Best

I have been going to Mario Badescu for years, and I love it there. FANITA is my go to lady, and not only does she give you an amazing facial, but she also really knows everything...

Worst

i agree with the comments that this place offers good facials and bad service. my facialist seemed tired, was very quick, and left the room for long stretches of time. still, i ...

Fantastic facial! 7/5/2005

My experience at MB was completely positive - my facialist was polite, informative, and thorough, and I left with a bag full of samples suited to my skin type, with no pressure to buy. My skin felt so clean and soft that I didn't want to leave the spa to face the humidity of the streets and the subway stations! Pros: Rikaco, my facialist, Not busy at the time, Free samples more

speechless 6/3/2005

All the negative reviews are genuine. Not only the facial started 20 mins late for whatever reason, during the facial, my facialist stepped in and out, in and out at least 5 times. The worst thing is, other facialist just barged into my room without knocking and started to argue with my facialist for an admin problem. This is the one of the worst facial experience ever. However I have to say the product is gentle and the facial is not bad. Pros: samples, value Cons: customer service more

Not recommended 5/27/2005

I knew this place was no-frills, but I surely did not expect it to be as bad as it was. It was niether relaxing nor private. The people at the front desk are rude, don't have a clue and are not to be trusted. For example, one person recommended a certain line of products. I mentioned that I have very sensitive skin and that it may be helpful if I could consult with my technician - but she refused!! I later found out that the people at the front desk work off commissions and they do not consult with the people who actualy spent "some" time with you. Lastly, I must add - I had good skin before my facial. Since going (which was over a month ago), my face has never looked WORSE. I will never go back. Pros: nothing Cons: everything more

Low Maintenance, Great Skin!! 3/14/2005

This is not a place to go to get pampered. The staff is about business. No chit chat, "no how you doing"... get in the massage chair and get ready for your facial. Your skin will never feel better. Dont forget to take some products on your way out. Cheap and wonderful. more

SATISFACTION! 2/25/2005

I am a spa junkie! I finally got around to trying Mario Badescu. The Glycolic Facial was terrific, my skin was glowing when I was done. I like the products very much (which are relatively inexpensive). No pampering here, just a really good facial at a fantastic price! Pros: inexpensive, conveniently located, product selection more

not a massage spot 9/3/2004

first impression- employees are not happy second impression- why are there pieces of tissue hanging in front of air vents? Synopsis: there is no peaceful waiting area, no water readily available for or pre or post massage, and the over-all experience is not so exceptional. My massage was good, but this is not the place for soothing massage or a urban getaway for the day. more

Extremely Unprofessional 7/21/2004

What kind of spa does your facial with the door open while people walk by and yap it up int he hallway the whole time? My facialist was in and out of the room so many times...she basically stopped by to slap some cream on my face every once in a while. She was rushing, obviously going from room to room with other customers. It was the worst experience I've ever had in a salon. The mani/pedi was completely overpriced and consisted on basically filing and painting. Their prices may be cheaper than the rest but with that kind of service, I'd rather pay more. NEVER AGAIN! more

Did not enjoy at all! 5/9/2004

I thought i will share my experice with others who might be looking for some "relaxing time and peaceful treat" for themselves, so they wouldn't make same mistake as I did, and waste one perfect sunny spring afternoon. 1: The customer service ladies are very pushy about selling their products, and if you don't purchase all of them, they make you feel very uncomfortable, and uninvited. 2: I noticed they also ask whether you have enough cash to pay for your service. They said, they do accept credit cards, but with that they might have to charge sales tax-- and told me there is ATM rigth downstairs. 3: I also did not enjoy being messaged with doors open. You could hear all that people talking on the phones, and UPS guy picking up stuff, and etc. I know I will never return to that place. Will you? more

Don't Recommend 4/25/2004

I've never written a review before but felt compelled after my visit. I would rather pay $30 more and get great service than go back to this place. The facialist was in the room for about a total of 15 minutes, minimal massage, door was open the entire time, noisy, not relaxing. My face does look and feel good but it has looked and felt just as great at other places in the city, but I have had a wondeful experience to boot. Pros: Inexpensive, Free samples Cons: , Not relaxing more

good and bad 2/25/2004

I've gotten glycolic treaments there and they've definitely helped me. The facialists are proficient and efficient. They keep everything on schedule. They are also very generous with samples. The only bad thing is their customer service. From my experience, I have only ever encountered one courteous receptionist. Whenever I try to make an appointment I get a major dose of attitude from the receptionists. They really don't bother to accommodate working women. Their evenings hours are limited to only two nights a week; their first appointment of the day isn't until 9:30 even though they claim to be open at 8:30. I think they do good work for the price but the gatekeepers are very unpleasant. more

