Fischer Restoration

Fischer repaired our bathroom after we had water damage. The project took over 7 months and billing was painful, but in the end we feel like we got a fair deal. The people who did the actual construction work on the house were skilled and friendly. The only work that was sub-pair was the tile work that was subcontracted to Great Floors (different issue). In the end, I'm a pretty happy customer. Only wish it didn't have to take so long. more

Our bathroom floor had water damage. We called Fischer in June to come repair, and opted to use insurance to pay. We also request a few upgrades: use tile floor instead of vinyl (120 sq ft), install 2 pocket doors, and move a light-switch. They provided an estimate for all work, including insurance and upgrades. We signed and they ripped out the floor. It was weeks before they came to do more work. Supposedly they were trying to find shower tile to match what we had left after the tear out. In late August we finally got a change order that indicated they couldn't find the tile and needed to replace the whole shower. The change order also included some upgrades and the price seemed high, but the estimator assured me it was also an estimate and pressured me to sign so we could continue work. Since we had already waited over two months to have work done (living without a shower and toilet that whole time), I signed. The project dragged out for a total of 7 months. They told me to explicitly not pay until they finalized the bill, so I waited. I asked many times about it. Meanwhile, I had to take on the burden of managing the insurance payments because they wouldn't do the work themselves. Finally insurance was fully paid and Fischer told me to pay the exact amount of the estimate, stating it was a contract the whole time. Now I am reviewing in detail and found some items that were never completed (moving the toilet over 18" was one). They are refusing to take this off the bill, even though it was not done. I am also finding out that a subcontractor who came in to help later, because Fischer couldn't complete the work themselves, will be charging me pieces of the items Fischer is charging me, so we are getting double-charged for those items. For custom upgrades (tile floor, doors, light switch) we are being charged $4300 by Fischer and several hundred by the subcontractor. It does not add up. Fischer refuses to provide us with line item materials and labor for custom work, even though that is part of the contract. more

During the April heavy rains, I had a sewer/storm drain (they connect) back-up that flooded my partially underground rental unit. I use the Homeowners Club and they called Fisher. Fisher called me back in a few minutes of receiving their call and Shawn from Fischer Plumbing was out within 45 minutes (lots of calls that day from heavy rains). Once he figured out the problem, Jason from Fisher Restoration called and said he was on his way. He was there before Shawn was finished and started the major clean up (sucking up the water and putting on heaters to start drying out). They were back the next day or two to tear out all the carpeting and pad, cut out two feet up or so of drywall, and spraying the biocide on everything from the 2 x 4's and cement down, and then the drying process. They were thankfully on the Insurance Co's list of approved restoration companies and made the whole experience the best you could expect under the circumstances! Jason and his assistant Kevin were fantastic to work with, explained everything thoroughly (I learned a lot), came back on the weekend to check progress with measurement devices, and really did a fantastic job! I just want to thank them for making this whole experience so much easier to deal with. I would highly recommend Ficsher Plumbing and Fischer Restoration for any plumbing jobs. more

The Fischer Restoration team is great! I had a dishwasher break, water damage in my kitchen and dining room. Jim and Zak were professional, friendly, knowledgeable, open and good about explaining the process along the way. They did a great job with the restoration - drying my sub floor, checking for mold, finding the root cause of the leak, making sure my home was safe for me again. Our first home and first water damage situation happened last year. We were panic and didn't know what to do first. Thanks to internet and Google. we found the solution with no time. We contacted Fischer Restoration, and David gave us clear instruction of what to do to salvage the damage at the moment. The crew came next day and took care the situation professionally. Our deck was flooded from hard rain and I had water coming into my condo. I got a recommendation from my condo association to call Fischer Restoration. This was a couple of days before Thanksgiving. They got to my condo at 11 p.m. and worked for a couple of hours. They pulled the carpet up, put the blowers on, pulled the walls, and tested for mildew, so they did do the initial work, drying everything out. However, now it's almost January 1 and we still have open walls covered with clear plastic. My condo has been torn apart. The work should have been completed by now, over a month later. We are not getting any feedback from them and no one is calling us. We do not know what is taking so long or why the job is not done. It should have been done by now. Bill Kaczmarek more

Everyone at Fischer Restoration is extremely knowledgeable. There are two sides to this company, a plumbing side and a restoration side. If I ever have a question about plumbing, they won't try to fool you, the right department would come over right away and explain and answer all of your questions. They'll tell you what needs to be done and are upfront and straightforward. I'm always impressed with them when I work with them. Everyone is helpful and friendly. I like how they have a family-feel to them, yet they are big enough to handle the larger jobs. more

I have used Fischer Restoration a few times in the past, and called them again recently to handle some water damage from a flood. They came out after hours and put in fans to dry out the affected area. They were on time, and did an excellent job communicating. Everything they did was good. I recommend Fischer highly. They are knowledgeable and reliable. Also, the price is right. They are just really friendly guys, and you can tell that they really know their industry. more
