WORST DOG SERVICES IN BOSTON 3/13/2012

If you at all love you pet, Doggie Day on Tremont and its associated businesses are a waste. They never anwer their phone, their e-mail and voicemail is always full, and service is non-existent. This is a travesty of a business operation! more

Animal neglect and unauthorized credit charges 2/10/2010

Rob put on quite a show to reel us in when I first started using doggie day. He claimed to love animals, especially his own dogs, and that he performs background checks on employees and spot checks to make sure their visits are of appropriate length. more

BUYER BEWARE ! 11/5/2008

Simply put, the numerous vet bills caused by their services and the physical pain and suffering inflicted to our Blond Lab are the reasons for me writing this review. Eye bites, Nose bites, puncture wound, leg gashed, ear bites. The final straw, our pet ingested chemical cleaning solution on their watch. We thought he was having a seizer. Our dog had to be rushed to Angel Memorial. Cons: Expensive and Dangerous more

Coming from a former employee, PLEASE AVOID 4/30/2008

I just registered on here just to post this review, just like I did on Yelp today. I have no agenda, I walked out of this job on my own free will. I am anonymous because I don't want the possibility of them harassing me via whatever information they have on file for me. Citysearch won't allow me to type my entire story (you only have 2000 characters for a review) but you can read my review in it's entirety on Yelp. Pros: n/a Cons: Air vents didn't work, unsafe conditions, awful service, EVERYTHING. more

UNRELIABLE 4/8/2008

We signed up for their 6 week puppy program (crate-training w/ walks 3x a day), full of high hopes. Doggie Day was a huge disappointment - we had problems with them from the start and things only got worse. TWICE they simply failed to show up at all - leaving my 4 month old puppy alone in his crate for 9+ hours straight. No one even called to let us know, or my husband or I could have at least gone home from work to save him. They didn't even know he'd been abondoned until we called them out on it. Pros: Really nice customer service reps who tried to do/say the right thing Cons: All the customer service in the world doesn't make up for neglecting my puppy more

My dog loves it here! 4/2/2008

Like one of the other reviewers on this site, I, too, signed up just to write this. I have used DoggieDay care with in-home pick up and drop off for the past 6 months for my one-year old labradoodle. To preface this I should confess I am one of those crazed dog owners who wants my dog to be blissfully happy all of the time. I am nuts about him. So I looked into a lot of daycares prior to selecting Doggie Day. I have had almost exclusively positive experiences with this company (my one gripe being their phone system and the maze of automated options and sometimes very long hold times). The facility is clean. The dogs all seem happy. The clientele one meets in the store-front portion of the facility is clearly high-end and seem to spend a lot of time with and money on their dogs. The employees/dog handlers appear to really love the animals. I can watch my dog on the doggie day webcam from home or office, so I can see that he is there, he's safe and he is playing happily. I have never had any issues with my dog getting picked up or dropped off on time. I can schedule his grooming to be taken care of right on site (and they do a really nice job). He arrives home at night tired out and, after 6 months of going to daycare, he is a calmer and more obedient dog. The other factor that is important to me is that I live in Boston, so if something ever happend, some emergency arose, I feel more comfortable having my dog a 5 minute drive from me (verus some other day cares out in the suburbs which can take ages to get to from downtown, southend or backbay in traffic or rush hour). Pros: reliable, clean, nice people, nice dogs Cons: they could use another person manning the phones at peak call hours more

I'll never use DoggieDay again 4/1/2008

There are some nice people at DoggieDay, but my last experience with them was so awful that I'll never use them again, and would never recommend them to anyone else. Pros: nice owner, nice office manager Cons: home animal care more

Compromised my cats' health! 1/1/2008

I have been using Doggie Day pet service for five years now. In the past, there have been little slip-ups (e.g. not showing up at exactly the right time, forgetting to re-set the alarm), but these were forgivable and minor mistakes. HOWEVER, upon returning from Christmas break and finding both my cats locked in the bathroom, I now feel compelled to write this review to discourage any person who wants humane and safe service for their animal to look elsewhere. My cats, for whatever reason, were locked in the bathroom and there was about 4-5 days of urine and feces on the floor. Our apartment wreaked of cat urine, their food was crusted over and had not been touched in days (not to mention less than half of the food cans had been used) and the litter spray that normally is all over the floor when we've been away for >1 week was not present. All these signs summate to suggest that our cats had been in that bathroom for 4-5 days without water or food. They are still throwing up 2 days later. The most concerning part was that the DD feeders had visited daily for these 8 days, and left report cards everyday. They had just failed to ensure that my cats were actually alive! While they were apologetic, we immediately demanded a refund and picked up our house key the next day, never to use their service again. I would strongly encourage pet owners to think twice about using DD service. The friendliness of the owner and one of the managers does not excuse the negligent manner in which my cats were cared for. Beware. Pros: Friendly customer service Cons: Negligent pet care, poor telephone service more

