Food: no complaints. The scallops were delicious, steak with frites satisfying, cinnamon creme brulee rich and creamy (if a tad over brulee-ed). But the service at this restaurant, especially considering how hard it is to get into and how loud the buzz is, is truly awful. We sat for 10 minutes before our waiter took our cocktail order (and we had to prompt him). Then the wine we ordered, they didn't have. Although the wine director was very apologetic and made some great alternate recommendations, including a Chateau Lascombes by the 1/2 bottle which was delicious, when I asked for the list again because one of our friends wanted to switch from Bordeaux to California cabernet, we never saw him again. It was as if we'd offended him by not ooo-ing and ah-ing enough over the Lascombe. The wait staff hangs out by the open kitchen talking and laughing ... how nice for them! This, with a host of other mess ups, is, well let's just say a disinsentive to ever going through the effort I had to go to, just to get a reservation -- and a 5:30 pm one at that.
