The food was pretty good and I thought 6/9/2012

The food was pretty good and I thought I found a new place to eat but yesterday i was seated next to a bunch of roaches on the floor.. I pointed them out to the hostess and she did nothing.. I was grossed out and left.. I will never go here again! more

Great Place to Eat 1/26/2011

My favorite is the chopped steak - this is not a normal run of the mill chopped steak . . .it is premium quality with onions and peppers and colby jack cheese on top. It makes my mouth water just thinking about it. more

Great food - Great people 1/17/2011

Nothing short of fantastic - huge portions and great food. Forget those who claim this is not authentic cajun and head over. I have had many meals here and never one complaint. Far better than Razoos and locally owned. Every time I eat here I have been vistied at my table by either Ray or Melinda the owners. You will never get that type of service at a chain resturaunt. more

Fun atmosphere and good food 11/29/2010

Great cajun food with huge portions. My fiance and his family are from New Orleans and they love going here for lunch and dinner. If you are looking for a light meal this is not the place to go. They do have grilled fish and shrimp options, but most things are fried and delicious. more

BEST Fried Crawfish Tails EVER 8/31/2010

August 28, 2010 rmat9069 says Wife had Voodoo Pasta Salad with Blackened Shrimp and said it was delicious. Large portion, could hardly finish it. I had the Fried crawfish tails/cf etouffee platter with cole slaw and red beans and rice. The fried CF TAILS were large, lightly battered, tender, many in number and the BEST THAT I EVER HAD. This includes Baton Rouge, where I grew up since 47, New Orleans, Lafayette, Shreveport, Destin, Fla, & Dallas, where I have lived since 1977. The etouffee was delicious but different than I have had before. Like Gumbo, etouffee can be made many different ways. The slaw & beans and rice were delicious. Great food , great selection, great value & great service. New customer but will eat there every time in Austin to see family and friends. Will bring them also. Got paper menu so I can plan for next time. more

Charging for Extras 4/18/2010

Really , really - your going to charge me extra for potatoes and corn that should already come with boiled crawfish?? BAD Longhorn Cafe. I guess that puts your price over what I can get at Razzooz. And dont tell me that your bugs are bigger. They are not, I wont order that again. BUT the Gumbo my wife ordered did look good. Didnt taste it, because it was too small, but it did look good. LLC - Your off ""my list"" but barley... Pros: taste Cons: .50 extra for corn and potatoes more

Yummmmy! 1/1/2010

This small cafe has yummy food! I love the etouffee it is warm and creamy and hugs your tummy. I can't really speak to the regular kids menu. I know they have some sort of potato smiles that my sister seems to like...but come on order them a small bowl of gumbo or etouffee what kid doesn't like rice? yummmmy yummmmmy! more

great atmosphere and service 9/27/2008

i'm from south louisiana and wanted a little taste of home. i found it at Louisiana Longhorn Cafe. Everything on the seafood platter was fried to perfection, the etouffee was delicious. and the breadpudding was awsome. On top of that the service was great and the owners were very friendly. more

Worst cajun meal ever 9/11/2008

I hate to be rude but, are any you people giving this place good reviews from Louisiana? Well, I am and nothing here was remotely recognizeable as Cajun food. Their etouffee has the consistency of a lumpy cream gravy and was orange. Upon tasting, the flavor smacked of an over zealous chef who is quite fond of tabasco sauce. more

Gastritis 4/4/2008

Yes, we had large group celebrate a Birthday here that none of us will ever forget. We can laugh about it now but it was not pretty. Apparently the kitchen had some sort of contamination that night. There were about 10 people at our table and 6 got ill. Now which was the offensive item we do not know. We ordered a lot of stuff and had a great time but I can't recommend this place to anyone since it could cause serious harm. Pros: Fun atmosohere Cons: Medical Bills more

OhYea! dat be the taste! 2/21/2008

WOW. This is on our regular rotation. Sometimes we just call and get the appertizer sampler to go.Though the atmosphere and service is part of the fun. It is always where we take out of town guests. It can only be described as down home perfection of spice and richness. It is that flavor that you can only get with a well tended roux and fresh stuff in the pot.The gumbo is the best...wait no the Oysters Bienville...but then there is the Smoked Boudin or wait can't forget theShrimp Etouffee\r ...Oh I can't decide what is the best...just have everyone order something different and share....the portions are ample enough....save room for dessert!\r \r Pros: Locally owned, fresh non product food, cool main street location Cons: limited seating, some favourites are seasonal(not really a con just a disapointment) more

after five years suprised its still there 2/11/2008

First went to Longhorn when it opened five years ago. Food was bland and portions were small for the price.\r \r Figured been awhile and the place is still there so give it another shot. Wish i hadnt.\r \r Gumbo was ok but the crawfish bisque (least thats what they called it) was disgusting. the bisque was watery and the crawfish overcooked. Infact everyone at the table complained of the food being over cooked. Someone needs to sample before letting the food leave the kitchen.\r the red beans and rice seemed like they dumped refried beans out of a can into a dish and lumped rice in the middle. The only good thing was the soggy fries (personal taste) and cole slaw. \r \r the waiter was very unfriendly and hardly came to the table. the quickest response we got was when he ran the bill. i am really shocked this place still exist. Pros: fries and cole slaw Cons: overcooked seafood more

