What a disappointment! 3/4/2011

I recently made an appointment 4 a Sunday, & I was told 2 make sure 2 bring a bible because she (Grace, the owner) does bible study in her shop on Sundays. A little stunned I responded by saying what if I am a Muslim, Budhist or whatever. I asked her what would she do if I showed up with no bible...2 which she replied that she had bibles there that she would supply. To make a long story short, I was so annoyed & upset by her lack of professionalism that I cancelled. I remain amazed as 2 how clueless she appears 2 b about the inappropriateness of her actions. I also shopped around & found her prices 2 b way 2 high compared 2 the other shops I contacted. $250 & u still have 2 supply your own hair! ......please....give me a break! If u r looking 2 b preached 2 while getting your hair done, bring your bible, & this place is 4 u! more

A Hidden Jewel!!! 2/21/2011

I will NEVER have my hair braided @ any other shop. On Friday night I was literally & physically ""Grace(d)"" with the pleasure of having my hair twisted. Thank you Grace for taking me with such a short notice & thanks for the WONDERFUL conversation( you don't get to experience the WORD in too many other shops.) I just can't stop singing her praises & showing off my hair :) I'm recommending all of my family & friends to CCFAB & if you're looking for a great experience, then you should call and make an appointment today!!! more

CCFAB is the BEST!!! 2/17/2011

It has taken me a while to post my expereince with Grace at Customer's Come First. I have read through some of them reviews and for the most part we all share the same opinion. Grace had a clean, comfortable shop, she was fast, gentle and had good conversation. I had not gone to the website or read any reviews up until this point. I hate that some reviewers have had a bad expereine with Grace at CCFAB. Grace is the first and only shop that I know that offers free hair, takeout and free refreshments you do not find that at many places. I picked up CCFAB card at a beauty supply store thinking that the braids probably would be overpriced but little did I know that the prices were reasonable. I am glad I was able to make a smooth transition with Grace. As I am looking for someone permananet to continue braiding my hair. I have would recommend her to anyone. At least you don't have to leave the shop with an ice pack on your head because the braids are too tight and you don't have to worry about cheap hair that doesn't last as long as the style. Customers are truly frist at this establishment. It will be two weeks on Monday and my hair still looks fresh. more

Review For CCFAB 2/15/2011

I visited this braiding salon three ocassions. The first was ok one of the workers Ms. Mary braided my hair. The second time I went back the owner Mrs. Grace braided my hair and that experience was ok. The last time I went was about three weeks ago for a touch up was not a good experience at all. Another worker did my touch up and by the time I left there at about 5am I was livid. One reason the owner left with the two workers working on me and my daughters hair. One on the workers asked her for her assistance so that everyone could leave. The owner refused to help her workers and stood there in the salon and argued with the workers for about an hour for asking her to assist her so that her customers who come first can get home and prepare for work in a few short hours. I was not happy with that experience and in the future I hope the name of this braiding salon stands up and really put customers first. more

Give your Glory 2 Grace 2/5/2011

It has taken me a while to write this review simply because I am a very analytical and cautious person. I hate to jump the gun and later be proven wrong, so I wanted to observe as a customer for a while. Grace has not changed she always greets me with a smile?her professionalism and pleasant demeanor alone are worth the visit to her shop. She is well versed in her craft, so I feel comfortable accepting her counsel. In this economy, it is a blessing to be able to invest in my hair. I do not mind paying good money, but the business has to earn it! Besides, if my hair is wrong, my head is wrong?messes up my whole day because the bottom line is my hair is my glory! With Grace, my glory is in good hands?yours will be too. more

The experience I shared with Grace, was great, in fact it was incredible. I felt so relaxed and comfortable. The customer was service was spectacular. The conversations that we shared was so inspirational. I felt as if Grace is a woman of determination with a great spirit, a great heart, and a great sense of humor. She for one treated myself and my children with respect as I was getting my hair done. She wanted to ensure that my hair was being done accurately and correctly. In the future I plan on having my daughters hair done as well as myself redone. I will definitely recommend others. The hospitality alone was marvelous. I was very well pleased with my outcome. A special thanks goes out to the business at ccfabraids in Cary N.C. I will be back soon...... A hair do is needed. Thanks for my last minute reset and updo the business and you yourself are wonderful. What a blessing to know you, you're so inspirational with so much motivation. It is so family oriented inside the shop, so warm and comforting, I love it....... more

I have been to other african braiding salons and they can not compete with ccfafrican braids. Grace and her staff welcome u with open arms. i must congratulate Grace for her good job. i guess it was the Lord who took me there. first time i went there, and i liked it even though she wasn't the one who did my hair. ever since i stepped foot into that shop, i have seen a tremendous improvement with my hair. am very picky when it comes to people doing my hair, and sometimes get scared when its been done. i can boldly say, it is a different story when it comes to Grace. she knows what to do, and how to make people look at me twice. i can trust her with the decisions of my hair. Also her relations towards customers are always the best. thanks Grace, you are the best. more

