Best

We absolutely love Mizuna. My wife and I are huge foodies and every time we go to Mizuna we are blown away. Call us creatures of habit, but everytime we go we get the same thing...

Worst

We were excited to dine at Mizuna after reading and hearing so very much about it., but sadly disappointed at the flavor and preparation of the food. The abalone appetizer was jus...

best lobster mac and cheese EVER 11/21/2006

i thought that this restaurant was simply delicious. the lobster mac and cheese is to die for, and my boyfriend ordered the lamb, which was phenomenal. the service was excellent, and the valet dudes were very cool and friendly. i am a fan of the open kitchen, and this place provides an excellent setting in which to enjoy the delicious menu. more

Great atmosphere and food 10/20/2006

We love to eat out and this is our favorite! Fantastic food. Fantastic service. Even the valet guys were cool. We sat at the bar last night (we didn't have a res) and the bar tender Kathy took very good care of us. more

Quiet, Romantic and great service 10/2/2006

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday last weekend... simply put - it was absolutely wonderful! The restaurant itself had a very quaint, quiet & romantic atmosphere. I recommend making reservations... & when I did the woman I spoke with was very nice & accomodating. Basically - the service over the phone & at the restaurant was very professional but not at all pretentious. Our waiter was very helpful, good humored & knowledgeable about the menu & the wine that we chose. I loved the idea of a different menu every month; the menu from last month was really good, in a way it made it hard to pick what to order (but please don't let that deter you from trying this place). In the end I ordered the duck, he ordered the halibut & we shared a super yummy caramel bread pudding. This a great place to go if you want to have a nice romantic & quiet dinner. Enjoy! more

Rich and Delicious 9/20/2006

The entire experience was amazing, it's perfect for a romantic dinner or a quiet evening with friends. Although your meal will come at a price, the taste of each dish is heavenly. Pros: Attentive Staff, Amazing Food Cons: Cost more

Great place for a romantic dinner 7/27/2006

Top restaurant in Denver 7/25/2006

This is hands down the best restaurant in Denver. Mizuna is always listed at the top in various critics reviews. We would return here before going back to other top rated restaurants such as Frasca. Superb service, a small intimate dining room, and of course, the food make for an excellent evening out. We're fans of all Frank's restaurants...be sure to give Luca a try too. more

Stellar Service, Great Food 4/10/2006

My husband went here recently for the first time to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. We went early, sat at the bar for wine and the lobster mac and cheese (rich and delicious). The service is hard to beat - after taking a while to notice I needed a second glass of wine (I didn't mind) the bartender offered my second glass for free. As we dined, everyone from the bus boy to the entire wait staff was busy at work folding napkins, filling water glasses - service can be described as attentive but totally unobtrusive. Husband had the lamb (v. good), I had the tenderloin (it comes with BACON SAUCE, people!!!) which was fantastic. Only thing to complain about was we didn't get a very good table, but oh well. We'll definitely return. Pros: service, food, free valet Cons: in early 30s, we, were the youngest more

Great food but overpriced 1/9/2006

The food is no doubt exceptional, creative and delicious. But $9 for a small garden salad, $11 for a roasted beet salad, $9 for a bowl of soup is excessive. I think the entrees are fairly priced but the smaller dishes made me feel a little ripped off. more

Other Denver Restaurants Should Take Note 11/18/2005

Arrived for a dinner and started at the bar. The bar provides a great look into the kitchen, where we could see the staff taking obvious care and pride in each dish. The dinner started with appetizers of lobster macaroni and hazelnut soup. I'm not sure the lobster macaroni is as glorious as others have stated, but it was definitely worth the money and calories. The hazelnut soup was an interesting flavor combination that worked rather nicely. The main courses were absolutely superb - the duck dish in particular was spectacular. As a transplanted Denverite from Chicago, I believe this restaurant would hold its own anywhere. I wish other ""high end"" places in this town would take a lesson from Mizuna about what level of quality it takes to charge $30-$40 an entree. We will definitely be back! Pros: Quality, Service, Parking more

Good but overrated 5/27/2005

We had the unusual experience of eating here twice in 3 weeks. Some dishes (fish, scallops) are fabulous, but others (meat) was only average. Likewise we found service to be spotty. The portions are generous, the presentation creative and the fresh ingredients excellent. There are limited wines by the glass making it more difficult to accommodate different entree choices. The back room is very pleasant, but the main room can be crowdedand noisy with columns at your elbow . For the price, you can get better. Pros: Generally tasty Cons: Pricy - overly more