AYEEEE! 10/26/2007

Wow! 3rd time I've been there and it was wonderful. I took a date there for a Sunday lunch and she very much agreed that the food was incredible. She said that her parents love Cajun food and that she was definitely going to bring them soon. We started out with the Smoked Boudin and she had a salad. The Boudin comes out with about 6 half sliced lengths nicely presented on the perimeter on a bed of fried onions with a spicy ranch sauce for dipping in the middle. Oh so goooood. I had a bowl of Seafood Gumbo with 2 huge crab claws as a topper. You basically grab the claws by the edge and slip the juicy meat right off the tendons before diving into the heaping bowl. The next bowl I had was the Crawfish Etouffee! The base was incredible and my date couldn't resist the spoonfuls that I fed to her with my own hand. All she could say was, ""Oh my God! Yummmmmy!"" and ""That is soooo good!"" She had the Fish Ray which is a fresh Tilapia Filet delicately seasoned and broiled. She let me have a couple bites only! You will definitely enjoy this place, with it's cold beer and Bayou attitude. more

Good Food and Service 7/27/2007

Came here for lunch yesterday. The place was packed but we didn't have to wait for table which was great! Server was wonderful and I had the Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya. Very tasty! Pros: Great Food & Service more

Horrible you will be the next person too walk out like others I have seen do. 10/31/2006

I moved to Austin 6 months ago from Louisiana . The first time I went there, it was not busy, the service was great and the food was excellent. About 2 weeks later I decided to go back and have some lunch. When we walk in a lady sat us and asked if we wanted breakfast or lunch and we said lunch since it was 11:30. While we were looking over the lunch menus the server comes up and says im sorry we cannot serve you lunch until 12, so we said we would agree with breakfast. Then as people started coming in BEFORE 12 they were letting some people order lunch and then telling more they had to order breakfast and it gets better the people who came in after all of us received their lunch way after us. We did not receive our breafast until 12:10 and remember we got there at 11:30. Our food was very cold and the biscuits were hard like it had just been sitting in the window for a while. It was a while before our drinks were filled and when she brought the picture to fill them she just slamed it down on our table because she was mad that someone walked out because of the service and how they were treating everyone. Another table that came in was about to leave too because of the service. The sad thing is they do not value customers there, when the guy who left said he just wanted to pay for his drinks and the checker said no dont worry about it and did not even try too get him too stay or even apoligize, they just let him walk out unsatisfied. They should really consider changing their name and taking the Louisiana out of it because Louisiana restaurants are not rude like that and we care about our customers and will go out of our way to make sure they are taken care of. I dont think these people have even been around real Louisiana food, they say gator taste like fishy chicken, chicken yeah but fishy no. Im sorry this place had to be like that because I was looking forward to finding a good place here, but looks like I will be looking elsewhere. Pros: oysters on the half shell Cons: rude service more

Best Cajun food as well as the best Chicken Fried Steak in Texas 10/14/2006

For the best Cajun food anywhere, you must visit a jewel that appeared about 3 years ago in downtown Round Rock, called (THE LOUISIANA LONGHORN CAFE)\r \r Jerry and I have been going ever since it opened and the great customer service and the warm family feeling provided by Ray and Melinda Overstreet and their staff just can't be beat.\r \r From the delicious cajun food, to the chicken fried steak, it can't be compared for the delicious and authenic flavors that you will experience. The deserts are homemade and mouthwatering, so save room when you go to dine.\r \r Their parking is limited, but there is a city garage within a short walking distance that is for your use. While reservations are not accepted, the wait time is not long, if at all.\r \r They are now serving breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and that to is a great experience. They have many items on the menu and some you will not find anywhere else in town.\r \r Jerry and I have lived in Round Rock, for 20+ years, and this is by far our favorite restuarant, and we are proud to recommend it to our family and friends. A little side item, our granddaughters love to go to the Longhorn where they are treated like family.\r \r Marquita Wanslow Pros: Service and warm feelings from owners more