True to its name 12/31/2010

The salon is called ""Customer Come First"" and my stylist was the owner, ""Grace."" In both cases they are aptly named. Customers really do come first and Grace is definitely full of grace. Everyone knows how important first impressions are. Grace made a great first impression. She was running about 30 minutes late, but had the courtesy and professionalism to call me in advance of my appointment to let me know she would be late. She arrived exactly when she said she would. I've been to another African hair braiding salon and the braider was over an hour late, and never once called me! As I entered the salon, I was exposed to a neat, tidy, and clean work area. The bathrooms were also clean. There was cable television and comfortable seating. I thought it was going to take all day so I brought plenty of reading material; I didn't need it though. Grace is a fantastic conversationalist. We talked almost the entire time. She is bright and very funny. I felt like we were old friends. This was nothing like my past braiding experience which felt uncomfortable; I felt like a burden. I'm a braiding novice. I thought I wanted one thing, but Grace explained why that really wouldn't work due to the length of my hair. She made a different suggestion and recommended color as well. I was a bit nervous but decided to trust her and I'm so glad I did. The finished product is beautiful, but I'm getting ahead of myself. The process was quick and painless. These are significant qualities because the last braiding experience I had hurt so much, I thought I'd NEVER go through that again. Grace is so skillful that there was minimal pain (no ibuprofen needed). She's also quick. I have fairly thick and long hair, yet she completed the job in 5.5 hours (I thought it would take 6-8 hours). Even though she's fast, quality isn't sacrificed; my hair is, in a word, GORGEOUS! She even took the time to show me some quick up-dos and how to maintain my hair. After it was done and it was time to pay; there was no sticker shock experience. I knew in advance how much it would cost and her prices are reasonable. She didn't charge me more simply because I have long hair (the last salon I went to did). She accepts credit cards which meant I didn't have to walk around with over $100 in my pocket. Also, she takes the braids/twists out for free - unheard of but good business practice (that's one way to keep people coming back)! I highly recommend Customer Come First African Braids. It's located in Cary and well worth the drive (I came from North of Wake Forest). I'll always go to Grace for my hair braiding needs. Thank you Grace and thanks to my co-worker who referred me. more

Grace is the Bestest!! 12/11/2010

When I first met Grace I knew we were going to have a lastling relationship. I am very particular about my hair and who's in it. I have met the perfect one to braid and style my hair. I'd sit in her chair and feel so at home. She's very experienced in the field of braiding. She knows exactly what she's doing. I would suggest a style and she would do something totally different.. When she's done, I would have no complaints because it was done perfectly to my liking!! She connects so well with everyone who walks through her doors. You are guaranteed to get a good intellectual conversation with her every time you're with her. She definately has a heart of GOLD! Did you know she does make-up? Yes! She is a professional make-up artist by degree and trade? She surprised me one day and literally transformed me into a beautiful PRINCESS!! She's absolutely great!! more

The Best Around!!!!!! 11/26/2010

Grace has been braiding myself and my daughter's hair for a while now and I am very pleased with her work. The atmosphere is professional, clean and refreshing. I love the fact that she takes down your braids for free(if she puts them in) and also offers free snacks when getting serviced. I would not go anywhere else......And guess what, today was one of her free days for the month of November and I didn't know until she was finished my daughter's hair!!! Grace you are truly a God-send and I hope you are around for a long time. You have a customer for life. P.S...She took my daughter's hair down, washed it and braided it all for free!!! Thanks mommie!!!! more

So warm & professional! 11/10/2010

I've been getting my hair and my daughters' hair braided for years by so called professional african braiders. However, this is the very first time I've been treated like an appreciated customer. Grace is awesome! She is a wonderful communicator and even did me a favor by bringing my daugther home after the appointment when I was held up at work. Her prices are great!!! I mean great and fair!!! In addition as a stylist she knows her stuff! I've never had someone school me about hair braiding and natural haircare in the manner that she did. Grace is truly a person of honor and she has so much respect for others. It is really hard to put it into words because people like her are rare. If you have tried the rest you need to try Grace because her crew and her re the best! more

A blessing in disguise 11/5/2010

After various braidng experiences, I decided that I wanted to find a place that would help me to continue my transition to natural hair. Before I called CCFAB, I did an online search to find braiders in the area and I wanted to make sure that there were also reviews for them. I came across CCFAB on about the third or fourth page and I was absolutely impressed with the number and length of the reviews. I thought to myself, ""These people are writing essays about their experiences!"" As I kept reading, I was convinced and decided to call for an appointment. I was so excited about this experience being different from my other ones, that I wanted to get my braids done that weekend. more

