save your stomach and your wallet 12/13/2005

i have never written a review good nor bad for any restaurant,i've always given the benfit of the doubt. However i cannot resist.Originally wanted to go to the bowery, but there was a private party so went next door to try magnolia. Now the ambience, decor, etc.aka smoke and mirrors are great, but i have never left a restaurant feeling so ill.The service was OK, but the food was worse than the cheese cake factory.the burger was absolutely horrible and the rest of it was not even worth writing about. Its horrible or i suppose expected now in this city that just because some place has a buzz or attracts celebrities (like they know food) that the place has to be good.if you want to drink and hob knob with "cool" LOOKing people then go for it, but if you want to have a good drink and a burger save yourself and go next door. Pros: ambience, decor Cons: food, people, price more

LOVE 12/11/2005

I was shocked to see reviews citing bad service! Our service was IMPECABLE. We were late (LA traffic!) for our reservation and they graciously took care of us despite the crowd and our tardiness. The wine was great and reasonable priced. The food was delicious. We spent the greater part of the meal moaning in delight. I had the seared ahi tuna with wasabi mashed potatoes and no words can describe how amazing it was! My friend had the salmon and she loved it. I tasted my friends skirt steak and it was the most mouth watering steak Ive had in a long time. I dont know how Ill ever decide what to get the next time I goprobably tonight, and tomorrow night, and the next nightIt was so good! Pros: Food, Value, Courteous Staff Cons: NONE more

Relaxed Friday night drinks... 11/15/2005

Easygoing doormen & bartenders helped us enjoy a low key Friday night. Started at the bar and eased our way into a table for late night appetizers thanks to a friendly hostess. Eye candy was nice for both sexes, in a warmly lit and eye-pleasing venue. The wait staff was friendly but took a little long between drinks, food and bill. Only cons are with shots, they are one of the most smallest ones I've seen in LA - feels like you are making a $10 donation to the bar, instead of prepping yourself for a night of debauchery... Highly recommended for a jump off for the night. Pros: Relaxed atmosphere, Great venue Cons: Small shots, Average wait staff more

Great addition to the neighborhood! 11/11/2005

We went for dinner last week with friends after a movie and everything about it was just great. We waited a short bit for a table but no stress...had drinks at the bar and it was perfect before sitting down to eat. The atmosphere was perfect, it was busy but our server was very attentive and the food was delicious! The steak sandwich got raves all around...and the mac n cheese was yummy... Great addition to the neighborhood....thanks magnolia! Pros: food, great price, music more

SNOBBY SERVICE!! 10/25/2005

This place was snobby & rude. They don't take reservations & they made us wait for an hour when there were plenty of empty tables. They are unorganized and the food was only OK. Don't waste your time here! Pros: waiter, parking Cons: rude, average food more