The best pet service I've ever used! 12/23/2007

I am another pet owner who can't believe the things that have been written so negatively about this company. I've spent many minutes, if not hours in their store, and I've been impressed every time I go there. The staff is extremely helpful, the place is immaculate, and the dogs all seem happy. I've even watched the dog walkers come in and out of the place, and I have always been impressed with the fact that they are all in uniform, and all pleasant with everyone that they encounter. Certainly a lot different than the people I see on the street in ragged clothes trying to hold onto 6 or eight dogs at a time! My dog has been in the care of DoggieDay for over two years, both using the in home service as the Playcenter, and there has never been an issue with his care. Sure, there are times when there has been a billing issue, but I don't think that there's a company that I've done business with in my entire life that this sort of thing hasn't happened with. They always take care of the problems, and seem to continuously look for ways to improve the serv ice. According to the owners, who I think are great people, they do over 40,000 visits a year, so the fact that I see a handful of negative remarks certainly is not indicitive of the way this company does business on a large scale. I hope DoggieDay stays around for as long as I have a pet. I wouldn't trust my baby to anyone else. Pros: A wide range of services and products Cons: the phone system is confusing -please fix this and everything with be perfect more

Avoid Doggie Day 12/17/2007

I've used Doggie Day pet sitting service twice. The first time I was left with an uneasy feeling. The second time I realized that I should have trusted my instincts. Cons: Ignore Instruction, Unresponsive to concerns more

Sub Par Customer Servive, Do not Trust Them w/ Credit Card Info. 10/30/2007

Despite some of the negative reviews on this site for Doggie Day I decided to give them a shot as I was in a bind. I should have heeded the warnings given. I was leaving for the weekend and nobody had come to pick up my dog at the chosen time. After waiting 45 minutes, I had to leave and attempted MANY calls to confirm that my dog had been picked up. The vague directions on the voicemail fail to mention that there is no customer service on weekends and after hours, and finally after calling the emergency line, I spoke with someone. The pricing that Doggie Day employs is chaotic with all sorts of ""add ons"" for services depending on time of day etc. Advanced Trig. was easier than wading through the myriad of choices and ever changing costs. Pros: HAHAHAHA Cons: Fraudulent Charges, Nasty Attitudes, No Customer Service more

Bad Doggie! 8/9/2007

I have found every single interaction with Doggie Day to be a nightmare. They left my 9 week old pug puppy alone in his crate for 10 hours and then showed up after I arrived home. When I demanded a refund for both the visit and my membership fee, I spent over two weeks chasing the owner down who was on vacation and waging war with one of the rudest receptionists with whom I have ever spoken (Megan?). I ended up physically going to the store and just happened upon the 'vacationing' owner who was in the store. He ended up giving me my money back and I thought I was done with Doggie Day for good. more

Great Place for dogs. 5/3/2007

I signed on to City Search just to write this. I can not understand the negative reviews. I truly believe that the people writing the bad reviews have an agenda. Pros: Very Clean - Great staff more

Sorry... but not my problem 3/2/2007

Following the posting to Yelp below**, I needed to send my dog to DoggieDay because the place we usually use was unable to take her on short notice. After I called to schedule, Lew Whitney, a DoggieDay owner, called me to ""discuss"" this posting which he had seen. He was extremely aggressive and insisted that I ""intentionally did harm to the business"" by writing this posting. He told me that my business was not wanted if I was going to ""trash"" DoggieDay on the internet. Regardless of the fact that this is an open forum and that I was paying them for their services, he continued to attack me. Needless to say, I hung up and we are done with DoggieDay. I encourage everyone considering DoggieDay to find another friendlier place to send their dog. If you do a search for other reviews of DoggieDay you will find even more negative comments. I think Mr. Whitney has a lot of phone calls to make. Pros: Convenient Cons: Everything about their customer service and space more

less than zero... 12/12/2006

Doggie Day's customer service is almost no-existent. One is never able to speak with a human being when calling - the voice mail loop is all you get. If you do choose to leave a message, don't expect your call to be returned. I am not sure whether they have bitten off more than they can chew, but I know from first hand experience that they do not pay their vendors, not even late - just never. Not a great way to run a service driven company. Pros: They carry quality products Cons: they do not pay the bills for the products they buy more

DoggieDay Comes Late and Has Poor Customer Service 8/25/2006

I just hired DoggieDay for mid-day walks. They were supposed to come between 2-4pm daily. They came 2-3 hours late 2 of the 6 days (which resulted in my dog having an accident). When I called to complain, I was offered the manager's voicemail. Nobody has returned any of my calls or offered an apology. I'm hugely disappointed and looking for a new dog walking service. more

Doggie day failed to show up for in home cat care. 8/13/2006

I have used doggie day for their in home cat care. I was initially very happy with the service that doggie day provided, but have recently had some very serious concerns. The last time that I made an appointment with them, no one showed up. Having a diabetic cat who needs insulin twice a day, this was a very serious mistake. When I called to complain, they agreed to refund my money but never offered anything even close to an apology. When I asked to speak with a manager I was sent to a voice mail and never called back. I have also found it difficult to impress upon them how important in is that my cat get his insulin at specific times during the day (failure to do this can result in his death). I would not recommend doggie days cat care services to anyone with special needs cats and I would recommend that you be sure to confirm your appointments by phone even if they send you an e-confirmation. more

Poor attention to your pet 7/31/2006

Avoid this business. My pet was not seperated from more aggressive dogs. Customer service needs attention. Pros: 24 hour service Cons: Attention to detail more

Great daycare and store 4/30/2006

I have been using DoggieDay for in-home and daycare services for about 8 months now and trust them with my baby. Their store also has great merchandise. The folks are very nice. more