Reasons why I go there.... 10/17/2003

There is a difference between Badescu and other spas. I don't go to Mario Badescu for some overpriced facial just to get some extra pampering. I go because the facials are the best. My family has been going to Badescu since the 70's. The prices are, in some cases, half the price of "fancy" spas. No one tried to sell me anything after I said "no" the first time. My usually oily, large-pored, unruly skin feels like silk when I walk out of there and easily for days and days later. I also like their skin care stuff (try their powders), which runs the same cost as about Neutrogena! more

I'd Rather go to the dermatologist 6/23/2003

From the minute I sat in the chair they were trying to "upgrade" and sell me products. She hadn't even looked at me and she was telling me to buy every product in sight. It was stressful. The whole time she was slopping stuff on my face I was working on my next excuse. And I do mean slopping. I think I had more glop on my face when I left there. I felt like I needed to wash my face. more

don't go at the end of the day 6/6/2003

i agree with the comments that this place offers good facials and bad service. my facialist seemed tired, was very quick, and left the room for long stretches of time. still, i was surprised at how clean and soft my skin looked. when my facial ended at closing time, however, the "product specialist" was apparently eager to go home and did not offer any advice or samples, even though i had questions about products. it's a decent value if you don't care about the service. more

I love this place 4/29/2003

Second time with Angie here. She gave me an increadible facial. I was very pleased with her and the very friendly atmosphere. And I love the products as well. I'm very happy. Pros: affordable, great products more

Bad Service - BAD manicures & pedicures 3/16/2003

The facialist was in the room for maybe a total of 10 minutes. The facial was not relaxing at all. If you do go to Mario Badescu, DON'T add on the manicure and pedicure. It sux and you just feel more uncomfortable since it is done simultaneously with the facial. The products seem pretty good, but the service is just horrible. Pros: inexpensive, good products Cons: not relaxing, bad service more

Simple facial 3/11/2003

I wanted a facial and that's what I got. People were nice enough, setting is not gorgeous, but the treatment is affordable, professional, and well done. Extractions were done gently, no product push at all. My facialist asked if all I wanted was a regular facial, I said yes. That was it. During the facial no products were discussed, only when I went up to pay was I offered a free product consultation which I gladly took. So less than the price of most facials in town I made off with a facial, a cleanser a moisturizer and a bag of samples. I'm happy. Pros: great products, cheap!, nice people Cons: not pretty, a little noisy, they don't hover more

Fantastic facials! 1/30/2003

The facial with glycolic took years off, my skin was glowing when I was done. I'm absolutely hooked on the products which are relatively inexpensive. Pros: great quality, relaxing Cons: overcrowded, long checkout more

A serious skin care clinic... 1/12/2003

A serious skin care clinic...not a relaxing spa but the quality of my facial was great and I was suprised by how generous they were with the advice and the samples...I would recommend to a friend. Pros: Quality Facial Cons: Not Relaxing more

Good Faial, Not Pampering 1/9/2003

I just like hopping around different spas and finally got to Mario Badescue. The reservation was very easy, 11am on Saturday with only 1 day ahead to make the appointment. I am used to pampering spas, so I was little disappoitnted when I was guided to a cubicle like treatment section. Corina (my facialist) was good, but it is nothing relaxing about the whole experience. I appreciated that Mario Badescue does not push customers to buy extra treatments or products unlike other spas. I wish I did not have to hear all the conversations that were taken place by Corina as she was doing a facial to another customer at the same time as mine. $65 is cheap for a quality facial, but for I would rather get pampered... Pros: serious facial, aren't sales people Cons: not papering, small room more

Clinically Clean 1/6/2003

While not a relaxing, spa-type atmosphere I did get a great, inexpensive facial here. This is where you go to have your face cleaned, not to de-stress and chill out. My face looked great and felt so soft and clean when I left. The product consultation afterwards was great - lots of recommendations and free samples but no pressure to buy. I even got a holiday goodie bag! Pros: reasonable prices, great products, efficient Cons: clinical vs. spa, hard to get appoint. more