NOT FOR ME 11/5/2010

It's great that you, and most others, had an awesome experience. I do however, find it curious, when people criticize other's experience, good or bad. EX: ""I think it's sad when we don't get our way and we take it out on others."" Of course no one needs to tell you that you are entitled to your view. As well, so are others. It's not wrong of them to feel like they had a bad experience. Everyone can not please everyone else. And as you already stated, some people may not take how Grace communicates in the best way and vice versa... personalities differ. With that, regardless of personalities and ""feelings"" some things are just fact. Forgetting appointments, being late (for WHATEVER) reason, rudeness, talking bad about other professionals are all things that are NOT considered good customer service and can not be debated. I think it's sad when others try and discredit someone else's experience. Why haven't I posted mine? Well, I'm not sure I want to...at least not in detail. I'm sure that Grace is not aware of it, but the facts and description of events within my experience may end up hurting her business; That's not my intention. This is meant to be an open forum for different people to express how THEY perceived her work and their experience; let it be just that. I did NOT have my hair done by Grace. After speaking to her a few times, I decided to keep looking. I wasn't comfortable with her approach, essentially. One thing that I will say is that when I asked about her technique, she wouldn't tell me. I suppose I can understand how one may not want to let others know how they do things. They think it can hurt them or they will lose the business. However, people should know what someone is doing to their hair, first and most importantly. Second, in this world of youtube, and internet, we can learn how to do just about anything. This is the case with me; I already know/knew how to do what I was asking, as well as several methods of doing it. But I'm no fool to think I could do my own, full head. I sought a professional and was ready to pay good money. Moving on, I'm am extremely happy that I did in fact keep looking. I found someone who was willing to LISTEN and WORK WITH me for a healthy, beautiful result. Grace and I ran into each other after I had my hair done. After she blamed someone else for why she thinks clients weren't coming back, she told me my hair was beautiful. I think it's said that she has no clue that it was her and no one else. more

Great Service for my family 11/4/2010

My two girls (4,6) went to visit Grace on last week and we had the most wonderful experience. My girls are satisfied, I am satisfied, and my husband loves all of his girls' hair. Grace is wonderful and a pleasure to work with. The solution that she provided me for the look I wanted is perfect! She was open to hear what I really wanted my hair to look like and made it happen for me as well as my girls. The atmosphere is pleasant, clean and the service professional. Thanks again, Grace! more

Wonderful 10/22/2010

Oh my....What a wonderful experience. I went to the salon expecting the typical experience(1b hair, pictures plastered all over the place, being asked to pay first,etc). I am so pleased to say my experience was the total opposite. The salon was so clean, Grace is more than amazing. I've never had color in my hair before & I didn't feel too comfortable with the idea. Grace knows her craft very well, the color is awesome & my twist are beautiful. I received quality braids & great conversation, all in a clean comfortable atmosphere. Grace, Miss Mary & Rose, thanks for everything! more

Husband's Come First!!! 10/19/2010

I went to Grace quite a few times before getting my hair braided. She was patient with me and she explained to me about each style I inquired about. The things we think we want done to our hair often people don't tell us that it will not suite us or that there is more to it than we see in a photo. I love the confidence that Grace has in her ability. Some may take it the wrong way, but you have listen to her and know that she truly cares about her work and how it represents her in the community. I love that! I was a little scarred at first because she decided to put highlights in. I gave a little objection to the color, but decided to trust her which is something I do not normally do. The results were fabulous!!! I love my hair. She told me that she made it look wonderful for my husband so for my experience the salon became ""husband's come first, then the customers!"" Grace you made me feel like family, you allowed me to be myself and have fun. I appreciate you! To anyone who sees a negative review about Grace, please see how many negative ones vs. the ones that give her the credit she deserves for her wonderful work. I think it's sad when we don't get our way and we take it out on others. The reflection really is on us vs. the people we try to hurt! She is the best braider in the triangle and so are the people who work for. If she told me that Ms. Mary or Rose was doing my hair I feel good about the work being just as great and if for some reason it was not, I know she would make it so. This review is not to say that others who have not had a good experience don't have a right to how they feel, but for those who don't agree with my thought, know that I speak from a very knowledgeable perspective. People who want to have their hair braided with excellence like I did will give Grace a try. If you don't go because the reviews on here don't all say the same (except the majority who love it) trust me, Grace is going to be blessed regardless!! Love ya Grace, Ms. Mary, and Rose!! More than a braiding salon 10/12/2010

I have been getting my hair braided for over a year now and was not happy with the turn out.I was driving by and saw the hair braiding sign on the corner. I went in to CCFAB to observe and hopefully schedule an appointment. I thought it would be the same types of situation I have always encountered strangeness and being ignored, but not this time, the atmosphere was so welcoming(and I had just walked in off the street, keep in mind). As a stranger, Grace and Ms. Mary made me feel like I had known them for years. I got my hair done today and I talked about how much fun I had all through dinner with my family. Grace puts the customers first ( with much love, care, and concern.) A customer came in who couldn't keep her hair like Grace had done it (which was beautiful), and Grace re-fixed her hair in 5 minutes and it made that client so happy. Ms. Mary did my hair, and she is GOOD at what she does as well. I left a very, very happy client. I have found my home for hair. The atmosphere was filled with no negativity, just laughter and pleasant conversation. The CCFAB is very professional place. But I must say it was refreshing to have someone care about how I wanted my hair and not because of a hectic schedule, ended up doing it how they felt like doing it. I left feeling like I made new friends of Grace and Ms. Mary. I am so happy the way my hair turned out and the CCFAB family will see me in the near future. So ladies, we have to spread the good word about the CCFAB salon and make the family grow. Thank you so much Grace and Ms. Mary. more
