Best food in town Food is amazing. Every time I come here, I feel like I never want to leave. Very chic atmosphere with a relaxing mood. The service is great and the staff reall...

Worst

I've been dining at Ike Sushi for close to twenty years, and in that time I've enjoyed some amazing Japanese cuisine and good times thanks to Ike's attention to craft and customer...

A Hidden Gem in Hollywood 2/18/2004

Ike serves what you called the ""honest sushi"" of Japan. It is nothing fancy, but good old traditional value driven sushi. They do use imitation crab in their cali-roll, but it is for the convenience of the non-regulars. Should you desire the real thing, the humorous Ike calls it the ""Avocado and Kani (crab) Roll."" One point worth mentioning is their tempura. The tempura chef is hispanic, but his skills are better than many of his Japanese rivals. Pros: Honest Sushi, Very good tempura, Ike is cool & funny Cons: , so so location more

dump, but fresh 1/22/2004

I will say the fish was fresh. However, there is no menu, it ws extremely difficult to communicated with the sushi chefs, the place is in a strip mall and I was caught off guard when I took my date there. I was a little embarrassed that this place is NOT a date night place to go. more

I LOVE IKE!!! 1/19/2004

Best low key sushi bar in town, a real hidden gem. Plus the chefs are entertaining and I always leave with a smile and a full, warm belly of excellent fish cuts. Don't try ordering fancy rolls or edemame--they are traditional and the value is int he fresh cuts of fish. If you want California haute cuisine, go to West Hollywood. Arigato!! Pros: Inexpensive, Great Fast Service, Fresh Food Cons: Close Early, Crowded more

Wow 11/8/2003

I'm a sushi devotee and have tried so many places around LA...but have stuck to a select few for years. Until I tried Ike, that is. I've been hearing about this place for years but never ventured over there to check it out. I'm sorry I waited so long. The quality of the fish here is incredible, the chefs and staff are really friendly and attentive, and it's just a low-key fun experience. The food and service are very traditional Japanese. Everyone knows each other and you can tell that most are regulars there. Ike is so sweet and did I mention that the fish is absolutely fresh and delicious? The best sushi & fish on the east side, hands down. I love Sushi Sasabune on Sawtelle too. Pros: fresh delicious fish, friendly staff, low-key atmosphere Cons: might have to wait more

I don't just like Ike...I love him. 9/2/2003

Oh Ike....how I love thee. My fiance and I stumbled upon Sushi Ike when we moved to the neighborhood. What a pleasant surprise for a sushi bar right next to a Domino's Pizza. F-R-E-S-H fish and incredibly attentive service make this sushi bar one of our favorites. Pros: food, service more

i like ike 11/8/2002

The freshest fish, the most devout regulars and perhaps the most charismatic sushi chef in L.A. You'll find service with a smile but no silly sushi here- just the most traditional fare. Hardcore fans happily forgo table service for a seat at the bar at the expense of a 45 minute wait. The gimmick here is there is no gimmick- no inside outs- no strange combinations - just fish, clean and simple, sliced with great skill. And rice - lightly seasoned and never overwhelming the fish. And a chef who loves his clientele as much as they love him (and sushi). more

I Like Ike 6/5/2002

Ike is good sushi, but it's not a 10. Nowhere that serves imitation crab in their California Rolls can really earn a top score. If you are looking for some of the best tuna you'll ever try, this is the place. I'm not sure how they came to specialize in tuna, but that really is the best thing on the menu. There's not much else they make that I'm crazy about. Even the sake is not up to par with the quality I'm used to, but yes, the tuna is good. Therefore, I like Ike. Pros: great tuna Cons: sake quality so-so, imitation crab more
