Great Restaurant = Great Night 5/29/2006

A group of friends met up for dinner and we were seated at the front booth, the night was starting out great from there. We had a great table and the food and drinks only added to a wonderful evening. I had the ahi tuna, it was cooked just right, so good. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. Our server was very friendly as well, can't really say a bad thing about this place! Pros: food, ambiance, friendly Cons: can get crowded more

The non-eating experience 4/17/2006

I'd love to review the food here - I'd heard really good things about it, but I was ignored by both the hostess and the waitstaff while here. Not only was I ignored, but the hostess kept shooting me dirty looks as I sat in the bar waiting for a table - as if daring me to say anything about it as other diners who came in after me got menus, were seated and put in food orders. Hint taken. Magnolia does not want my business. I won't give them another chance. more

Terrible Service 4/12/2006

My girlfriends and I wanted to take our college friend from NYC someplace fun.... to start, we waited an hour and 45 min for our table although the hostess insisted when we arrived that it would be 45 min to an hour MAX. (Trust me, if we had known we would have left.) The waiter completely ignored us once we sat down, and we waited another 30 min to pay the bill. Then he ran all of our credit cards for the incorrect amount, and we had to call and complain the next day. The food was good, but then again I was starved by the time it came. I'd go for drinks next time, but nothing else. This place was such a waste of time. Pros: Atmosphere, drinks Cons: Service, wait time, service! more

Absolutely Awful 4/5/2006

The worst experience in 3years of eating in L.A. Arrived on time Wednesday with my girlfriend and was told the table wasn't ready. "No problem," i replied. 30minutes later I asked when we'd be seated and was told "the table's being laid now." After a further 25mins we left. This would've been OK but the incompetence runs deep. The bargirl was so rude it was laughable. Wake up love you work behind a bar. To cap things off I had to pull over as the valet had wiped my windshield with his hands. Good lord this place is a joke! Pros: nothing Cons: service, bargirl, valet more

Good Times 2/9/2006

Order the World Famous Artichoke-Spinach appetizer. So good. The staff is top notch. One of my favorites. Once we ate at the comfy couch lounge, which ended up being the best seats in the house. The music can be a little loud at times, but the selection they play is good. more

girls night out 1/22/2006

My girlfriends and I were looking for a fun night out.....Magnolia fulfilled our every need. We arrived, greeted with a very accomodating hostess, and directed to the bar. We were a little upset we couldn't get in right away, but we had SUCH a great time with the bartenders. We only had about a half hour to wait, but when our table was ready, we actually felt sad we had to leave our barstaff pals. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, comfortable and relaxing. We loved everything and had the most enjoyable time that we've had in a long time. Their patio is fabulous, service friendly and attentive, and the food and menu selection a TEN. It was a gorgeous night, and we couldn't have picked a better spot to enjoy it. Don't miss the grilled artichoke and the marinated skirt steak is fantastic. We already have plans for next week! Pros: Inexpensive, Good Parking, Hip more

A Pleasant Surprise! 1/20/2006

A friend suggested Magnolia, she raved it was a nice restaurant in L.A. without attitude and the prices. Boyfrend and I ate there one Friday evening without a reservation, although we did feel like we needed to make one since the hostess asked if we had one. We were seated on the nice patio outback and our waiter was very attentive. Boyfriend had the steak salad, the beef just melted in your mouth. I had the chicken sandwich with gouda cheese, just yummy. We shared the apple crisp for dessert and it is ALMOST better than mine. Dinner for under $60, not bad! But, the secret is out - many people come here just for the bar so it can get crowded fast. We saw Rachel Bilson and Adam Brody from the O.C., which means all the wannabes are not far behind and this ceases to be a neighborhood joint. Pros: Food, Service, Prices Cons: Crowded, No longer a secret more

I love it. 1/19/2006

I've been to Magnolia about 6 times I suppose. Every single time has been both memorable, and completely enjoyable. I was a bit surprised when I dropped in last night only to find out that they have started taking reservations! Thankfully, they found us a great table and were very nice about it. The funny thing about this place is that I spot a B or C list celebrity every single time I go. Last night, it was a few 90210 characters and the lead singer of Journey (Steve Perry). It's a great place to take out of town guests! They instantly realize that the place is totally hip, yet comfortable. Pros: atmosphere, excellent food, reasonable prices Cons: Can get crowded more
