Save the Lining of your stomach 3/4/2010

Used to eat at the Heidi's in the Denver Post building all the time up until the new owners bought the place. Then the food, atmosphere, and employees went down hill REAL FAST. Just 3 days ago, my friend, along with her husband and grandbaby, as well as myself ate there. We all had something different, but my friend was the one that became SEVERLY sick about 4 hours after eating there. Her husband was also ill, and I had developed a case of a very upset stomach and had to keep running to the bathroom every 30 minutes. Thank god I didn't eat all my ""sandwich"". The only one that didn't get sick was the grandbaby (thank god). Her lunch was supposed to be a grill cheese sandwich. The cheese was not even melted on her sandwich. Pros: there isn't any Cons: food, non-english speaking help, dirty more

Liars! They've obviously never been to Brooklyn 1/20/2010

I wish I could give it NO STARTS. One star is generous. The folks behind Heidi's have obviously never been to Brooklyn. This place wouldn't last one day in NY. No respectable deli in Brooklyn has pre-cut, pre-weighed meat. It's not even real meat it's the nasty slimy stuff. I ordered chili too........sorry - I was gagging. So as I was saying, I ordered chili - and it was as if they opened a can of pork and beans and threw some taco meat in. Then they brag about their pickles and potato salad - ugh. The potato salad is embarrassing. I am actually offended they say this is like Brooklyn food. Don't go there - EVER. Pros: Absolutely NONE Cons: Food, atmosphere, snotty, non-English speaking staff more

Food so bad they should be arrested 5/23/2009

You can actually be arrested in Brooklyn for serving food this bad. I wouldn't suggest anyone actually eat Heidi's bagels except to laugh at how bad they are. These are absolutely the worst bagels I've ever had in my life. As other people have mentioned this is the worst run restaurant I have ever seen. Pros: Location Cons: Bagels Food Service more

Does the Health board know about this place? 6/7/2008

Oh my GOD!!!! I usually don't write reviews about sandwich shops, do to the fact they are sandwhich shops...however after the ""trip"" I was taken on at this paticular one, i felt it necessary for me to do so, for the health of the general public it is my responsibility. As I entered the store, I was not greated at all as the two younger employees covered in who knows what sat on the cutting board table and had a full on conversation. I walked down to see the menu, in doing this noticed the soup pans that looked as if the soup had been in there for at least three weeks, completely disgusting. As I placed my order, the younger lady, went right to work on making my sandwich....oh but forgetting to either wash her hands or wear gloves. I recieved my food then asked for a rootbeer float, confused, the second employee asked ME how to make it. Laughing more out of sheere amazement told him how...after putting the icecream in, he handed me the cup and told me that the rootbeer was over there pointing towards the fountain by the door. Excuse me but what am i paying for then????? I will NEVER go back into this place do to the amazingly terrible all around experience. Pros: ummmmmmmm? get to fill my own glass up? Cons: Could possibley get sick more

Hedi's Brooklyn Deli 4/6/2008

Heidi knows about as much about a Brooklyn Deli as I do about rocket science. I do notice that there are NO stores anywhere in NY. Probably a wise desicion, as nothing authentic about this store is NY, especially the menu. My suggestion to those of you ""cuirious"" about what real New Yorkers eat, and want to sample as close to the ""real thing"" as possible, is to stay away from any franchise that uses ""NY, Brooklyn, ""etc in its name, as it's most likely just a marketing ploy ( as in this case ), to lure in the ""unknowing public"". Hint..NO genuine NY DELI serves "" Hoagies"", they serve ""Hero's"". The food itself is a vague resemblance to their heritage claim, and I grew up in an Italian / Irish neighborhood, and belive me when I tell you, THAT AIN'T NO SAUSAGE & PEPPERS HERO""! Pros: Clean, roomy Cons: Too many to list more

Food is yummy but the service will leave a bad taste in your mouth. 9/19/2007

I don't know what crawled up the employee's ""you know whats"" but they should remove it promptly before returing to any service job. more

horrible service, terrible bagels, nice location 3/4/2007

What a horrible restarant. They have good meats but the staff has no idea how to make them. This place needs a manager to step in and straighten this place out. I've never seen such a poorly run restaurant. You can order the same sandwich 5 times and never get it made the same way. Pros: location Cons: bagels, staff, management more

