Never go back 5/29/2009

I will never go back. Ever. Five of us stepped in for a quick beer on a Friday night. Our server did not know that Sierra Nevada was a beer - even though it was only one of the four on tap. If you have only four beers on tap, don't you think your server would at least know the names? Before she could bring us a pitcher, she ""had to find the bar manager."" She came back a few minutes later, saying that we would have to wait, since he was having a cigarette out back. Fine. a new server, she wasn't trained right, no big deal. We get our pitcher, enjoy our beer as we watch the 6 people behind the bar stare at us, then ask for our bill. They charged us $25 for a single pitcher of beer. I asked the new server (the previous one disapeared) if that was correct. I have NEVER seen a pitcher for $25 before. He went to check at the bar, came back and said the $25 was correct, and that we also had to pay the $5 tip that was added to our bill (we were a party of five). Unbelievable. Since there were 6 large men staring us down, and we were in a good mood, we paid the outrageous price, but will never, ever, go back. Pros: no other bar around Cons: insulting, feel cheap and used when I left more

New Management 5/8/2009

Please READ: As other reviews have already mentioned, this restaurant has a lot of history! It is owned by the same person as it has been for the last several years, but he ""rents"" Kolbeh to new ""management"" tenants. The owner has never done a good job at running the restaurant on his own, and neither has the last two ""management"" tenants. It is currently being managed by a new tenant as of May 1st 2009. The manager, Igor, has run Russian restaurants all over the world and is looking to change the Kolbeh impression. He has his own new menu and is changing the entertainment and image of Kolbeh for the better! You should stop by and say hi to Igor, better yet, say it in Russian...""Privet""! Pros: Awesome new manager Cons: Has a bad image from last managers more

Those of you that are carious about what happened to Kolbeh all details here 11/6/2008

Kolbeh Restaurant has been rented out to ""Astoria"" and Kolbeh is not involved or responsible for any actions taken from 10/23/07 (beginning of Astorias rent).... there is a chance Kolbeh will come back, there is a chance Kolbeh will become Full nightclub but this chance is not approved yet ...etc..\r \r [Kolbeh Corporation - ? 2008] more

NOT KOLBEH ANYMORE - Actually ""The Astoria""! 2/11/2008

BEWARE: The restaurant at this location is NOT Kolbeh. It is actually called the Astoria. Unfortunately they lied to me when I called to make the reservation. I asked specifically if it was Kolbeh (the person only answered the phone ""hello"") and was told yes. When we arrived we were the ONLY people there. I noticed the Astoria name on the menu and when I asked was told ""we used to be Kolbeh"". The service was quite atrocious. It wasn't just the language barrier - it was as if they had no concept whatsoever of how to run a restaurant. There was no music to start - our voices actually echoed a bit in the large, empty space. Once they did put some on, the exact opposite effect occurred - we couldn't hear ourselves talk!!! Eventually they corrected it to a more moderate level. We asked for drinks (they were not offered - not even water) after noticing the fully stocked bar and were told ""we don't have bartender"". I interpreted this to mean they didn't have a liquor license but then noticed the kitchen staff mixing themselves drinks (not a good sign either). We ordered a couple of small things off the menu including a Lula Kebab (""See, we like Kolbeh - we have kebab . . . "") and it was truly terrible. Well, except for the Feta Cheese platter which had a rather large serving of cheese to put on our microwaved bread (and you know what gradually happens to bread that has been nuked, right?). Didn't have the courage to try the ""Astoria Sauce"" which most menu items were covered in after we learned it was ""a cream sauce w/ mushrooms"". I'm guessing it wasn't even Campbells . . . So, why did we stay? Mostly because it was SO bad it was kind of funny. That and the fact we were on a tight schedule and would have been late for our next event if we tried to go somewhere else. YOU however have no excuse now to repeat our mistake! Stay away!!! Cons: Everything! more

tasty hummus tray... 11/22/2006

I recommend ordering the hummus as well as the platter that incudes pita, cucumber, tomato, and onion. It's a great start to a super-sized meal. Each dish is very large, so come with a hungry belly! As it gets later into the evening, the crowd seems to pick up, so you may want to stay late and grab drinks as well. Don't forget to top off your meal with the pistachio ice cream..you won't regret it! Pros: Service, large portions more

RIP OFF HOOKAH PRICES 10/4/2006

I have never paid $25.00 for one hookah that was not refilled/recoaled or anything!! But I paid this price at KOLBEH for a taped up hookah. They didnt have any flavor we requested and gave us the ""house blend"". MAKE SURE YOU ASK THE PRICE BEFORE ORDERING ONE, as it is not even listed on the menu, WONDER WHY!!!! I have bought hookahs in Seattle for $50! \r \r CHECK YOUR BILL AT THIS PLACE> Pros: food is good Cons: they might rip you off more

Best Persian Food In Seattle 3/30/2006

Mouth watering kebabs! Portions are so large the rice literally comes on a separate dish. The lamb was tender, marinated in a house family recipe and cooked over open flame. Chicken was not dry but incredibly moist and flavorful. The hummus is made fresh sprinkled with tahini and comes served with fresh tomatoes and cucumbers. One section of the menu features cornish game hens prepared any way you can imagine, all delicious. Kolbeh is a real Seattle eating gem. A must visit for those who love Mediterranean cuisine. Pros: kebabs, game hens, huge portions Cons: can be loud more

Good food for a great price. 2/26/2006

We had the number 23 and number 25 from the vegetarian entrees, both were delicious and we highly recommend this place. The only downside of this restaurant would be the music which is quite loud and they have speakers even in the restroom! more
