you this time but I am sure you knew about the menu. She was incredibly RUDE!!! Cons: Horrible customer service! more

Always A Great Experience 8/30/2007

I have never been disappointed at Nava. The service is always wonderful, and I love trying whatever specials they are having, or whatever else they recommend. I feel comfortable taking picky guests, and I have yet to sit there going hungry or thirsty waiting for a tasty treat! Pros: Service, Food Cons: No free chips/salsa more

Full Southwestern Experience 8/7/2007

After hearing great things about Nava since my arrival in Buckhead this summer, I decided to try it out for myself on a Sunday night several weeks ago. Without a doubt, Nava exceeded my expectations. After making reservations earlier that day, my party and I were seated immediately upon arrival, though we were several minutes early. We found ourselves at a cozy little table and were immediately greeted by a member of the wait staff. After he had suggested a few appetizers and drinks we might like to try, we ordered a round of margaritas and two or three appetizers. I was blown away. All the appetizers were full of wonderful flavors and great for sharing, with the Sonoma Jack Cheese Fritters being the favorite of the group. Not one for spicy food, I was a little hesitant in choosing an entree. However, aftetr being assured that I would be pleased with my decision, I settled on the salmon. After the first bite, I knew I had made a great selection. Already full from the appetizers, I couldn't resist finishing almost the entire portion. I must say, Buckhead Life Restauarant Group made the right decision when they brought Chef Jesse Perez to Nava. The food was impeccable, all the way around. I couldn't have asked for a better experience, and I will be sure to return, bringing more friends in tote. Pros: Great food, ambience and service Cons: none that I can think of more

Nava with a change in management? 7/19/2007

I had a condo a a quarter mile from Nava for six years and just moved to Brookhaven. Needless to say, I've been to Nava several times. 8:30 PM reservations, showed at 8:10 PM to check in and request a patio seating. Went to the outside bar. The Prickley Pear Margarita was always their ""specialty"" drink. Tonight, it was awful - bitter, would have rather drank a simple Grey Goose martini. The bartender said they had a change in suppliers and were trying a different formula. Bottom line, take it off the menu. At 8:45 PM, I asked why we hadn't been seated. The hostess said she couldn't find us although she had my cell # with my reservation. She started to seat us inside, I reminded her of outside seating, and she said ""25 minutes"", then - ""we don't have servers outside"". Hmmm. After a ""one-way conversation"" we were shown a table in the primary walkway. Quick note: we (my girlfriend and I) are Atlanta foodies and enjoy the dining options we have here. Table was not acceptable and was switched. Back to food: we asked the server his recommendation on three appetizers and chose one. He put the order for two of them. Corrected him. A couple in town from NYC sat next to us and wanted to try the Prickley Pear - we chimed in and they ordered nice martinis. The entrees were what we expected; the server seemed to be very new and didn't listen well to our request to have our bottle of wine breathe as we finished our ""non-margaritas"". Talked to a ""suit"" (aka Manager) and he had a different story about the changes being from ""corporate"". Bottom line, check any reviews after ours to see if there has been a change in management, changing in the guards, etc. My girlfriend and I felt that Nava did not live up to the reputation that we had known it for in the past. We'll come back; but not in the near future - especially if we see more reviews like this one. I wish we would have gone next door to Season's 52 on this occasion. Pros: New entrees, although there were no specials tonight Cons: Known specialty drinks, hostess, server's knowledge, not being the ""same"" Nava more

A weak link in the Buckead Life chain 7/18/2007

My buddy and I went to Nava last night for the first time. We sat at the bar. Directly at the front entrance of the bar, next to my seat, there is situated a large air conditioner. Why it is located there - I have no idea. There is no question that this restaurant has an ideal location, and a beautiful outside patio. Unfortunately, our experience was VERY disappointing. Two young women were bartending, neither one of which was in any hurry to take our drink order. When one did come over, she left literally in the middle of the drink order to take care of another customer. I ordered the chicken breast, which was not bad. My friend ordered eye of the round steak, and was extremely unimpressed.\r \r Unfortunately, this restaurant is off our list and we will not be back. Pros: Nicely decorated, nice patio, great location Cons: Horrible bar service, unimpressive food more

Not impressed 5/21/2007

I went to Nava after hearing rave reviews but left unimpressed. The food was just ok - the prices were way too high for the quality. If you do not like spicy foods, do not go here. All the food at Nava has a bit of a ""kick"" to it. The service was just ok as well. I'm not sure if our server was having a bad night but he had the personality of a door stop. I will not be back. Pros: Location, Ambience Cons: Food quality, price more

Creative & Delicious 4/19/2007

We loved the atmosphere, the service and best of all the creative and inspiring cuisine. I never thought Southwestern could have such an upscale taste and appearance. more

Prickly Pear Margarita's & Deluxe Southwestern Fare! Ralph Lauren Chic Interior! 2/14/2007

If you've ever visited the Ralph Lauren store at Lenox Square, and seen his two display interior rooms, you know what we mean by Ralph Lauren Western Chic! Walk into Nava, and you will experience it with deluxe Southwestern fare. We started at the bar, and climbed onto pony covered barstool's with leather straps. Upon the very nice bartenders recommendation, we started with the signature Prickly Pear Margarita's. A couple of those, and we were ready to mount Trigger! In fact, instead of dining at a table, we ordered at the bar, and had a wonderful time. It's February, cold outside, and we just liked the intimate feel. Starting with Jack Cheese Fritter's and Homemade Guac. Not as good as Rosa's, but a close second. Lobster Taco's next, and that sweet meat was so delightful. Grilled Ancho Chilie Shrimp, just showcases Buckhead Life Group's great Seafood. Service was excellent, and looking forward to getting on that outdoor patio, in warm weather.\r Pros: Deluxe Southwestern Fare, Margarita's & Service! Cons: Pricy, but It's Buckhead! more

Outstanding vegetarian dish 1/3/2007

As a vegetarian, many of the Buckhead restaurants present limited options. Instead of the usual blah portabello burger or boring side salad, NAVA offered the most amazing veggie dish. The Vegetable Platter offered up such varied items as Flame Grilled Asparagus, Smoked Tomato Grits, Chopped Salad with Tortilla Strips, and an Exotic Mushroom and Sweet Corn Tamale with Truffle Oil. This is one meat-centric restaurant I won't object to visiting again! The platter was on the cheaper end of the menu, at around $15, so this is also a good option for omnivores who may want to watch their spending at this pricier restaurant. Thanks to Chef Jesse Perez for providing me with the list of items! more
