Best

I don't go out to breakfast much, so breakfast places are memorable to me-- good or bad. The Hi Spot is one of the good. There were 8 of us who got there around 8am (when it opens...

I have a tip for the Hi-spot employees -- 1) You either want to work in a busy place or not. If you dont, get a job somewhere else. Apparently none of you have figured out this...

Close to fantastic Breakfast 9/1/2008

The most important part of the breakfast was excellent...Green Eggs and Ham (Scrambled eggs with Mozzarella, pesto and Ham) were spot on, and my brides Breakfast Burrito delivered the goods. The remaining star is withheld due to cold potatoes and cold toast...OUCH. And, while the service was caring, it was obvious that our server was taxed with too many tables creating an apologetic but slow breakfast. more

Cute space, great breakfast, and friendly face 5/17/2007

I only have one thing to say. Ask for Greg! He is so nice, everything else falls into place. The food speaks for itself! Pros: Feels like your at someones home Cons: parking, but this is Seattle! walk a block or two already! more

Great breakfast! 2/16/2007

I don't go out to breakfast much, so breakfast places are memorable to me-- good or bad. The Hi Spot is one of the good. There were 8 of us who got there around 8am (when it opens) and although we each ordered something different and the food all came at the same time, and service was pleasant and prompt. Most importantly though, the food was delicious. The pancake I ordered was crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy in the middle (no rubber discs here!) and the scones are delicious- I had to get 2 to-go!! more

Great even if you don't live in Madrona 2/9/2007

I love breakfast here on the weekends. It's such a great atmosphere of busy but calmed down with the old house feel around you. I also take a scone for the road no matter one...serioulsly to die for with my latte. Pros: food, mimosa, location more

Best Brunch Date Spot 11/16/2006

First I must gush about the food... the omelets are stuffed to the brim and over flowing with only the best ingredients (try the northwest omelet), the potatoes are hearty, perfectly seasoned, and never leave a grease pit on your plate, and the side of toast that comes with just about every plate on the menu consists of thick slices of Seattle?s most whole some artisan breads. Pros: Cute Madrona spot for a brunch date. more

Great breakfast spot. 2/14/2006

I had the Northwest Exposure omelette and my boyfriend had the customized omelette. Both were excellent. They came with home fries and toast. The home fries were pretty good and the toast was very yummy, especially with the berry jam. The place itself appears to be a renovated home, with a bathtub in the bathroom and everything. The decor is cute and modern. The staff was relatively attentive, if somewhat distracted because the place was busy. Even so, we were seated after only a few minutes of waiting and our food came very soon after we ordered. There's no parking lot, but it's in an area where there's quite a bit of free parking on the street. We'll definitely be adding this to our rotation of breakfast restaurants. Pros: Great food, Friendly staff more

best coffee around 12/18/2005

this place is great for b-fast,but the real prize here is the coffee. The barista's are well traned and friendly. Go during the week to avoid crowds. Pros: location, coffee, friendly more

Nice Relaxing Brunch 11/29/2005

Out of all the places I could have breakfast in the city, I consistently return to the Hi-Spot. It's so warm and cozy, I almost feel like I could go in my PJ's and not get stared at. The food is so wonderful - so many choices! From vegan dishes, to scrambles, to breakfast burritos to scrumptious, in-house pastries, chances are you'll find something you like here! The pancakes are fantastic! I'm a big fan of the Green Eggs and Ham and the Tofu Scramble. The old Victorian Home makes for some super nice atmsophere. Seriously, this is the most relaxing, laid back place for a leisurely weekend breakfast! Pros: Menu, Atmosphere, Bargain Cons: Long Wait more

Wonderful Everything! 4/3/2005

This has been my favorite breakfast spot for the past 6 years. The food is ALWAYS wonderful. The service is great. Sure, the wait can be long during peak brunch hours - but what good restaurant isn't? The food is worth the wait and it arrives promptly once you order. If you DO have to wait, grab a coffee from the espresso bar and stroll through the neighborhood. Cupcake Royale/Verite Coffee is just down the street. The great thing about the Hi-Spot? It's consistently good with a menu that can satisfy the pickiest of eaters! Also a good spot for vegetarians as egg-white and veggie omelettes and tofu scrambles are one the menu! Breakfast in a converted, funky old Madrona home...makes you feel like you're at a friend's house. Pros: Ambience, Healthy Food Options, Price Cons: Crowded Weekends more

hollis 5/27/2004

This is by far the best breakfast I have ever had. I live in San Francisco, but every time I visit Seattle I make an effort to visit this inviting and cozy restaurant. From the charming front of the house owner, to the lovely staff, to the fabulous food - who could ask for more. Now they are opened for dinner - extremely casual fare but really, really well done. Believe it or not, at night it has a completely different romantic feel to the restaurant. I have never had a dish I didn't thoroughly enjoy. Pros: simple and delicious, great value, friendly staff Cons: , sometimes staff is ov, scones run out more

1 hour wait for poor service? 10/26/2003

I have a tip for the Hi-spot employees -- 1) You either want to work in a busy place or not. If you dont, get a job somewhere else. Apparently none of you have figured out this pearl of wisdom. Service: Rude (especially the baristas) Food: Decent (see below, hard to screw up) Price: Ridiculous (its eggs and cheese for godsake) Pros: Cool Neighborhood Cons: Crowded, Bad Seating, Rude Staff more

Home away from home 1/14/2003

This is one of Seattle's premier breakfast spots, but the cozy atmosphere translates well into afternoon, with fresh flowers and candlelight illumating the pale dining room....