Have you ever been to Brooklyn? 12/19/2006

I'm a New York native and let me tell you- There's nothing Brooklyn, Manhattan, heck even upstate New York about this place. Any menu that includes avacado CANNOT be considered Brooklyn or even East coast. Heidi's is exactly like every other deli or sandwich place out here. Atlanta Bread and Panera anyone? Might as well just go there! Pros: inexpensive Cons: not a lot of variety, name doesn't match the rest of the experience more

Widest selection of sandwhiches anywhere 11/5/2006

There are so many options, it truly is hard to decide on one sandwhich. They offer every kind of bread, cheese, and meat imaginable! Right now, the fresh mozz sandwhich is my favorite! Pros: Great selection Cons: a little pricey for a sandwhich but I will pay it because they are so good more

Best Sandwich 9/25/2006

Heidi's is my absolute favorite sandwich place. I am from Chicago and used to love Potbelly's and was so sad not to find one out here in Denver. But Heidi's fills the bill. They have so many good sandwiches, it is hard to decide on one! I love the mozzarela and cajun turkey. I am happy to see that they have franchised all over metro Denver. You will not be disappointed. Pros: Tasty fresh bread, fresh meat..mmm mmm good~ Cons: Sometimes a long line, but worth the wait. more

Are you kidding me!! 3/21/2006

This is as far from a east coast deli as Tony Saprono is real. The only thing that looks like an east coast deli is the view of the meats through a glass window which every supermarket now have. Terrible service means a terrible time. Please pass this dive by!! Pros: not sure, not sure, not sure Cons: Service, attitude, food more

Not even close 4/6/2005

I'm from the east coast and I can tell you that this place is no New York deli. It would get laughed out of business anywhere east of the Mississippi. It does have that nice neighborhood feel, but the food is mediocre, the bagels are often stale and there is just nothing special about the place. It doesn't even make my top 5 list in the Highlands neighborhood (not to mention the whole city). Pros: Location Cons: Food more

Hmmm... 12/8/2004

People are always giving this place props. Heidi's is supposed to world famous for their breakfast bagels, but the breakfast bagels are not that good...the eggs are almost runny and the bagels themselves taste more like rolls than actual real bagels. The service is inconsistent and the entire set up of the place seems disjointed and chaotic. more

6.5 12/19/2002

The service at Heidi's makes it a not so good place to go. The food is wonderful, however. I live in the neighborhood and I think twice before I decide to go in there now. Also, depending on whose working the music is too loud and doesn't lend itself to sitting down. The decor is fun Pros: inexpensive, tasty, authentic Cons: poor service, bad music more

Heidi's Amazing! 10/19/2002

If you are looking for a quick bite to eat Heidi's is the place to go. With a super friendly staff, amazing sandwiches, and possibly the worlds best bread, Heidi's has kept me coming back time after time. Pros: Inexpensive, Quick, Delicious more

Who runs the show 9/2/2002

I wish this place would get its act together. They have great meats and good breads(except for the horrible rye). However the service is the worst I have ever seen. Do they hand out prozac in the morning. I've seen the owner in there a few times and he just doesn't care. Someone needs to train these folks to make a sandwich. Having put myself through school making cheesesteaks in a Philly deli this place is a disgrace. Pros: bread, meats Cons: service, management, wait more

Like New York 8/29/2002

This is a great little deli in one of Denver's most charming neighborhoods. It is quick and good. Want ice cream? They have a yummy selection. It reminds me of a New York deli. Denver needs more neighborhood places like this. more

Good Food, Poor Service 8/26/2002

The Sandwiches at Heidi's are great for sure, especially the cajun turkey with avocado, but the service is really hit or miss. There are times that you will speed thru the line and other times you have to wait for the teenage girls to get off the phone to make your sandwich for ya. Good discovery: call your order in & pick it up. more

You Have To Be Kidding 8/12/2002

Sunday---we tried----all we can say is that Denver has a tough time finding a decent Deli---foood sucked and staff was disorganized more

Brooklyn Deli? 8/6/2002

This place wouldn't stand a chance in Brooklyn. Great location, but food is only slightly better than supermarket deli. There are several restaurants better within walking distance. I can't believe it got a Editorial Nomination for best lunch spot. Pros: Location Cons: Food more