Elegant dining at Mizuna. 3/28/2005

The dining room is warm and inviting at Mizuna. We were seated promptly and quickly greeted by our friendly server. We started with two appetizers: the very tasty pappardelle with rabbit saddle and the flavorful escargot and gnocci. The wine list is pricey here only a handful of choice under $40. We settled on the Pomerol for $45. There was a lengthy wait between our appetizers and our main course but the bread basket kept us occupied. We then had the maple & walnut crusted venison loin served with blue cheese bread pudding and the roasted lamb loin. Both were very good. We were too full to try dessert from all the bread we ate. The free valet parking was a nice touch. Pros: Elegant , Inventive Dishes, Valet Parking Cons: Pricey Wines, Wait between courses more

Anniversary dinner 12/12/2004

Mizuna for our 10th anniversary-- perfect! The food was sublime, and I think the T.K.'s macaroni & cheese may be the best thing I've ever eaten. Plus, the service is easily the best in town. No bobbing, ducking, weaving out of the way. Tradition holds sway here: service from the right, clearing & drinks from the left. Our water glasses were never empty and we never had to pour our own wine. The excellent food is enhanced by the fantastic service. Pros: great eats, perfect service, worth the money Cons: , cramped space, cold breeze sometimes more

the best in town 12/8/2004

the four times we have eaten at this restaurant have been the best overall dining experiences we have had in denver. the food was wonderfully executed and interesting. the service was superb. overall, the place rocks. Pros: food quality, cuisine diversity, wine list more

""made my mouth sing"" 6/26/2004

The food and service was so unbelievable, that I am willing to overlook the cafeteria seating and bland decor. Highly recommend the Mizuna's version of Oysters Rockefeller, bib or shrimp salad, halibut, and hazelnut pound cake--all were incredible. Pros: inexpensive, delicious, service Cons: , seating more

Delicious! 5/28/2003

The food was amazing! Wonderful flavors and gorgeous presentation. The service is perfection without being pretentious. The dining room is a little cramped (be prepared to sit very close to strangers) but well worth the food. Pros: Food, service Cons: close seating more

Consistent 1/13/2003

Venturing to Denver regularly, always looking for a great restaurant, we have found a number over the years including Papillon, Aubergine, and on occasion Le Central. Our second visit to Mizuna did not disappoint. The sevice remains attentive and unobtrusive, the food is not only innovative, but also actually works, and the overall experience is worth the expense. It easily equals or exceeds many of the top restaurants in New York. more

Special occasion 12/5/2002

Special birthday dinner... 9/2/2002

I am a local pastry chef dating a chef de cuisine, so we often cook at home. For special occasions, however, we very much appreciate discovering and enjoying the best Denver-area restaurants we can find. Mizuna is tops on our list. We celebrated my birthday there last week and everything was superb. The sauce reductions were incredibly flavorful (one with duck, the other for tenderloin)...we savored every bite. Our starter of crab cakes was delicious because of the quality of the crab but also the basil oil drizzled around the remoulade sauce. Amazing! Our waiter, Paul, offered efficient and discreet service. When I mentioned that I was a bit cold, the owner/manager turned the air down immediately. Excellent food and service all around! Frank: you and your kitchen staff are simply wonderful. We know what it's like to attempt such a delivery (of food and service) and you do it! more

Best Service, EVER! 8/4/2002

We're never rushed, or intruded upon. I think the servers at Mizuna can read minds! They are there at exactly the moment you need them and not when you don't. Water glasses are always full. Silverware is replaced thoughout the meal as you need it. At Mizuna, you are actually allowed to enjoy and savor your meal. If you or your dinner companion finishes first, the dinner plates are not cleared until everyone is finished with that course (very courteous of them, not to mention it is proper etiquette). Definitely best service in town. Pros: Seasonal patio, Great wine list, Server, Paul more

Fabulous Meal 7/30/2002

Very impressive meal that can rank with any place in the country. Flawless, friendly service combined with expertly prepared high quality ingredients. The starters of the mac and cheese is as sublime as everyone says it is...I could have eaten a trough of it. The blue crab salad with green curry was excellent. Entress of seared scallops were superb, and the soft shell crab was as good as I've ever had. For those who like tart desserts, the rhubarb crisp was a fine ending, though it needad more of the cream cheese brown sugar ice cream. Great! No snootiness! more
