i'm from Japan and I have tried other sushi rasutaunrants but Hana sushi is by far the best. I prefer sushi than rolls, I talked sushi chef what I like and he made me many assorted sushi and dishes. It was so delicious, my friend and I started to go at least once a week. I recomend sitting at the sushi bar when you visit. Pros: free parking more

Best Sushi Bar in Town!!!! 10/18/2009

Hana Sushi in Brentwood is the most organized sushi bar I've been to and I've eaten sushi since I was five years old.The chefs are wonderfully courteous and all are excellent artists.Simply looking inside the sushi cases tells all to someone with the slightest integrity and knowledge of restaurant ingredients. The portions are extremely generous and the prices are fair.Fish is properly refrigerated, handled with care, covered professionally and unlike so many non Japanese sushi bars, the presentations are outrageously respectable. Hana Sushi has been around for over thirty five years and these are some of the reasons why. Professionalism is the key. For good music, fabulous sushi in a beautiful atmosphere and the opportunity to truly indulge, Hana Sushi cannot be beaten. Oh, yes. Recently, they have put in two firehouse poles. Fun,fun, fun! more

No need to steal 6/22/2008

I always tip 20%. Always. Hana was no exception. The food was great and they deserved it. HOWEVER, there was no need for Hana to tack on an additional $10 to the receipt after I signed it but before sending it through my bank. Great food, but sloppy service, guys (assuming it wasn't intentional). There's no excuse for that when the numbers are right in front of you. If it wouldn't cost me $10 in gas just to get back over there and deal with it, I would, but I must settle for simply never going back. Pros: Great food Cons: poor follow through on service more

Great sushi in a raging atmosphere! 6/4/2008

I visited Hana on the recommendation of a celebrity acquaintance, and boy was he right. If you want the food quality and cute waitresses of some of the "other" sushi places in town but don't want the circus, then Hana is for you. Strategically positioned next to two of the most popular bars in town (Q's and Cabo Cantina), Hana can't help but enjoy the vibe from next door but with a much classier environment. The owner is a twinkly-eyed, apple-cheeked little devil that can make anyone smile in an instant. The waitresses are cute, friendly and engaging. The food is great, the music is fun, and the chef's have a lot of personality. Great spot for a date, or to watch the game at the bar, or to meet new friends! more

Great local hangout 5/27/2008

I found this place by accident when I was in west la. I figured I would stop in and grab some sushi. The waitresses were very friendly (and cute) and the sushi was fresh and not overpriced. They had the NBA playoffs on several TV's, so I caught up on the game. It seems like a place where a lot of locals hang out, so that must be a good sign. The owner even sent over some sake on the house. If you are in the area, I would recommend stopping by. Pros: waitresses, prices Cons: pretty busy, may need reservations more

Great ambience and people... 4/28/2008

The waitresses are great and really make the dining experience great! I found it a really place to go on dates and out with friends alike. It has a great table called "the office" that can seat about 10 comfortably. The table is very private and good for parties or dates. The food is pretty good and well priced too. I love the crunchy roll and most of their specialty rolls are pretty good too. I found it a great place to start the night. The restaurant is sandwiched between two upbeat bars so went next door for drinks after all. All around it was a good dining experience. Pros: location, people, food more

Pros: waitresses Cons: parking- you have to valet more

I just had to comment about the owner; sorry to hear about your negative experience with him. But some friends and I met Robert on a recent vacation and were completely smitten with his sense of humor and outgoing personality!! He made a Bad day turn into a "Good day!" ; ) i can't wait to try Hana Sushi the next time I'm in LA! (hopefully Robert will be there) Because we sooo enjoyed his company and his admirable zest for life! The comment about "this is my restaurant and I do what I want) just cracked me up! CASH CAB-Peso Cab- Ha ha Robert YOUR THE BEST!!!!! more

We went there for happy hour, food and to watch a game. Happy hour is suppose to last until 6pm, but since it was a big game the owner decided to end the happy hour at 5pm. When we asked why he said "I am the owner I can do what I want." We will NEVER go to HANA again. Pros: Non Cons: Horrible Owner more

The best quality ingredients I can imagine. 5/24/2007

Best quality sushi I've enjoyed in a long time. As good as any place in L.A. Attentive sushi chefs, great ambiance, good music, comfortable and well worth the trip. Everyone was delightful. I've been back several times and have never been disappointed. Lots of celebrities (Fegie, Josh, Keyshawn Johnson and many more. You see someone of celebrity status everytime.) Free parking in the back. Tell whoever is there, you know the manager. Works everytime. Pros: Quality, service, entertainment and service. Cons: Between two college bars. (Cabo Cantina and Q's) more

Best happy hour sushi in town 8/10/2006

rachel1215 Provided by Partner
I use to go here for the two-for-one sushi happy hour (it use to be around $6 for two pieces). Wed eat right at the sushi table, watch a little sports on the flat screen. The chefs are really nice and recommended us what to get. I don't like fried food, but I had the most delicious salmon tempura sushi--the salmon was smooth as butter and crispy at the same time. Note on other review of "old chefs": I said this in my dim sum review of Express Pavilion, too. If you're eating cultural food, then you have to accept that the food as well as the service might be culturally different than your own. Not to mention language and customs--keep this in consideration when eating out--Mexican, Thai cuisine, etc.--especially with LA being soo diverse. Pros: 2-for-1 sushi! tempura salmon sushi Cons: parking...its always parking more

Sushi Chefs are OLD! 7/23/2006

Great Food Friendly Staff 5/11/2006

I eat sushi once-a-week, but it looks like I've found my new place. The restaurant has been newly remodeled; it's now a great place to watch a game (flat panel TVs) or people watch (located between the college hangouts Q's and Cabo Cantina, and there's no lack of activity outside the big plate-glass doors). There was a great vibe on the patio. The sashimi and nigiri sushi were excellent. The quality of the food is surpassed only by the value of the happy-hour: 4-7pm every day with two-for-one rolls, beers and saki. I don't eat rolls, but the specials on alcohol really saved money. The staff was great, our waitress was perfectly attentive and friendly. Likewise, the sushi chef was gracious when I thanked him for the wonderful meal. Sit at the sushi bar for faster service, but it's much more relaxed at a table. A great place! Pros: Very friendly staff, Value & ambianc, Excellent sushi Cons: Table slower than bar more

Horrible Service, Horrible Owner 8/25/2005

neelat Provided by Partner
Our food didn't come for a very long time even thtough the restaurant wasn't that busy. When it did come, not all of it came. Two people did not receive their entrees and one person did not receive an appetizer. Obviously, we complained that we did not receive our food. The owner came and shocked us with his rudeness. Instead of being professional, he argued/fought with us and said there wasn't anything he could do about it. His rudeness was unbelievable. This is the first time I have ever seen anything like this in America, much less at an EXPENSIVE, "nice" sushi restaurant. Cons: The Owner, The Service more

Hana sushi has the best service in town. I have been a loyal customer for over a year now, and have never been disappointed. The sushi is amazing, and the oysters are awesome!! There is a special room you can reserve for an intimate party of 10. I highly recommend this sushi joint! Pros: great service, great food Cons: parking more
