Worst

I've eaten at most sushi places in the Chicago area, as well as many in Asia and other parts of the world. Kamehachi is OK sushi, but not great. The rice is not high quality sus...

BORING! 8/2/2002

The sushi was unimaginative and pedestrian. To sit at the sushi bar and tell the waitress to tell the chef to nuts and she ask if you want a California roll, you've got to be kidding. By far the worst ""good sushi"" place in the city. Cons: expensive, dull, over rated more

Disappointing 7/31/2002

We were excited about moving into the neighborhood and having Kamehachi within walking distance. We've given it several tries but have always been disappointed. Fish was so-so in freshness and presentation was nil. We've stopped going and instead cab it over to another much better place. Cons: Slow Service more

great food, service a little lacking 7/29/2002

Food was great, everything from sushi to entrees. Waitstaff was very friendly; the only problem was that everything seemed to be served at once. Literally everything we ordered was on the table within a span of 2 minutes. (And it wasn't a busy night or anything like that). However, all things considered, I'd go back again. more

Best value/money 7/19/2002

Not the best sushi in town, and not the cheapest sushi in town, but haven't found a better place yet for quality food at a reasonable price. Sushi has always been great (try the oyster shooter) and atmosphere is very pleasant. My vote for favorite sushi place in the city. more

Consistantly great 7/18/2002

Kamehachi has 3 different types of dining areas to suite your mood and the food is always fresh. I've been there many time, ordered take out and never been disappointed. It's busy for a reason! more

Always Great 6/4/2002

This is the place that taught Chicago how to eat sushi. Their Wells location is the site of many great memories. It amazes me how well they handle large numbers of people in such a tight space. The fish is always fresh, and the atmosphere is fun. A guaranteed good time. Pros: fresh fish, atmosphere Cons: parking, crowds more

stepping up 5/14/2002

They have opened up a new location off of Michigan Ave. and it is great. The restaurant is beautiful, and the food is great! Since they were new the staff was a little over zelous but I would prefer it that way than non attentive. more
