Manor Moving And Storage

We have read the glowing reviews posted here, but we have just been through a short, seemingly simple move from lower mid-town Manhattan down to the financial district, and we believe that anyone thinking of hiring Manor ought to read this posting. First, they quoted us a price that seemed fair and reasonable, and we accepted it. Then, when their movers appeared at our apartment, they immediately asked for more money (showing us a work order that, among other things, quoted the labor rate at $100 an hour!); then, they asked us to take responsibility for a possible parking ticket (because they had to double park); then, at the end of the 1.5 mile trip downtown, they unpacked, leaving an incredible mess, and on their way out the door, presented us with a bill for just short of twice their original quote, trying to justify the 'hike' because they 'needed to use more cardboard boxes'!! MORE CARDBOARD BOXES ? Have you ever spent around $600 for an armful of (folded) cardboard boxes? Incidentally, because we wouldn't agree to pay the ""possible parking ticket"", one of the three movers sat in the truck throughout the packing-and-move-out process, charging us $100 an hour for his time! Can you believe that? These guys were terrible, and when we complained to the company's management, they offered us a $100 refund ... really? In our view, their conduct was borderline fraudulent, certainly inappropriate and offensive, so, be warned. We feel that they cheated us, and they may just cheat you too. more

We were very happy with the service we received on our move. The guys were fast, organized and efficient. Everything was professionally wrapped and arrived in great condition. more

They broke my desk and damaged other property. Their men (whom I tipped very well) told me ""oh, call the boss on monday, he will take care of you."" Good cop, bad cop situation until they're out the door. Then I call the boss on monday and guess what he tells me. He doesn't have time to deal with us. he can only pay 30 cents a pound. Then my wife, who is the nicest person on earth, insisted on calling herself since she found them online and they were so rude to her beyond belief. I don't know who wrote all these reviews but certainly not real customers! Be aware. SOME ADVICE FOR YOU: - They will take forever and pack everything to an unreasonable degree. but if they break your stuff when they throw them around in the truck or warehouse they won't pay you a dime unless you've bought insurance. So buy insurance and tell them not to spend 2 hours of your time on packing on a 3 hour move and charge you for it. - Don't sign anything up front because they will rush you with all the paperwork even before you even see your property intact. Wait and see! Apparently a box fell on my desk in storage and chopped it in two?!? more

I am not big on writing recommendations or reviews, but I cant let this one go. I used Manor Moving over the week-end, and not only did they impress me, but also my neighbors that watched them. There were 4 young gentlemen that packed everything from books to fine china to my most valuable possessions. The men were so careful with my things, and even helped me arrange everything in the new apartment!!! I will definitely recommend Manor Moving to anyone looking to move. Even to my firm which will be relocating in the fall. more

Manor moving was great with my move, assuring me every step of the way...they were clear about what I should do beforehand to save on time and money and then were clear about how my items would be handled. The actual process was quick and painless. Thank you, Manor! more

My experience with Manor moving goes as follows: 1. Despite VERY thorough communication with Eugene, my contact, the men showed up unprepared and had to leave to get required supplies. 2. I had to sit in the truck for hours while strangers were alone in my apartment in order to avoid a parking ticket that I would have been responsible for. 3. Upon completion, I was issued a notice explaining the amount of tip that was appropriate. Not only was this awkward, this amount was MUCH more than the amount suggested by a web sight on appropriate tipping. 4. I was told my things would be delivered to Georgia within a week.. The move was September 16th. The delivery was more than 3 weeks later. 5. My expensive sofa was delivered with parts missing. 6. My expensive table was missing the hardware necessary to reassemble it. 7. In a false attempt to find the missing (and irreplaceable) parts, I was instructed to send pictures and more pictures of the sofa's missing parts. The table's parts were not mentioned. 8. Upon receipt of these photos, the owner of Manor Movers told me that one of his workers...6 WEEKS LATER...""remembers"" that the piece I say was missing was never there. He ""remembers"" mentioning it to me. CONCLUSION: Manor moving is no better than any other moving company. They want their money, that's it . In the event of a problem, all the feel good rhetoric about great customer service will amount to a waste of time and nothing. In my case the ""solution"" the company came up with was that I'm a liar. Update: 4 months later by some sort of miracle, I found a replacement part for the sofa...$50...emailed Zvi Manor ...no response. more

I have had many moves in my life and Manor Moving is by far the best company I have ever dealt with. They arrive on time, are polite, professional, efficient and don't cost an arm and a leg. The cost is very reasonable. I would never use another company. Nothing was damaged. They expertly wrapped our furniture, breakables etc. They were a pleasure to deal with. We had a really great experience from start to finish with Manor. Our movers arrived even a bit earlier than expected on the big day, and our foreman, Patrick, couldn't have been more helpful in explaining how everything was going to work. We moved from a very crowded 1 bedroom (really like a small house worth of stuff) to a 2BR in a different borough, and the whole thing finished up 2 hours earlier than originally forecast. To top it off, everything arrived in great condition, no breakage, and we didn't pick up a parking ticket at either location (small miracle in a city move). I can't recommend Manor enough! more

I have moved FOUR times in the past 2 years. No joke. I've got Manor Moving on speed dial. Each move has been easy and comfortable. Their storage service, which I have also used, was safe and reliable. The last move was even less expensive than the estimate. I have several delicate items including glassware and artwork; everything came out fine. One super-cheap 15-year-old IKEA chest has lost a few handles with successive moves, but no harm done. Frankly, with Manor Moving, moving apartments is *way* easier than a trip to Europe. more

I used Manor Moving and Storage to move my 2 bedroom apartment. I can't say enough how excellent this company is and what a pleasant move this was. I had some very personal and expensive art which I was very worried about the movers packing properly with past experiences with other moving companies. These guys knew exactly what to do and not one thing was damaged. more

I highly recommend Manor moving and storage. I did my homework before deciding on Manor, I received 4 quotes from well known movers in NYC in the end I was happy deciding between Manor and another company. I decided on Manor because of their impeccable follow up and attention, not only from Jeff our sales person, but from Zvi the owner himself. Our move was somewhat complicated, it included a move within the city, a storage unit and another home out East. The team was friendly, efficient, speedy and very neat. They arrived on time all three days of the move and the owner himself called and emailed each day to see how things were going. In terms of price, they are not the cheapest, however they are fair and within the same price range as the other well known companies. All of our items, from family heirlooms to the bathroom cabinet were packaged well. Everything arrived in one piece and they reassembled all of the furniture. What made Manor stand out the most to me compared to the other companies was the personal attention you (and your home) receive from the Manor team, which obviously comes from the top Zvi himself being involved. We had a positive experience with Manor Moving. When we booked our appointment they were able to schedule the move quickly and for a competitive price. Super friendly and professional. When move day came, the guys showed up on time and did a great job getting everything on/off the truck quickly and carefully. Manor Movers gave us a very attractive estimate and just now I realized that it is JUST an estimate. The actual cost came to be a lot higher. Numb skull movers packed the kitchen stuff with our kids toys. It took as a week to sort through packed boxes as none one of them was labeled. Movers didn't break anything but I am sure it has to be a better service out there. more
