Metropolitan Rental Corp

I have been on one of their building over on Bradley for six months. I took the rental as it had no security, no move in fee and the cheapest rent you can find. When I moved ion things looked ok on the surface, however, the first time I went into the basement for laundry.... I knew I was in trouble. Found rodent poison all over the basement along with traps everywhere for rats. They have dry traps, ( sewer drains that aren't in use anymore) and they have no metal grates on them sso the rats and mice come up from the sewer. While the janitor is very polite and responds when you call, he fails to realy fix anything. He does patch jobs. I currrently have water damage from a rusted radiator pipe that has soaked -- and ruined -- the wood floor which is also sinking into the floor. The bathroom faucet leaks and every time it is fixed it leaks again with in hours. When I moved in they had not cleaned , the place was filty. The landlords, are rude, unresponsive and do not care. The tenants are all great, but this is slum lord property. If you are in a desperate bind and want a cheap rent with a short lease, go for it, but if you can.. go elsewhere!!! Aaron (landlord) and Ahmad (janitor/super) make this vintage building a home. I have lived here less than a year, but recently upgraded apartments. As long as I live in Chicago I will live at 525 W Arlington. Ahmad responds timely to maintenance issues and takes great care of the courtyard, which entail a lot of gardening. This building is nearly a hundred years old so occasional issues are to be expected, but Ahmad responds quickly. The roof deck is my favorite place to read and enoy the sun sets/rises. Sometimes you can see the Navy Pier fireworks and a small view of the lake. The tenants are mostly quiet and keep to themselves. Unlike most apartments, you never hear your neighbor, unless the windows are open. Metropolitan pays the electricity and the gas! Winter is very warm here. Pros: Location, price, vintage, roof deck and amazing courtyard. Cons: Carpet more

Hello,\r While I consider the buildings, neighborhood and price to be just right and have lived in one of their buildings for two years I caution against one of the landlords.\r \r I called to ask a question and Aaron, (the one you want to talk to) transferred me to someone else to answer my question. \r \r The second guy, (of the three landlords) was a total bully and shouted at me. I told him that was not necessary and asked about my ""issue"" he then shouted some more and hung up. I tried to call back to speak with Aaron again and was re-directed to the shouting insulting man, twice. Coersive and domineering guy.\r \r I can see that a sublet will be in my near future. This guy shouldn't be allowed to shout his insults and project his ""ego insults"" so strongly, and wrongly to a little lady tenant!\r \r Beware... more
